The display on my R-8 went completely dead about a year ago. I tried every suggestion offered to no avail. Two or three weeks later I went back to give it another try and found that it was working perfectly and has ever since. I don't recall now whether or not I left it plugged in during the month I didn't use it. Not much help I know. When our power was out from Sunday to Wednesday after our huge storm in December, I did have the R8 hooked up to a 12 volt battery, and I ran the radio off and on during those several days, so mine was not off power all that long. KAZ, Glad you got it fixed. I will remember that one, but I have not had to deal with it on the R8 as yet. The readout has jammed up, but I just unplug it and plug it back in. Something happened to my R8A last night and now the display always says powerloss although I can operate the rx just fine, but, off course it is a huge pain not being able to read what freq I'm tuned to. Does anyone know a way to fix this ? Maybe you turned the clock on it doesn't work. Mine does that. It's the button above and to the right of the tuning knob.
