This is strange. Did the device got detected as storage device(CD)?

In any case try 'usb_modeswitch -v 0x201e -p 0x2009'

However this assumes that system already knows the target product id and
message string (if different from default). If it doesn't then contact
customer service to get them both and issue 'usb_modeswitch -v 0x201e -p
0x2009 -V 0x201e -P target product id -M control message'

Thank you. I will try it out and see if it works.

Thanks for the help :)

Hi All,

Could somebody help? I have Ubuntu 10.10 and just got Tata Photon +

correctly. I get the following in lsusb:

I have tried to search google and earlier archives, but could not find
anything helpful. Found a few articles, but did not work on my machine.
I have tried usb-modeswitch, but not sure how it works and what I need
to do. I believe it is installed by default in 10.10.

Any help is much appreciated.

  Managed or unmanaged?

It's an unmanagable (unprogrammable) switch only.

If its an unmanageable switch, try checking the tcpdump output and see if
you are receiving any ping packets on the server. similarly, check on the
systems if the packets are being sent consistently or not. If both are fine,
then try to check on another similar switch if you have one.

also, you can try different ports on the same switch. Might help.

sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager
simple-compizconfig-settings-manager

It will ask for your password. Once you type, it will also ask whether you

Two places. Applications-Ubuntu Software Centre-Installed Software

 Firefox and pidgin
 2) Plain interface similar to XFCE but does not crash
 3) Is not memory hog (like KDE 4)

I have heard that archlinux is fast and simple but unstable, any

I have successfully migrated my wife as well as my brother to it. They

Do you have any other OS installed? As a workaround, you can try setting

Re: [Ilugc] what is meant by cloud computing

2010-04-16 Thread Abhishek K

Hi All,

I am new to this group and just joined up last week sometime. Just
wanted to say hello :)

Anyway, here is a simple explanation of your query:-

Cloud computing is nothing but technology that have all computing power
in the Internet. For e.g., right now, when you use email, you already
use the cloud. However, in cloud computing case, even your operating
system will boot from cloud. You will only have a dumb terminal in front
of you with no capabilities.

The future is what Pano Technologies have introduced.
http://www.panologic.com/

http://www.panologic.com/

A true virtualised desktop with no computing power. This is what cloud
is all about. And when the company needs more processing/computing
power, they just buy it from the cloud services provider, instead of
buying it on their own. Imagine the hardware/maintenance cost savings if
this model is implemented.

The only true major hurdle with this type of implementation is the
security of the cloud.

Hope this helps :-)
