[IRCA] TP for 10 Jan from Victoria, BC
Another ho hum morning here I'm afraid, though there was evidence of a couple of DU signals. Checked the radio at 1500 (NHK2 s/off), 1520 and 1540UT. Closely monitoring erratic signals may have netted a few more catches, but I chose breakfast instead pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly): 774 JOUB at times during s/off reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise): 828 JOBB 972 HLCA at 1541UT 1575 VoA at 1527 not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker 594 JOAK 639 CNR-1 //4460 747 JOIB s/off Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) : 612 likely 4QR, DU direction and EE inflected talk 936 Anhui? 1116 DU direction Strongish het, no audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter): 855 hum, 1098 Asian direction, 1566 best wishes, Nick ** Nick Hall-Patch Victoria, BC Canada ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com * Nick Hall-Patch Victoria, BC Canada ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
Re: [IRCA] TP for 10 Jan from Victoria, BC
Checked the radio at 1500 (NHK2 s/off), 1520 and 1540UT. Interesting, that means the faint piano music I noted on 774 at 1525 and 1536 was not coming from Japan. Much too weak to possibly ID it, but something to watch for on a better morning. 73, Nigel Pimblett currently in Lamont, Alberta ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
[IRCA] unID morse code 1710
On Tue Dec 15 in the evening, on 1710, on south wire, I heard two streams of rapid and prolonged morse code. Three recordings are online if anyone wants to listen. The code is too fast for me to copy, and it doesn't seem as simple as a three or four-letter beacon. www.wtfda.info/showthread.php?p=11030#post11030 I have seen no real reports of anything like this. [IRCA] 1310 Spanish unID
Have spent a fair bit of time on 1310 lately trying to nail several Spanish-language stations. I did nab a Mega ID with Latin music on 1310 for WEMG Camden NJ. But I cannot seem to get anything solid on a Christian Spanish-language spoken word station. I'm attaching several clips from Dec. 17. We're likely talking about the east side of the continent - I was on my south wire, from just north of Toronto. Any thoughts are appreciated. www.wtfda.info/showthread.php?p=11031#post11031 The unID site is maintained by the WTFDA, by the way. Re: [IRCA] [Amdx] unID morse code 1710
Saul: It sure sounds like amateur radio to me. On one listen to each of the three clips, I pulled out the name Gary twice and the word classic and some business about a QSO. Maybe a powerful 160 meter operator getting enough signal into your front end to break through (some sort of product, maybe?) This might explain the high note of the code, too. I'll listen more carefully when I get home. I'm at work right now. The report from a DXpedition held in central Pennsylvania 28-29 Dec 2009 is online at: http://www.radiodxing.com/zion/zion.html This was the first time that Don Moore, Dave Valko and I had met to DX together in nearly 30 years. [IRCA] Russian 1710
Noted a station on 1710 (well, a shade low) tonight with programming that sure seems to fit the Seattle area Russian station discussed some months back. It's not strong enough to be 100% certain it's Russian, but the music certainly fits. For some reason during the speech segment I was hearing two women speaking, almost like a second station, but it wasn't, as when the music resumed things returned to normal. If someone could confirm that the Seattle station is still on it would be appreciated.
[IRCA] Saul's Morse Code on 1710
Saul, It's likely an amateur radio conversation. I heard a couple BT sigs meaning a sentence break and the name Gary. At 0419 utc I'm getting a very weak het about a level 3. Will continue to check throughout the evening. At 0423 utc very faint audio with man talking, can not ID language.
