[IMail Forum] Upgrade Imail Server 8.22 to 2006.3 Verdict
What is the verdict with the latest release of Imail Server 2006.3? Previously, Web Mail was way too slow and there were many other issues. Is it now safe for an ISP to deploy it or are there several outstanding issues which will cause us customer service grief? Thanks, Don Brown - Dallas, Texas USA Internet Concepts, Inc. Re: FW: [IMail Forum] IMAIL As a forwarder
Yes, but I only want to foward two mailboxes for testing purposes. That is my challenge. Just set up user forwards for those accounts. This is well-covered in the manual. You will not be able to use a domain-wide forward -- nor should you expect to be, since it's you who are limiting the test in this way. --Sandy Sanford Whiteman, Chief Technologist Broadleaf Systems, a division of Cypress Integrated Systems, Inc. e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] SpamAssassin plugs into Declude! http://www.imprimia.com/products/software/freeutils/SPAMC32/download/release/ Defuse Dictionary Attacks: Turn Exchange or IMail mailboxes into IMail Aliases! http://www.imprimia.com/products/software/freeutils/exchange2aliases/download/release/ http://www.imprimia.com/products/software/freeutils/ldap2aliases/download/release/ To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/
RE: [IMail Forum] IMAIL As a forwarder
Title: Message We have something setup similar to what I believe youre asking for. On our Imail server our email is setup, with all users. Then on our exchange system (SBS 2003 not 5.5 but should work either way) we have our email setup. To forward mail to the exchange box, we have forwards setup in Imail but for a sub domain, and then add the sub domain addresses as extra mailboxes in exchange. That way when sending from either exchange or Imail it would show the right sending address, but mail would forward correctly and you can do per mailbox things in Imail since it is your gateway. For Ex: Email address: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sub domain address [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mail from the outside would enter Imail, go through spam/virus processing and then forward the mail to the sub domain address. Now Imail would lookup the sub domain to see where to send it (we have a host entry on the mail server). You dont need an MX record just a host file entry pointing to your exchange server. Imail sends the mail along to the exchange server. At the exchange server, it receives the mail and delivers it to the correct mailbox (since the sub domain address is added as an additional email on each mailbox). When replying, exchange would be setup with the correct address as default and would send out accordingly. Weve had this kind of system setup for some time, works great, no problems. Nightmare for me. We ran on 2003.6 for about a month but it never got better. Webmail was 75% unresponsive. Time outs, very slow, unreliable. Couldn't load iadmin most of the time to administer the system. We downgraded back to 8.22 I hope they work out the issues. you do need a fairly new server to run 2006 especially if you've already got a busy 8.0x server. web messaging speed was vastly improved with 2006.03 though. Jeff Dove wrote: Nightmare for me. If you are using IIS you have to make sure that the virtual directories (ng_common, iclient, and iadmin, for admin purposed) are added to the website with the ability to execute scripts. Also, make sure that the user IIS_WPG has read, execute, and list rights to the directory that the site is stored in. RE: [IMail Forum] Upgrade Imail Server 8.22 to 2006.3 Verdict
IE for the Mac is no longer supported, and in fact Microsoft recommends AGAINST using it. It has been (or soon will be if it hasn't) removed from the Apple Download section. Expecting Ipswitch to support it is a longshot. IMO if it works for Safari, that should be sufficient. It already works for Firefox. Those are the two most common (supported) browsers on the Mac. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Don Brown Sent: Thursday, April 27, 2006 2:39 PM To: Kevin Gillis Cc: Imail_Forum@list.ipswitch.com Subject: Re: [IMail Forum] Upgrade Imail Server 8.22 to 2006.3 Verdict How about IE?
