Thanks Giby, but theplantlist says it is an unresolved name...as far as I
know only one sp of Ruellia, i.e. R. tuberosa is naturalized in India. All
other wild species come under Dipteracanthus. But, I am not sure of the
current name for this taxon, you may be right in saying Ruellia.

Thank you Vijay for pointing out my mistake.
Only *Ruellia tuberosa* is naturalized in India.

Here I think the leaves are smaller than that of *Dipteracanthus prostratus.
*It is not very clear whether the plant is prostrate or erect from the
picture. * *
Any chance of *Ruellia *patula (Syn: Dipteracanthus patulus)?

a sapling of Manilkara with us right now and we were just wondering by how
many years it is likely to bear fruit or at least grow tall, give shade.

We have noticed a few Manilkara trees near our locality that been told to
have not gone beyond 4 feet in 10 years so we were wondering if it is really
that kind of a slow grower.

Yes I agree with Neil ji that this is Cryptolepis buchananii (please note the 
spelling) the new name of this species is Cryptolepis dubia (Burm.f.) 
M.R.Almeida of  Apocynaceae family.

Let me clarify once again that the family name is not going to be put in
this Names of Plants in India project ... because this database is being
manually built - *it is not programmatic* ... any change that occurs due to
change in family will be a frustrating exercise to repair the data.
Therefore no mention of family ... am sure it does not really make the data
incomplete.

The crux of the project is names of the plants  the common names of the
plants do not change ... the botanical names' status of the plants are
liable to change -- those changes too prove difficult for repairing !!

No mam, they wont become pot bond. they have to be maintained but
pruning the roots as well as branches and its not matter of years but
every year you have to do this to maintain the plant live, or it can
break the pot too and once the pot is full of roots then obviously
there is no nutrition inside...

 Let me clarify once again that the family name is not going to be put in
 this Names of Plants in India project ... because this database is being
 manually built - *it is not programmatic* ... any change that occurs due
 to change in family will be a frustrating exercise to repair the data.
 Therefore no mention of family ... am sure it does not really make the data

 The crux of the project is names of the plants  the common names of
 the plants do not change ... the botanical names' status of the plants are
 liable to change -- those changes too prove difficult for repairing !!

 The *horseweed *is mainly composed of: flavonoids, organic acids, tannins,
 alkaloids, essential oil, lemon, di terpene, terpineol and choline.

 *Recipes from this herb:*

 Internal use:
 The infusion of *horseweed *and flowers to 1%, states such as liver
 decongestant. It should take 2-3 cups per day.

 The infusion at 3-4% is used as a diuretic in diseases of the
 genitor-urinary and urethral washings.

 The decoction of the whole *plant *to 10% is used as purifying ant
 rheumatic, primarily to eliminate uric acid.

 External use:
 Decoction, use one tablespoon per quart of water, and let it boil for 3-5
 minutes. Do not exceed recommended daily dose.

 Poultice: leaves are used externally as a poultice for disinfection of
 wounds, against the hemorrhoids, and vermifuge

I am using Irfan view software for viewing pictures. In that, after opening
a picture, click English alphabet  i  in your computer key board then
information related to that picture will appear. I found Irfan view is a
nice software for picture viewing and simple editing. This is a freely
downloadable software.

You mention it as wild. Was it close to the habitation?
