At the moment, I'm hearing KBIF, Fresno over another weaker cochannel with
a SE Asian sounding language. Lots of mentions of Fresno. Possibly
Vietnamese? Good level. All this at 04:40 UTC or 9:42 PM PDT. 900 kHz,
of course. A "new" frequency for me! ...Walt

Colin,

CHML may have more of a lobe towards me, being 160 miles South of
Victoria, but they are sure common. The three fairly common Ontario
stations there days are Hamilton-900, Toronto-740, and Oshawa-1580. But
Quebec is really tough to hear. Very rare.

Not sure if I will be that lucky --
but I did check last night. There were a couple of
stations present on 900 khz.
I did not hang out long enough to squeeze out any
ID's.

Many thanks to Walt for pointing out the carrier collapse
of CKMO - it seems like we have been sitting on our hands waiting
for this for some time.

This is a historic event for AM radio in Victoria - I imagine
the last time we only had one active frequency in the
city of Victoria on the AM band was uhm...

1923!

Enjoy the new frequency folks!

It happened today I guess, Walt. At 1200UT (5AM PDT) this morning
the carrier was still there...

Your personal antennae are working well. After years of DXing,

electromagnetic environment, hi.

Since CKMO cut their modulation, CHML Hamilton Ontario has been very
common here. Infact I have been trying for MN, but so far no luck. But
I do hear CHML a lot.

Brilliant! Good call on that on Walter.

Funny - I have the Drake on almost every day and the
Icom 703+ on all evening and I regularly do a band scan
including the 900 freq. but I have not looked in a week.

What will be hear on 900 now? Let's check it out.

Walt,

Thanks for the information on CKMO transmitter finally off the air.
Now on 900 kHz KRKT Wenatchee with a Angles vs Mariners baseball game.
Signal is S-9+40 db on the high performance active whip.  154 miles as the crow
flies.
