Re: [Inkscape-docs] Website design

2016-10-14 Thread Hinerangi Courtenay
Hi Maren :)

Yes a preconfigured virtual machine would be so great! I tried setting up a
vagrantfile with the idea of sharing it with anyone who needed it (eg. Mac
users), but got lost in the Django details :(

Launchpad is also an unfamiliar tool for me (used to Github, Bitbucket, Gitlab,
etc), so I really should take the time to get used to it (at least just the
code/issues/pull requests).

Cheers,Hinerangi

- Hinerangi, great to see you again (and all this sudden buzzing of
people, it's amazing!)

Would it help you to have a VirtualMachine for VirtualBox, where
everything is set up and the only things you'd need to do is open a
terminal and enter a command to run the server / edit the files?

Regards,
 Maren

I've prepared a VM for VirtualBox (or any other virtualization software
that can read ova files) and some instructions for use, and could upload
it later today, so anyone who is interested can use it for working on
the website development version locally.

Re: [Inkscape-docs] how about some marketing and outreach?

2016-10-13 Thread Hinerangi Courtenay
Hi Sylvain,
Yeah I think Elisa added the contributors bit after I'd put the project aside,
I didn't sign my name anywhere :) Sorry about that!
I can start doing some translations again if you want, but if there are got any
chapters you don't want me to touch (eg. because they're in progress already)
just let me know. I'll also read through the ones you did – are they quite
close to the original texts or more of an adaptation?
Cheers,Hinerangi

Looks slangish, chewed words between friends and guys from a common
community. Quite cool.
Yes, the drawings are very nice.

We’re waiting for your bug report then — :).

Do you have editor access? I said that for the website editors.

Thanks, will be very helpful.

Nice to meet you Hinerangi. (Then I’ll send another mail about the
website design…)

Means I wasn’t much more informed than Brynn, I thought Elisa did these
translations before me. Well, you should add your name in the About chapter.

I know who you are, I got interested in Inkscape.org’s details and
you’re linked from the footer — :).
I had initially planned Brynn would involve for reviewing my
translations once greatly done, but of course you can check them too.

I couldn’t go far during last 6 months; yes, some help from Fred and you
would be really appropriate.

Weird… You might look for sending plain text e-mails, rather than HTML ones.

Re: [Inkscape-docs] re Documentation section of Develop page

2015-01-24 Thread Hinerangi Courtenay
Hello Brynn,
Mathew made contact with the others not long after myself – he is also a
designer, so we'll be working together to redesign the website. Mathew has made
a start on wireframes and a revised site map (linked to by Maren), and I have
started on the general design direction (https://inkscape.org/en/gallery/5498/).
If it interests you I started a Trello board for the redesign, so we all know
where we're at – and any of us can add/assign/label tasks to the backlog or
vote for them (the backlog is just a brain dump where we can create tickets for
anything that comes to mind, but only things agreed upon should be moved to the
todo column). If preferred we can make the group public so it can be visible to
all, but editable only by those invited. Let me know if you would like to be
added.

Cheers,Hinerangi

P.S. I have also just joined the docs list.

I'm joined too.  Should I repost?

Actually I didn't even know we had a 4th volunteer.  What kind of work,
generally, will he generally be doing?

to have our own, in case docs will one day be resuscitated ;) )

While we wait for OSUOSL to come back, we should get everyone to join
 ubuntu-docs mailing list:

 https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/inkscape-docs

Brynn, Mathew especially but everyone overall, we should make sure
content changes are also made aware to the inkscape-developers mailing
list. If there's a lot of changes then a weekly report would be ideal.
