Re: [efloraofindia:339098] Small Tree for ID : Rajpipla, Gujarat : 09DEC19 : AK-5

2019-12-30 Thread Anup Deshpande
Hello all
I could not see any prickles in the images. Please confirm whether the
prickles are present. If it is present, it should be in pairs near the
nodes.
There are two possibilities. 1. Mostly it is some Albizia species. 2. It
can be Senegalia chundra / S. catechu. Very rarely, some individuals of
these two species do not have any prickles.

But, in my opinion, this is some Albizia species.
Thank you

[efloraofindia:339077] Tribute to Surajit Koley ji on New Year Eve- around 1 lakh images inserted in 2019

2019-12-30 Thread J.M. Garg
Dear members,
Suarjit Koley ji has been one of our Pillars before he left us for his
other priority works in Dec.2015.
It is he who has set insertion of images on sound footing with his design
of tabular format, where we can see both the text & images in any size of
window without any distortions. He became a pioneer in this matter and many
others. He was the Hero of the efloraofindia site in 2015.
His contributions are so enormous that it still leaves me wondering. He was
just a layman when he joined efi in Dec.2011. He surprised every one of us
with his wonderful and detailed documentation along with detailed diagnosis
based on books like Bengal Plants, Flora of British India etc. I realised
the importance of his postings and analysis, when I went deeper into it.
His true worth can be judged from the fact that he still appears in top 10
posters even
after four years of leaving efi.
On New Year Eve (as we completed insertion of around 1 lakh images in 2019,
in efi site), it is worth a recall how sacrifices by persons like Surajit
Koley, has made Efloraofindia a reality.

 Some earlier relevant feedback:

Resembles Zanthoxylum sp,- from Paradesi ji.
 Agree with Paradesi ji.
 Thank you.
 Saroj Kasaju

Pardesi ji & Saro j ji,
The picture is not matching with any of the species in the net. Please
suggest which species of Xanthoxylum - from Mahadeswara ji

Please check *Zanthoxylum oxyphyllum* Edgeworth !
 Thank you.
 Saroj Kasaju

but Saroji, did you take those remarkable thorns on the leaves into
account. Z. oxyphyllum pictures on the net do not show any thorns. not only
that they do not show any hairs on the leaves either.
before my internet went dead a few days ago, i had puzzled over this
plant and was working my way thru the taxonomic key.
i dont remember seeing any thing that describes this very remarkable
 single picture.
 Mahadeswaraji
can you friend give us more details and pictures?
 Regards

I contacted my friend for additional picture(s). But he has only this
 one.

[efloraofindia:339043] Re: Bulbophyllum cylindraceum Wall. ex Lindl.

2019-12-30 Thread Dr Pankaj Kumar
Sorry, I gave him wrong name by mistake earlier. B. cylindraceum will have
large bract before flowers and B. khasyanum will not have. Hence this is
khasyanum.
It was my mistake earlier. But, now I assume I am correct. I checked the
type.
Thanks a lot for sharing.
