Barry, I listened to your clip many times... thru many speakers and headsets... 1) It doesn't sound like my local 960 WELI which our household listens to daily... I've been there and our family has been featured on one of their talk programs within the past year. Yes, WKCI is their FM sister by ownership only, and by no means is it them, the two are completely different formats so you can scrap that guessing by some on this list. 2) I am not hearing Newsradio 960 as you mentioned. Instead I'm hearing: 9-60 (Call) 'Talk Radio' and not news radio; 3) I cannot find on a list what I'm hearing.. but it is very likely that any list may not yet be updated. First listen I'm gravitating to WVBR, WBBR, WBVR or any combo with an E. Some possibilites are: WLPR-AL, WFIR-VA, even WAVR//WATS-PA. Of course, if any list may be outdated by call letters, it's even more likely that the formats listed surely have changed even more so. 4) Final, I can't make it out for sure.. but definately rule out WELI (WKCI). Funny, WELI CT is co-owned with WKCI-FM. I've had 11 stations on 960 since CFFX departed. Only new catch is the MD station with Fox Sports; they are the only one on 960 and I had a partial slogan from them. Gotta leave BR this morning, may come back in a few weeks. I swear I heard the Ohio station actually say 970 instead of 960...loud and clear... It doesn't sound like WKCI at all to me WKCI-FM is at 101.3 with a Top 40 Format and WELI-AM is their News Talker on 960 but I don't think it's either one of them. As far as I can tell, the only 960 stations that use the newsradio or news radio slogan are WERC and KZIM, and it certainly doesn't sound like either of those. Perplexing! Less than 24 hours since the demise of CFFX (a semi-local, 88 miles away), and I've already logged two new ones on 960, WKVX in OH and WPRT in KY, plus a tentative WTGM in MD (does anyone else run Fox Sports in the east?). Sad to see a station go silent after so many years, but I won't be mourning its passing all that much! I also have a Newsradio 960 unid...
