Thanks a lot friends for all your support.

We finally drove down to Jabalpur State Forest Research Institute and
found all the trees that we were looking for. Not only Buchanania lanzan but
we also found saplings of white butea monosperma, Eleocarpus Ganitrus
(rudraksh), sterculia urens, mitragyna parviflora (krishna kadam) and many
 others.

On our way back we were driving through a reserve forest on National
Highway 12 and suddenly we came across this frangrance ( like that of
Michelia Champaka) which appeared to be coming from all directions.

We noticed the likely source of this fragrance soon after as patches of
white flowers atop large sized trees amidst the dense green, Have attached
them in this mail for identification if possible.

 rakesh

We have been trying for the last two years to get a 'Buchanania
Lanzan' sapling for our farm but we have been unsuccessful.

We are trying the 'germinating from seeds' option now but the
seed supplier in Bhopal kept telling us they will be available in march
 and
then april and now he says it would be available only in may.

I would be grateful for advice from you on what are the usual period
of availability of these seeds that may be germinated.

It may not be Cleidion because the flowers of the plant in the picture

Steps are given below:

1) Select any ‘Efloraofindia’ mail

2) Click: More actions

3) Click: Filter messages like these

4) It will automatically show: Has the words: list: (
indiantreepix.googlegroups.com)

7) In that Click: New label

8) Enter the name Efloraofindia

9) You will see the message in a box: Your filter is created.

10) Click/ Select on the next box saying: Also apply filter to …

Nayan ji is right about Kurru. If you go near to this plant you will find gum
droplets oozing out. Please see this image.

If you try to reach near to this flower for best close up a fly locally known
as Lokti will surround you and try to enter in ear and nose. Its fragrance
attracts many insects.

Thanks a lot friends for all your support.

We finally drove down to Jabalpur State Forest Research Institute and found
all the trees that we were looking for. Not only Buchanania lanzan but we also
found saplings of  white butea monosperma, Eleocarpus Ganitrus (rudraksh),
sterculia urens, mitragyna parviflora (krishna kadam) and many others.

On our way back we were driving through a reserve forest on National Highway
12 and suddenly we came across this frangrance ( like that of Michelia
Champaka) which appeared to be coming from all directions.

We noticed the likely source of this fragrance soon after as patches of white
flowers atop large sized trees amidst the dense green, Have attached them in
this mail for identification if possible.

rakesh

We have been trying for the last two years to get a 'Buchanania Lanzan'
sapling for our farm but we have been unsuccessful.

We are trying the 'germinating from seeds' option now but the
seed supplier in Bhopal kept telling us they will be available in
march and then april and now he says it would be available only in may.

I would be grateful for advice from you on what are the usual period of
availability of these seeds that may be germinated.

Not only Buchanania lanzan but we
also found saplings of  white butea monosperma, Eleocarpus Ganitrus
(rudraksh), sterculia urens, mitragyna parviflora (krishna kadam) and many
others.

On our way back we were driving through a reserve forest on National Highway
12 and suddenly we came across this frangrance ( like that of Michelia
Champaka) which appeared to be coming from all directions.

We noticed the likely source of this fragrance soon after as patches of white
flowers atop large sized trees amidst the dense green, Have attached them in
this mail for identification if possible.

rakesh

 Bot. name : Chlorophytum tuberosum
 local name :Kuli
 Hindi: Safed Musli
 famiily Liliaceae
One can see these flowers immediately after the first few showers. The
leaves are cooked and eaten. This herb is also called edible chlorophytum.
 Leaves are radical and membranous.

 Etymology:

Chloros = green and Phyton is a plant.

 Roots are tuberous, hence tuberosum

One can see these flowers immediately after the first few showers. The

 Leaves are radical and membranous.

 Roots are tuberous, hence tuberosum

[efloraofindia:39678] One more video of bees hovering over the flowers of delonix regia

Hi,
One more video showing how the flowers attract insects by variation in the
colour of petals. The flowers of Delonix regia are very attractive. But what is
attractive to human eyes ( the scarlet coloured petals) is probably not so
attractive for insects.
U vil notice in the video that bees are mainly attracted towards the largest
petal of the flower which is marked with yellow and white.
the video is taken at Tadgaum, near Vapi in the month of June 2010. the link is

Once again good observation and nice video.

I am not aware whether there is facility of uploading such important films
available in our database or not? If there is space, then it must be
uploaded there.

Keeping video in personal site is bit difficult. I purchased 8 GB space for

service provider instructed me to remove videos. Now I have to shift to

flowers of delonix regia

  Hi,
One more video showing how the flowers attract insects by variation in the
colour of petals. The flowers of Delonix regia are very attractive. But what is
attractive to human eyes ( the scarlet coloured petals) is probably not so
attractive for insects.
U vil notice in the video that bees are mainly attracted towards the largest
petal of the flower which is marked with yellow and white.
the video is taken at Tadgaum, near Vapi in the month of June 2010. the link
is below.

  Cheers,
  Shubhada
