Colin, I have the 2009 Passport. I found it valuable in running down QSLs for foreign stations, even though it was aimed a SW. There are a couple sites on the web too, but having the hard copy of the Passport is handy. [IRCA] Great Eastern propagation into the Pacific NW tonight
Hi all: If any Pacific NW DXers need something from the midwest, tonight might be the night. In about a 5 minute span, I had clear IDs from 670-WSCR, 700-WLW, 720-WGN, 760-WJR and 780-WBBM. None are new here, but some are pretty darn rare, especially WLW. 670-WSCR from Chicago was left almost in the clear after my little Super Loop nulled flamethrower KBOI-Boise, which is notoriously difficult to get rid of here. Boise bears 130 degrees from me, about 45 degrees from the loop's backside, so I am pleased with how well it nulls that far from the end-fire. Chicago is only 40 degrees further away (it bears 090 degrees), so the null was narrow enough that it didn't take much of a bite out of WSCR. The State of Alaska will perform a special EAS test on January 6, 2010 at approximately 10 AM local time [1900 UT]. The test will exercise the EAN (Emergency Action Notification) code. This is the code established for the President of the United States. This code has never been used in a test exercise before now. Hi Guys: One New Station tonight @ SUNSET which is NEW to both the ULR and OVERALL LOGS! Nice to hear a Detailed SIGNOFF on WTSB 1090for a New One!! Also had a UNID on 700 Khz with ESPN Prgramming. It appeared to be from an SouthEast or NorthWest Orientation from me? I wonder if this may be the Athol, MASS. Station ...reverted back to ESPN Programming??? If not...I have NO IDEA who this is?? Originally did a check at 1440UT, and did get one of the NHK2 channels at good strength. A later check at 1520ish nailed a couple of Aussies, which have been unusual of late (NHK2 had signed off it seems by then). Bill, Daytime DX here in Salmon Creek, WA seems ok this afternoon at 12:05 PM PST. KFBK 1530 Sacramento, CA is in with a fair signal with a lot of fading. 497 miles as the crow flies. KGO 810, CKNX 1060 not heard, CKNX has been heard in the car a few times when conditions to the North are good during daylight hours.
