Since you haven't specifically mentioned the version etc. do have a
look at https://access.redhat.com/site/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Satellite/
Hopefully, any additional queries will have listed solutions at

2014-06-29 Thread Ganesh Hariharan
Hi Ravi,

Satellite is a premium product of Redhat.

But first understand why you need Sattelite, I suppose you know it.

If not please be noted, Satellite is a product to support large deployments
of Redhat Servers for package automation and installations, patches etc.

RHN will be in sync with Satellite server in a customer datacenter and all
servers inturn connect with Satellite.

hope this helps.

What is your qualification? You don't mention it.

Good.

Keep attending interviews looking for ads in newspaper and elsewhere and try to
 move through contacts.

But you need a resume. There are some good resources in the Internet that help
 you with resume design.

Essentially you should focus on your skills and projects and
educational background.

Make it short and sweet and write in flawless English and pray to God.

Best of luck.

zip is not windows specific. zip files work well on Linux well. I have
tested it and works under rhel 4, 5 , sles 9, 10.

I do not think it is rude - if you look at mailing lists, you find that the
best, well thought out, well formatted posts always come from people who are
extremely busy. In fact I often wonder how these people manage to do this -
they must be working 25 hours a day. The sloppily formatted posts come not
because the person is busy, but because the person has too high an opinion of
himself and does not care about the feelings of others.

You are missing the fact that top posting is not a sin.

Sometimes when you are busy you do that.

I have done that many times.

It is not as sinful as people imagine.

If you want LUG to get responses from busy people responsible for
businesses and so on(the people that know what they are talking)
then you have to put up with some inconveniences like this.

 -Girish

Well, I'm coming to the point exactly what you're talking about but the reply
adds
some flavor like privately owned approach to the list. What I was trying to say
in
my previous note we need to be more practical to all level of folks joining in
this list.
It's not something I'm forward on something today than others and follow things
which may
no where related to sin or any other related terms. It's all about how our own
protocols being
followed or keep the things simple as it as. More over, it may well reasonable
piece (quote from
your reply) and I've no where near to that but I'm bit puzzled though.

Although I have never used browser on my mobile phone, I would imagine
it is not as convenient to edit the messages to look trim and proper
(as from a desktop or laptop).

Perhaps this was the case. To some degree I agree with Girish; we
should not get too bent on rules and start missing valuable
information. It happened to me way back where the moderator
rejected my answer to a question that was posted on one of the ILUG

I find top posting as annoying as everyone else, but in my situation
it's either that or no response at all.

Problem is that smart phone email clients (GMail app on Nokia

It's not a question of convenience either, top posting is the only

 ubuntu log in
 i know that password

did you ever changed your root password?? As it is ubuntu root password has
to be set by the user.. ubuntu people donot provide root access by default.
if you had never changed it then you can change (or create) a new root
password by using current user name and password.
here is how you can:
1. login as current user
2. open terminal and issue following command:
$ sudo passwd root

the above command will ask for current user passwd so to authorize sudo
access then provide new password for root and confirm it..

i hope this had helped :)

but i cannot remember the root password
how can i know my forget password

 please tell me

This mostly means your mysql server is not running. The exact method will
depend on your distro, but in general,

/etc/init.d/mysqld start

would work.

In your case you can check certain things
1. Are you sure. is it mysql server had already installed in your system. If
so try to start it again.
if it is fedora based distro say
service mysqld start
others
/etc/init.d/mysql[d] start

then you can try the mysqladmin command

2. If you had not installed mysql server then you could install
yum install mysql-server for fedora distro's

apt-get install mysql-server for debian or ubuntu

[d] is not required when you use debian you can simply say /etc/init.d/mysql
start

That or just enable the public_html access in your apache2 config

it. I am not sure if ubuntu ships with mod_userdir though.

mod_userdir is available.

# a2enmod userdir

should do the trick.

The good option is to keep /var/www/ permissions and ownership intact,
just *don't* mess with it and to create a new directory inside it,
say

sudo mkdir /var/www/my_site/

then change owership of my_site.

sudo chown $USER:$USER /var/www/my_site/

now store your files in /var/www/my_site/ and access them using
http://localhost/my_site/

Hope That Helps.

You should read some basic PHP tutorials. Few here:

1. http://www.php.net/manual/en/index.php
2. http://www.codecoffee.com/tipsforlinux/articles2/037-php1.html

May be someelse can point out a good beginner PHP tutorial or book.

Yeah, 777 is insecure. But neither does 751 or 753 work when I try to view
the page in the browser, says permission denied.

$ sudo chmod -R 755 works fine. Maybe I should've mentioned this instead.

Why do you want to install it via a terminal? You can do:
System-Administration-Synaptic Package Manager -Edit-Mark Packages By
Task and check the Lamp Server checkbox, and it will automatically select
the necessary packages. But if you are really keen on installing it in the
terminal, type:
 $ sudo apt-get install apache2 php5 mysql-server-5.0

first there is no such thing as LAMP server. LAMP - which means Linux-apache-
mod_python-postgresql (it can also mean Linux-apache-mysql-perl) is a concept.
It basically means that instead of having one monolithic server on the remote
machine and special software on the client machine, one uses an existing
webserver - which could be Apache, nginx, lighttpd, cherokee ..., a scripting
language for your business logic - could be python, perl, ruby or even php, a
database backend - could be postgresql, sqllite (or even couchdb) and a
platform for all this - could be linux, some BSD or something else. And one
accesses all this with an ordinary browser. Your ubuntu will already have
python, perl and php. So you need to do:

sudo apt-get install apache2
sudo apt-get install postgresql

and you have LAMP. To light the LAMP is another thing - please look up some
good resource in web programming.
