Re: [ilugd] Stripped down CentOS 5.3
Hi, > I want to uninstall/Strip down the CentOS with all packages > except the > below. could someone please advise or point me to the right > approach. > What essentials packages i need to keep. Start a new installation of CentOS, on package selection screen, select Customise packages. Select the packages that you want. If some packages are not there in the default installation, you will have to install them later. After you are happy with your work, create an image so that you can install the same system on multiple systems. Re: [ilugd] amarok on ubuntu wants to initialize ipod
Hi, >P.S. In any case, it is possible to restore the iPod to >"factory >defaults" erasing everything on the disk. Even if the >initialization >goes awry you can always connect it to iTunes and >restore it. Not necessarily. My ipod was rendered unusable for about 3-4 months before I could get it working. Basically I used amarok on Ubuntu to transfer some files , and later as soon as I used to connect the Ipod to a win machine, Itunes used to crash. Later on, even amarok stopped detecting the ipod. Even gtkpod did not recognize the it. Finally I used some freeware and deleted all the songs from the ipod, and now I can use it using gtkpod. Moral of the story - Stick to one application for transferring any songs. -Devendra. Get easy, one-click access to your favorites. Linpus is a a very minimalistic version of gnu/linux shipped with acer laptops. I suggest that you replace it with a mainline distro like Mandriva or something. However, Acer laptops have problems regarding acpi. There is an kernel patch called acer_acpi, but I could not get it working. So you won't be able to check out the battery status. If you do get it working, please let me know. -Devendra Laulkar. ___ ilugd mailinglist -- ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org http://frodo.hserus.net/mailman/listinfo/ilugd Archives at: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.user-groups.linux.delhi http://www.mail-archive.com/ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org/
