Re: [IRCA] 1170 Coast to Coast UnID from USA in Cook Islands
<<< Last September I posted an Excel file of all Coast to Coast AM stations on the ABDX site. You can use filters to search by frequency. The list has KFAQ and WWVA on 1170. >>> Thanks Martin, Your posting of that information is appreciated. Considering that KFAQ was running Coast to Coast at the exact time that I heard it in the Cooks (and that the station has been received occasionally in NZ), the evidence seems pretty convincing. 73, Gary > On April 19, 2018 at 9:22 PM MARTIN FOLTZ <martinfo...@cox.net> wrote: > > > Last September I posted an Excel file of all Coast to Coast AM stations on > the ABDX site. <<< KFAQ carries "Coast to Coast” at 0500-0900 UTC, and their ID slogan is “Talk Radio 1170”. >>> Wow, thanks very much, Richard! At 5,642 miles, KFAQ was the farthest DX received from the USA during the Cook Islands DXpedition. The most distant station overall was 693-Bangladesh in Dhaka, at 7,960 miles. Reception of 1170-KFAQ in the Cook Islands was fun, but probably not as much fun as your reception of 702-2BL and 774-3LO in Oklahoma with your Ultralight and 8" FSL antenna :-) Gary > On April 19, 2018 at 12:53 PM "Richard N. Gary: KFAQ carries "Coast to Coast” at 0500-0900 UTC, and their ID slogan is “Talk Radio 1170”. Very good catch. Richard Allen. Re: [IRCA] 1170 Coast to Coast UnID from USA in Cook Islands
Thanks Todd, KFAQ sounds logical to me if it carries the Coast to Coast program. Oddly enough almost all the USA signals received in the Cook Islands came from California, with the exception of 1160-KSL (which blasted in at an S9+++ level on one night). Since I was DXing in the DU area, maybe these signals should be called UA's (Up Above)?
