[IRCA] TP 27 Aug Victoria version

2016-08-27 Thread Nick Hall-Patch
For late August, it wasn't a morning for which to leap out of
bedusual suspects without much enthusiasm.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker,
at least briefly):

 no enthusiasm here

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it
understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

or here

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or
noise could be understood by a native speaker:

738 pop music 1223UT
774 JOUB 1058UT man in Japanese, gone by hour
1566 HLAZ man in Japanese 1240UT (also man talking 1101UT, presumably
the Chinese program)

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be
guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in
talk or music)

567 man and woman talking, DU English inflection 1307UT
612 //774 4QR/3LO pop music 1259 followed by bits of the ABC news fanfare
1053 Korean jammer 1213, 1245UT

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or
ravaged by splatter)

Re: [IRCA] [NRC-AM] Cx are improving. WEEI 850 MA logged for the 3rd time tonight

2016-08-27 Thread Neil Kazaross
I am getting some TA carriers but little audio as cx aren't that good yet.
A more prolonged period of low solar activitity is needed. 774 and 783 are
ruined by WBBM here, although in great cx I've managed to pull in SS on 774
with phasing. Are you sure 1512 isn't from Greece also? This carrier hangs
around longer than 1521 here. WFTL is likely "outta spec" as they can be
raised here on the South DKAZ sometimes even in non AU cx.

I plan to do some DKAZ array work in the fall from WI once TA cx improves.
A BSEF array of 4 would really rock, but I think even there I am lacking
room for such. I want to make a better attempt at an endfire array and have
plans to test similar here in IL.

Subject: AM Log received!

The new AM Log looks great! It includes a new "By State" section in the back
that will be very helpful.

I have already informed Wayne Heinen of the "36th Edition" typo on the cover
page so please don't bombard him with emails or messages on that. Obviously,
it is the 37th Edition.

Unsolicited endorsement: The NRC AM Log continues to be the most accurate
source of AM Radio stations in the U.S. and Canada. It has been since John
Callarman hand-typed the First Edition on mimeograph stencils in 1968 in
Greater Boston.
