Myself only had given the seminar in DSCET, Mamallapuram last year for his

If any member is willing to do a workshop, please write to Ranjith Kumar.

Did you compiled subversion? If so can you post your ./configure
options along wit the versions of dependencies?

Why don't you use subversion from CentOS repositories with yum?

By suffering internet to solve above error  , it seems that, i have to use
 berkeley database.

Not necessarily, the default is fsfs these days. You can ignore bdb
with '--without-berkeley-db' option in configure.

If you badly need bdb, then compile apr-util with bdb support and show
subversion the apr-util compiled with bdb, it will automatically get
bdb from apr-util.

Sounds like fun and VERY USEFUL. I am not sure whether i have stumbled on
VNC viewers for Linux .
Also, whether i can view Windows desktop from a VNC viewer in Linux?
Something like 'mstsc' for working across windows-linux would also be neat.

VNC has a protocol -- de facto, if not de jure -- so it should work
across OS-es.

Swamynathan, the folks at work[1] had released SimpleVNC[2] some time
last month, it has ports for Windows and MacOS X ... so you might want
to work on a Linux port. Plus you don't have to start from scratch.

We use it in a IM product we're making, but it's GPL-ed so you can do
as you please with it.

[Ilugc] Final year project

2009-08-17 Thread Santhosh Kumar
Hi all,

One of my friend suggested me to do a language detector for
python. At present the language detector(langdet) in python is in bi-gram
mode and i have planned to do it in n-gram mode which will be more accurate
in its output. Also plan to have feature like : Support for 76 languages,
since n-gram accuracy of detection will be high, An interface that will
enable the application to be started in 'server' mode in addition to the
ability to be imported as a python-module and make it listen on any given
port will be developed. This gives the application the ability to serve
other programming languages also.

Kindly give me your suggestion as i am doing this as my final year
project.

With Anticipation,

Santhosh V.Kumar

For long, i had this in my mind.. let me know if it interests you.

For any language, vocabulary indicates its richness. because, words
represent virtually everything, whether its object, or an abstract thought,
or an emotional feeling. So, richness in vocabulary means, refined
 representation of ideas and objects.

Now coming to the core point, English had the vast set of vocabulary, which
is used for comparative analysis and also differential learning. For
example, the meaning for discovery and invention is different in english
context, but its represented by the same word in tamil.

There are many technical words, which doesnt have an equivalent word in
tamil. Which means, we could not represent those technical subjects
 properly here.

The need of the hour is to create new words in tamil to represent the
developments, but at the same time, acceptable to the people.

For that, we can develop a collobarative platform, so that learned tamil
scholars, (also common people) across the globe, could suggest tamil words
for english words, and discuss about that. When more people participate in
that, we have more number of choices of words, and as it matures, we can
choose a best fitting word for each english word.

we dont need another collobarative platform than wikitionary. already people
from Free Tamil Computing list are describing words in

tamil wikitionary.

please check here
http://ta.wiktionary.org/wiki/%E0%AE%AE%E0%AF%81%E0%AE%A4%E0%AE%B1%E0%AF%8D_%E0%AE%AA%E0%AE%95%E0%AF%8D%E0%AE%95%E0%AE%AE%E0%AF%8D

 I have few suggestions.

 1. The requirement document for this project can be maintained in tamil
itself. (an initiative for software development in tamil)

not necessarily important for project but though a good thing.

 2. This can be developed as a long term project with wide participation,
 and
such a project can become wikipedia of tamil.. (for words)

there is already a tamil wiktionary

 3. If it clicks, we can get funding from tamilnadu government too :)

govt never funds for good project.

since n-gram accuracy of detection will be high, An interface that will
enable the application to be started in 'server' mode in addition to the
ability to be imported as a python-module and make it listen on any given

First send whatever code you have developed and then you will get improvements

Baskar, a big thank you for your tireless efforts in promoting Linux

entrepreneur who has taken this as your core business in this part of

Hats off, keep up the good work.
