shows erect habit due to support of grasses. Identify by height 30 cm, pods
slightly exerted from calyx, inflorescence dense, pods transversely
wrinkled. I am happy to suggest you this is new report of this species and

(Asteraceae) - A new distributional record for India. Rhedeea, 22(1):
32-34. C. Haleshi, A. N. Sringeswara, Sahana Vishwanath, M. D. Rajanna and
Balakrishna Gowda.

But posted plant does not seem to match images of *Acanthospermum australe*
found on net. Will return later to this post if I find any better
possibility.

Yes, I found postings in efi to be quite variable. Is there any other
species of this genera found in India or is this a variable species or
showing variation during different life stages. You can check if some
details are available in genera page of efi site.

I have no idea about the posted plant's family. Most of the photos are
cropped versions, to show some aspects closer.
Flowers could be (not very sure) 10 mm across, 25 mm long; the second
photo, perhaps shows fruits, could be 8 - 10 mm across.

Basic question is whether this species is cultivated in India or not.
From the data from ILDIS & other net sources, I feel a few observations

It is not reported in India (except for a reference of 1914) as per
 ILDIS in
contrast to references of *Calliandra haematocephala*

 Garg ji,
Same doubt for me as well. It is very difficult to pinpoint the sps Id
from photographs. Nevertheless, please check the following links for
 comparison.

Calliandra haematocephala x surinamensis Nana -
 http://toptropicals.com/catalog/uid/CALLIANDRA_nana.htm

 . Calliandra surinamensis -http://toptropicals.com/cat
 alog/uid/CALLIANDRA_SURINAMENSIS.htm .

You can view photographs of many other species of *Calliandra too in
this website . Please compare and decide.*

 Dear friends,
This plant could be very simply *Trichosanthes tricuspidata*; the
conspicuous stipules caught my attention. Have not seen them during various
earlier sightings of *T. tricuspidata*. Moreover, the leaves and leaf
margin too seem to vary. Please help.
