[ilugd] Partition missing!
Hi, My friend was installing Debian Sarge on a 40 GB hard disk which already had windows xp - with two NTFS drives. C: - 10 GB and D: 20 GB. During the disk partitioning, he did something wrong, so he canceled it and booted back into xp - only to find his D drive missing. He told me that during the partitioning, the installer gave some error like - 'cannot overlap partition' etc . AFAIK, even if we delete a partition, we can recover the data if we haven't formated it(Correct me if I'm wrong). I googled a lot, tried a lot of tools like - gpart, testdisk but none was able to find out the D drive. BTW, I'm not concerned about recovering the entire partition - my friend just needs his outlook's .pst file. Does someone have idea about how to recover a lost partition?? Thanks for the info, but to check if a SMTP server is up, I could write a script to send mails using that server at regular intervals. Mostly the problems with the mail flow is not caused by the SMTP server, but some other problems in the network, or the Mailsweeper software which is used to scan the mails for spam and virus etc. I'm actually looking for a program which sends and receive mails at regular intervals and alerts me when it's not able to do so. We've a script which sends mails every 15 minutes, but to receive we use Thuderbird. Someone has to check manually if the mail is coming every 15 minutes. [ilugd] Flashmob
Hi, I've been always interested in the idea of clustering and have recently built a 6 node cluster at my office with Clusterknoppix. The good thing is that it doesn't require cd drive on the nodes. I ran the server from cd(later installed it to harddisk) and every machine network remote booted from the server by enabling network boot in BIOS. So adding a node to the cluster is as simple as going to each machine and changing the BIOS setting(and that's what I do after the office hours!!) We have got around 200 machines here out of which 40 are P4s. I've played so far with 6 machines that's inside my room, but soon I'll be adding at least 100 machines to my cluster. I just want to know if it's possible to boot the nodes without cd in FlashMob ? If not, I won't be able to use it as we don't have cd drives on all machines.
