Re: Xig on I7k
Are there people out there successfully using the commercial Xig Xserver for the Inspiron 7000? Half their web page says its supported, and the other half says it is not.If so, can you provide any details on anything special you had to do to get it working? I will add this info to my I7K web page. Brian Chambers ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) says that they are still "trying to get someone to send one of those [I7k] for support." I recently wrote them, somehow the mail got lost, and volunteered my I7K with 4meg ATI. Got back the reply that they were not interested as it was supported as part of the generic ATI LT (if I remember correctly). Re: Xig on I7k
I did get the Flashfilm card to mount correctly at /mnt/hde1. However, it does not like to umount, it complains that the device is busy. Try to use 'lsof' to figure out what keeps this device busy. RE: Xig on I7k
The Xig server for my Inspiron 7000 worked OK for me. I did have to pull a patch off the xig ftp site, but then it wasn't too difficult. I didn't have to know anything about horizontal freq, vertical freq, dot clock, ramdac, etc. I installed it under Slackware 3.5 using the UMSDOS file system (just a c:\linux directory in my win98 partition with all of the installation below). I haven't played with it much, but it seemed to work just fine. I didn't notice any problems.
