Thanks, Singh ji,
This only comes when I go through all the posts of all other members
including those of Sukla ji, yours etc. along with their perusal with
online resources like efloras, POWO, Catalogue of Life etc.
Than putting them in comparative images along with distribution etc.
Then everything sinks in.
And then I am able to say what this is and what this is not.
*We have accumulated wonderful knowledge in efloraofindia and it requires
someone to harness it.*

[efloraofindia:356097] Re: Ardisia humilis

2020-07-27 Thread J.M. Garg
Hi, Shareef ji,
Is the inflorescence axillary or terminal ? Do you have an image showing
that ?
*Ardisia humilis *Vahl have distribution in Bangladesha and Mynamar as
per Catalogue
of life

and
east Himalayas as per POWO

;
As per keys in Flora of China, Difference appears to be based on
inflorescence.
For *Ardisia humilis* Vahl
,
Inflorescences terminal, rarely terminating lateral branchlets,
subumbellate or cymose in pyramidal panicles, 8-17(-20) cm (FoC illustration
).
For *Ardisia elliptica* Thunberg

(syn: *Ardisia solanacea* (Poir.) Roxb.
),
Inflorescences
axillary or subterminal on basally thickened lateral branches, subumbellate
or umbellate.
Pl. clarify.

Most of our observations in efloraofindia have been of *Ardisia elliptica*
,
as per details herein.

Here is a herb or shrublet from Satajaan Bird Sanctuary, Assam,
found blooming in December. Reminds me of Lindernia family,
but I have not been able to identify it.
   Any help is welcome.
Cheers!

Dear members,
Dr. K. SANKARA RAO has done a wonderful job, in leading a competent team
 to put at a
single place known species in Peninsular India, along with details like
descriptions and keys from the books (in the form of images), herbarium
specimens, digital images, state wise and district wise distribution etc.
We should be proud of him and his wonderful team.
You will not believe that he is 80 plus and could execute such a
challenging assignment at this age.
We would like to know from him, whenever time permits, how he went about
it, difficulties faced during the journey and feelings on getting it done.
We would also like to know the experience of the other members of the team,
for everybody's benefit here.
My hats off to such a wonderful leader and his great team.

2020-07-27 Thread J.M. Garg
After pursuing the publication attached by Saroj ji and posts in
efloraofindia, I feel it is different from both *G.acuminatum *and *G.
triandrum *(GBIF
).
It also looks different from *Glochidion bourdillonii *Gamble as per GBIF
 specimens.
I think it appears close to *Glochidion lanceolarium *as per GBIF specimens
from India

as

 Dear Saroj ji,
Thank you so much for sharing the publication. Now please decide. Is
 your plant not Glochidion acuminatum?

 Dear Saroj ji,
Glochidion assamicum is now a synonym of G. ellipticum,
characterised by shallowly 4-lobed fruits. Meanwhile I have also
 checked
the neotype of G. triandrum from Philippines. Your plant is not that
species either. The real identity can be established only through
 further
 studies.
 Regards,
 Tapas.

 Saroj ji,
This species was described from Philippines. Fl. China is also
listing this species in India and Nepal. Unfortunately I have not
 seen any
specimen. At least it does not occur in India.
