Re: [IRCA] coastal TAs...

Saudi 1521 is consistently the best TA here in western TN, many nights with
audio and some nights totally dominant over 1520 with 100% audio. Second
best TA here is usually Absolute UK on 1215.

I'm surprised that the western TA reports aren't mentioning the 1521 Saudi.

I heard them in 1986 from El Paso, TX (Residence Inn near airport) on a
 Sony '2010 with then-KOMA 1520 nulled.

1521 starts peeling the paint off the wall this time of year here in MA.
Often the loudest TA and frequently good 2+ hours pre-sunset at beach sites.

2014-08-26 Thread Mike Stonebridge
For once I have to agree with Nigel. 1521 was in here several times many
years ago, but these days I condider myself lucky if I see a carrier. But
then conditions can vary a great deal between here and the southern part of
the province, for example: last night Nigel had TAs across the band whereas
I had one faint lonely carrier on 162.

further carriers on 711 1044 1107 1116 1422 and 1584, beyond the

Re: [IRCA] coastal TAs...1566

2014-08-25 Thread Brandon

Checking 1566 here with the locked NetSDR at 0400 with the SAL-30 due NE:

1565.9951 (no idea)
1565. (surely Benin but very weak, maybe some audio, maybe imaginary)
1566. (no idea)
1566.0001 (no idea)

12 Hz bandwidth at 0.0012 Hz RBW:
http://swldx.us/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/1566-12Hz.png

I've been trying for Benin the past few months but have had nothing more
that a carrier and JBA. Fingers crossed for verifiable audio as the
season progresses :)

No good TA opening here the past two nights :(

Re: [IRCA] coastal TAs...

2014-08-25 Thread Nigel Pimblett
For unknown reasons 1521 has never been a big player here in southern
Alberta. The only time I've heard it was in the glory days of
2009.I've certainly tried many times when I've read about it doing
so well further east, but generally I either hear a very feeble carrier,
or none at all.

carrier, but I probably should ignore the sense of futility and check
more!

What do the Alberta guys say?

best wishes,

Nick

Why not Benin for 1566? Or, for that matter, UK?

I'm surprised that the western TA reports aren't mentioning the 1521
Saudi.

I heard them in 1986 from El Paso, TX (Residence Inn near airport) on
a Sony '2010 with then-KOMA 1520 nulled.

1521 starts peeling the paint off the wall this time of year here in
MA. Often the loudest TA and frequently good 2+ hours pre-sunset at
beach sites.
