No. I've had no time to summarize, but here goes ...

4500+ downloads since launch
openSUSE 11 client support is in SVN and BuildService. Look for
iFolder in BuildService Search.

Nautilus plugin for openSUSE11 is also in OBS.
Server support for 11 is due in May/June timeframe
Community home is moving to a hosted Kablink Teaming instance
TODO list is posted on SourceForge (taking volunteers)
legacy wiki is posted at http://www.ifolder.com/~ifolder (taking
volunteers to help move to new home)

probably a couple of other points in the log of the IRC session.

2009-05-22 Thread Brent McConnell
There was a bit about this in IRC yesterday. I successfully built the
SVN trunk on 11.1 last weekend but had to change Simias.cs due to
incompatibility in Mono.WebServer dll. However, I later found out that
it was due to my version of Mono which was dated March 13. The newer
builds of Mono available at Mono:UIA:iFolder in buildservice should
supply the correct Mono version which is dated (May 13th). If you have
this newer version you should get a clean build of the server. As for
the stability and and usefulness of it, I've found it to be pretty good
so far except for the Mac 10.5 client which I can't get to work :-(.

2009-07-20 Thread Brent McConnell

Sorry about that :-(. We recently switched our forums on our website and they
haven't been well adopted yet. The mailing list is the best place for support
right now. Are you using iFolder from OES or the open version?

 Kevin Updegrove kevinupdegr...@nbty.com 7/20/2009 9:55 AM

Hi Brent,

I hope you won't find this too much of an intrusion but, I wanted to express my
appreciation for resurrecting the iFolder project. Unfortunately, the forums
do not appear to be active at all and I'm receiving little to no help at
#ifolder on freenode.

My company has been a long time Novell shop. Recently, Management has dictated
that we will move to Active Directory. Although I was looking forward to the
transition to Linux, I don't get much of a say. That said, we would like to
continue to use iFolder and have chosen the openSUSE route. I've been able to
setup everything and it's working to a point. The AD tree is being read but,
it's not getting all the users. There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason
to what is being missed. Users are picked up in all OUs from the root of the
tree but, not all of them. Also, the Administration page does not refresh the
data when a user is added or changed. I have to delete the cache in
../simias/CollectionFiles and re-run the simias-server-setup script.

I've spent two weeks trying to track down an answer and I've decided to reach
out to you in desperation. I hope that you will be able to assist or at least
point me to an active user group who might be able to help.

Thank You,

[Ifolder-dev] iFolder Bug Contest

2009-07-29 Thread Brent McConnell

Hi all,

I just wanted to announce to the list that a contest is getting underway within
the iFolder project. From now till 8/14/2009 you can collect points for
closing and/or fixing bugs in iFolder. If you are able to verify a bug is
fixed and close it you are entitled to 1 point. If you actually provide a
patch to a bug you get 3 points. As things get going I will publish a
leaderboard on the community website. I also have acquired ;-) a few computer
bags for giveaways. Community members with the most points will receive the
bags.

To get started go to bugzilla.novell.com and select Search from the upper menu.
You can then search via Advanced Search by almost any criteria you can think
of. Once you've closed a bug remember to tell this mailing list about it or CC
bmcconnell [at] novell {dot} com in the bug report. If you write a patch
remember to attach it to the bug report in the attachments section.

Did I forget anything? Let me know.

Simias would be is another questions entirely. Are there other benefits we

Another SQL-less option is DB4O, which is BTW a managed database, so it

RE: [Ifolder-dev] ifolder enterprise 3.7 on other rpm-based distros?

2009-09-11 Thread Brent McConnell

http://build.opensuse.org to check it out. In a nutshell...

The openSUSE Build Service is the only service that allows developers to
package software for all major Linux distributions. The service provides
software developers with a convenient and easy to use tool to create and
release open source software for openSUSE and other Linux distributions on
different hardware architectures and for a broad user audience.

Basically, you don't have to have different hardware and different distros to
compile your app for other platforms. You upload your sources tell
BuildService what distro to use and what dependencies you have and it pumps out
packages for any distro.

It's as cool as it sounds.

Hi,
I'm all for that. I don't know about build service, but i'm
packaging rpms, i don't have physical boxes to test them out on, the only
one i have is a centos 5.3 x86_64, but i can use vmware server to install
other distros for testing.
Can you give me some details?
Thanks.
Dave.

I would love to see Fedora and/or CentOS available for iFolder. What we
should do is try to coordinate efforts through the build service, that way
we could have openSUSE, Fedora, Ubuntu and others updated continuously in
one place. Anyone up for that?

Thanks Christopher for the update. Once the rpm is successful, it would be
great if you can update/upload the same in iFolder wiki or send it to
Brent(in CC), who will help update the wiki.

 Hi Dave,

  Hello,
Newbie to this list. I was wondering if ifolder enterprise
3.7 had been tried on other rpm-based distros?
I'd like to get it working on a rel5 machine in this case
CentOS 5.4, and x86_64 platform, to be specific.
If not, is there a location i could obtain all the needed
  src.rpms to recompile myself?
 Thanks.
 Dave.

I'm currently in the process of getting ifolder's dependencies into
Fedora. Currently I have libflaim in with simias to follow shortly
(hopefully) but I'm running short on time to do this. You'd be most
welcome to help this process (and by extension you could get iFolder
into CentOS through the EPEL project).

Let me know if you want more info on this.

 Regards

[Ifolder-dev] Re: 3.8 Schedule

2009-09-29 Thread Brent McConnell

We are still working to finalize the 3.8 schedule. As of now it looks like it
may slip into October. And yes, iFolder will run on openSUSE 11.X and Mono 2.X

 Hello everyone,

Is there any status update or news on the 3.8 release of iFolder? If
memory serves me correctly, 3.8 will run on OpenSUSE 11 and Mono 2.x,
 correct?

 If you can't tell, I'm anxiously awaiting 3.8... :)

 Thanks,

 Brad
