RE: Bruce, Tnx for the tip. I hastened to check 1359 and do a 9-kHz bandscan between 0540 and 0550 UT Feb 5. 1359 certainly stands out, and seems right on by pitch, so not a variant. Re: [IRCA] [Amdx] January AM DX @ Burnt River ON
Saul DX wrote: Thanks, Scott. I was wondering about this. So would this truly constitute a new station / new log in your opinion? We're deep into judgment call territory here. On the one hand, the move from Chambersburg to Maugansville is fairly short in distance - about 14.75 km, if I have the coordinates of both sites correctly. And the move increased WHGT's day power, making it less of a challenge to receive. On the other hand, the move took WHGT across a state line, at least as far as COL is concerned (the new tx site remains in Pennsylvania), and if WHGT was operating with its new 58-watt night power (which sounds unlikely), that would be a much greater DX challenge than its old 1000-watt night facility. I don't think *I* would count it as a new station. [IRCA] ULR DX....SUNSET SKIP Tonight....One NEW STATION.....and a LOT MORE SNOW!!!!!! Again........
Hi Guys: Well...I settled in for some Sunset Skip DX tonight about 1630 EST. It had JUST started to Snow!!! When I was finished at about 1800 EST...we had about 6-8 Inches more snow than when I started less than 2 Hours earlier!!! I haven't measured itor shoveled it yet...but it's gotta be at least that deep!! Guess I know what I'll be doing in the morning!! No use doing it now as it's still coming down!! At least I did get something for my troubles as I logged a NEW STATION (GraveYarder) on 1450 from Montreal!! It was in Arabic...and I was aware that there is also an Ethnic Station on 1450 from Cicero, ILLINOIS...which I have logged before. The mention of 1450 AM and a mention of MONTREAL convinced me it was CHOU in Montreal. But.I checked the Live Webfeeds for both Stations and found it was indeed CHOU. Cicero had Arabic as well.but it was an entirely different Program (Talk Show)...whereas CHOU had A Live DJ with Music and Calls from Listeners!!
