Re: [IRCA] India on Ultralight Radio
Hi Everyone, Regarding the recent mentions of logging India on an Ultralight Radio As Jim Renfrew mentions, From Signal Hill,Newfoundland this past fall, I heard what sounded like Indian type music only for a short period of time with no chance at hearing anything further such as ID or talk, as the signal diminished quickly thereafter, At this point I cannot say with certainty that it truly was the India signal on 1566. Re: [IRCA] India on Ultralight Radio
Hi Allen, Sorry for the confusion. I found out about Chuck's 1566-India logging (in November of 2008 on an SRF-T615) from Guy Atkins, and Chuck has been very modest about sharing the details. India is prime target for Grayland, WA DXers, who seem to have a fascination with it. Since you are the official records keeper for the Ultralightdx Yahoo group, Allen, and we haven't yet heard of an official First India logging, I thought that Chuck's reception was the only one. Good luck in tracking it down again, for an official logging. 73, Gary -Original Message- From: Allen Willie vo1_001_...@yahoo.ca To: irca irca@hard-core-dx.com Sent: Sun, Feb 13, 2011 6:22 am Subject: Re: [IRCA] India on Ultralight Radio Hi Everyone, Regarding the recent mentions of logging India on an Ultralight Radio As Jim Renfrew mentions, From Signal Hill,Newfoundland this past fall, I heard what sounded like Indian type music only for a short period of time with no chance at hearing anything further such as ID or talk, as the signal diminished quickly thereafter, At this point I cannot say with certainty that it truly was the India signal on 1566. At 2014 EST on Feb 4, I logged WMSP with ESPN on 740, so that could be what you heard. I don't think they'd make it here on their night power, so it could also indicate that they had the day power on late, at least on this occasion. WRCE itself is a throwaway station in that cluster. It's mainly used to simulcast other stations in the cluster, usually Piggie 100.9 WPGI Horseheads, but sometimes WNGZ 104.9 Montour Falls or WWLZ 820 Horseheads. WRCE breaks away from simulcast mode occasionally on weekends to carry auto racing, either NASCAR coverage or a simulcast of the track announcements from the Watkins Glen International raceway. When they're carrying racing from the Glen, there are often long periods of dead air or wild sound of cars on the track. I go to the Glen a few times a year with my dad, who's been going there since they were racing in the streets in the early fifties, and it's always interesting to play the what's on WRCE today? game... s ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
