Well, I did go back to those dipole antennae, and they're still active! In fact there are 3, but they aren't from a broadcast station, but a very fancy ham station. Furthermore, the place is for sale as well, so the person has moved on, or passed away. The poles are not very old, and at least 2 times higher than the power lines. Hard to believe that the power authority would allow two of them to cross the power lines! The lead in, instead of being tied to the guard rail, actually continues via coax underground. I couldn't follow it any further than into a ravine. Interesting, but obviously beyond the scope of my exploration! Last day in Rarotonga, so I'll be on my way home tonight. 73 to all! This morning it was back to the previous pattern, with all the TP audio being at the top end of the dial. VOA 1575 was top dog today, with fair to good audio, peaking around 1500. Otherwise it was just poor to occassionally fair from 1566 and poor on 1593. Down lower, 774 was the best, with a good carrier, but not quite to audio level. Hi All: I think they're simulcasting for now. I'll try and find out when possible. WILE usually dominates here but WQTT can sometimes to heard fairly well. I'd noticed this change too, but since they were still using the WQTT, 1270 ID I assumed they were simulcasting. Thanks Ben, I couldn't believe my ears at first. Last night was an excellent night for TA's at least after 10:30- 11, which is when I started I think. As far as France goes I have a carrier right now on 1467 where the French KW TWR station is, unfortunately no audio so far. Got VOR 1548 again right now, male and female announcers in RR, also what sounds like R Sawa in the background with a foreign sounding pop ballad in the back ground. Just nabbed a Kape Radio ID and mention of 100 dot 3 (100.3) a few minutes ago...for a new catch here at Burnt River ON. Glad CBEF has been off. I've been after this one! Mixing with WDLR Delaware OH, which has a huge signal. If they're hiring reporters and such it means it will be staffed, and I'll be able to let them know - in a friendly journalist to journalist way - that they're not on nite power/pattern. When it was Que Buena I was unable to find a working phone number to the station (I wonder if that in itself is against FCC rules). Hello All, Phil Bytheway of Seattle has been a major contributor to our Ultralight Radio enthusiast group over the past 5 years, editing a World of Ultralight Radio column for both NRC's DX News and IRCA's DX Monitor bulletins for the past 2 years.
