Most of the packages in Fedora are maintained by community volunteers. The usual reason for any software missing is that nobody has volunteered to do so. courier-authlib, I see a dead review in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=208064 courier-imap, IIRC was in Fedora sometime back and then got orphaned later but I haven't verified now. If you want to be a package maintainer yourself, refer to https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Join_the_package_collection_maintainers You can build for both Fedora and RHEL (via the EPEL repo) Drop me a mail offlist if you need further help. Re: [Ilugc] What software is missing in the Fedora repository?
Hi Rahul, nice initiative , below is a package I have not found in the repository, I am not sure whether it is affected by the patent problems, please let me know if it does. -- eucalyptus(http://open.eucalyptus.com/), which is used for building elastic clouds over clusters. I guess it is already available with the ubuntu package repository, but not sure of any rpms from other distros. Also, it is not a very commonly used software, but is of great importance to some power users, but anyway I feel it would be a good addition. [Ilugc] What software is missing in the Fedora repository?
Hi, If you are a Fedora user, read on. Otherwise, feel free to skip this mail. I am doing a quick survey for software that you use on a regular basis that is not available via the Fedora repository. Software that you suggest should be free and open source, free of patent and other legal issues (ie) don't suggest Adobe Flash Player or MP3 codecs. Tell me the home page of the software and give me a brief description on what it does. Bonus points if you can see in Google for software-name fedora package review to figure it if it is already in the Fedora package review queue. If you know of RPM packages in other distributions for the software your are suggesting, that information is useful as well. Thanks.
