I've running 7.15HF3 and Declude 1.79 and can't remember the last SMTP outage. How much messages per day are processed by this server? What NIC is in the Server? What is in the logfile before the service crash? When a crash occures, the service is simply not more responding or it goes at 100% CPU usage? [IMail Forum] IMAP
Hi, I've setup IMAP and a couple of us are trying it.But there isn't much documentation about how to do certain tasks. Can anyone give me some advice? - We're trying to setup public folders but I'm unable to do it. Also when you delete a message why doens't it get removed? - All we get is a cross through the message (although the actual message gets sent to the deleted items folder). We are running IMail 7.15 and our client is outlook. Lee Barton
Re: [IMail Forum] Imail & Declude
Sorry Scott that was a typo, we are on 7.15HF3. I have at least 2 SMTP crashes per month requiring a reboot. Any ideas? Unfortunately, no -- you might want to check the archives, or contact Ipswitch. I know some people were having a problem with (presumably) incorrectly formatted E-mails causing the SMTP service to choke, but I thought that wasn't reported or wasn't reported often with IMail v7. -Scott --- Declude JunkMail: The advanced anti-spam solution for IMail mailservers since 2000. For some time I have experienced an intermittent problem with some, not all, of my clients being able to access pop3 from their client programs (outlooks). They typically can receive email but cannot send email. This will happen to 2 or 3 of my client domains that reside on my server. This is the entry for one of our clients today that nobody in their office can send email via the client. 08:23 11:46 POP3D (0570) logon success for sashwillmail.somecompany.com from xx.xxx.xxx.xxx 08:23 11:46 POP3D (0570) logoff for sashwill R:0, D:0, P:0 This is the entire entry for this persons attempt to send an email to me on the server. I do not have their IP listed in SMTP security and do not want to. I had another client early in the morning with the same problem. I rebooted the server and their problems cleared up but this client is still having the problem. Has anybody else seen problems like this and if so what solution was found if any? Since this is only happening upon occasion I am inclined to believe the problem is somewhere outside our network. Also since it doesn't impact our clients severely I have ignored the problem for the most part. We will be upgrading to the latest version soon and I wanted to at least find out where the problem is coming from. Mark

RE: [IMail Forum] Loop back problem
Thank you Scott. I will check it out next time it occurs. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of R. Scott Perry Sent: Saturday, August 21, 2004 1:42 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [IMail Forum] Loop back problem >I have a user that is experiencing what some call a loop back issue. The >user receives email with out a problem and then one day he gets the same >email over and over again. Anywhere between 20 to 100's of the same email >delivered at the same time of day. The first thing to do is check the headers of several of the repeated E-mails. The Received: headers will typically help pinpoint where the mail loop is occurring. For example, if you see "Received: from Machine1..." followed by "Received: from Machine2..." and then "Received: from Machine1...", the loop is occurring between Machine1 and Machine2. If that doesn't get anywhere, and/or you are convinced that the issue is at the IMail server, you can check the IMail SMTP log files to see how many times the E-mail was received, and how many times it was delivered/sent. -Scott --- Declude JunkMail: The advanced anti-spam solution for IMail mailservers since 2000. I am not shure what you are doing, but you need a formailer or something to send the data from your forms to the mailserver. You can not send mail from IIS directly. If you use Frontpage on your IIS, you can use this to process the mails. otherwise you need some script (pearl, PHP, Exe, ASP...) to send the mail. Put your Server in your Spam Whitelist and the IP in the relay mail for list (127.0.0.1 and your IP). Be shure that your script does not allow relaying (as some old formail scripts do) Matti - Matti Haack - Hit Haack IT Service Gmbh Neuburger Strasse 35, D-94032 Passau +49 851 50477-22 Fax: +49 851 50477-29 http://www.haack-it.de Dieses Dokument ist ausschliesslich fuer den Adressaten bestimmt.
