In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most
Merciful

Assalamu alaikum warah.

Ibn
al-Haytham

Ibn al-Haytham was one of the greatest
scientists of the world who made remarkable contributions to phusics,
mathematics and astromomy. His Kitab al-manazir wa the first comprehensive book
on optics and light, and a master piece of phusics. He was first to give a
correct desctiption of vision. He improved the planetary model with his theory
of sold spheres against the ancient view of imaginary circle of orbits for
planets, and discovered the laws of reflection and refraction of
light.

Life
Abu Ali al Hasan ibn al-Hasan Ibn al-Haytham was born in
Basrah, Iraq in about 354 AH/965 AD. After completing his education at Basrah,
he worked in a government office. But he was not satisfied with his job and
continued his studeis. He propared a major project to construct three dams and a
reservoir on the increase the agricultural produce by using the stored water
throughout the year, But for some reasons - high cost, uncertainty about the
success - the project was shelved. In our times, the United Nations revived the
project and built the Aswan Dam on the Nile near Cairo at a huge cost. In his
last years, he took residence near the mosque and university of al-Azhar, and
dedicated himself to scientific reaserch, experments and writing. He was a very
pious person and led a very modest life on the meagre earnings he made as a
vopuest of scientific books. He died in Cario in 430 AH/ 1039 AD.

Achievements
Ibn al-Haytham may be rated among the ten greates scientists
of metaphysics, politics, ethics, logic, music, physics, optics, astromomy and
mathematics. Morethan fifty of his books are extant, including Kitab al-manazir,
Maqala fi al-alam and Maqala fi dhaw al-qamar.

He was the first scientist to give a correct
description of vision. He refuted the 700-year- okd greek view that eyes emit
light making the object visible to the eye. He stated that it is the light from
the object which reaches the eye to create the imate of the onject in the eye.
With reference to light, object are self-luminous, illuminated by light
from other objects, opaque, translucent or transparent. He established the
rectilinear propagation of light and the laws of reflection and refraction. He
stated that light takes time to travel; its intensity gers reduced as if
travels; it travels faster in a rarer medium than in a denser one, etc.
Mathematicians since Euclid mathematical achievements of Ibn al-Haytham was the
discovery of a simple substitutefor the complecated Euclidean method - two
straight lines that intersect one anothercannot be parallel to that same line.
Interestingly, this was attributed to the English mathematician Play fair who
came 800 years after Ibn al-Haytham.

[IslamCity] Article: An Overview of Imam W.D. Mohammed and His Work: The Most Important Muslim You've Never Heard of

2005-04-25 Thread Curtis Sharif

As Salaam Alaikum,

This article, written in 2003, gives a candid, balancedand objective overview of Imam W.D. Mohammed, his personal history and his work. As the title of the article suggests, it may enlighten many who may or may not be familar with him and his acheivements and contributions..

Comments: From what I have witnessed since the artilce was written:
1. Tthe community associated with his leadership has not splintered.
2. The size of the community is growing and not declining.
3. The Islamic Affairs Council is not active.

Thanks toG. Waleed Kavalec for bringing this article to my attention.

Peace, Curtis Sharif
Houston, Texas:
...The Most Important Muslim You've Never Heard ofMONIQUE PARSONS(UNDATED) It may have been the most earth-shaking news to hit AmericanMuslims since Sept. 11, 2001, but you wouldn't have known it fromreading the morning paper.Warith Deen Mohammed, spiritual leader of the American Society ofMuslims and perhaps the most influential American orthodox Muslimever, announced over Labor Day weekend in Chicago that he was steppingdown. His action barely registered on the mainstream radar.Yet some 20 per cent of the estimated 3.5 million American Muslims areAfrican American - and most follow W. Deen Mohammed or some otherorthodox teacher. In stepping down, Mohammed implicitly criticized some of the AmericanMuslim leaders for not taking orthodox Islam seriously enough. "I havetried over the last 10 to 12 years to
encourage them to get morereligious education, but I have made no progress," he told the ChicagoTribune. "American Society of Muslim leaders don't support me, but thefollowers do."The favorite son of Nation of Islam leader Elijah Mohammed, W. DeenMohammed rose to power the day after his father's death on Feb. 25,1975. Taking the helm of the NOI - a group that linked Islam withseparatism and racial hatred - he led his flock on a dramatic newjourney toward orthodox Sunni Islam. As Malcolm X had done more than a decade before, Mohammed rejected hisfather's racism, emphasized Islamic ritual observance and gained therespect of Muslim leaders worldwide. And he brought hundreds ofthousands of people with him.David Shaheed, now a criminal court Judge in Indianapolis and a leaderin the American Society of Muslims, was one of countless collegestudents who joined the Nation during this dynamic period. He creditsMohammed
with changing the course of history for all Americans."Instead of having revolution in the streets," Shaheed says, Mohammedled a quiet revolution of his own. "He took the Quran and made bettercitizens for the community."Mohammed focused on education, encouraging his followers to learnArabic and read the Quran for themselves. He emphasized daily prayer, charity and the other basic pillars of the faith. Perhaps mostinspiring for Shaheed, Mohammed found connections between Islamicvalues and American ideals of democracy, equal rights and justice forall.Mohammed didn't stop breaking ground. In 1977, he led what was thenthe largest delegation of American Muslims on the pilgrimage to Mecca. In 1992, he became the first Muslim to deliver the invocation openingthe U.S. Senate. He first met the pope in 1996, and in 1999 headdressed a gathering of 100,000 at the Vatican. He has met withpresidents, the Dalai Lama, and Jewish,
Christian and Muslim religiousand political leaders worldwide. He built a network of schools, business ventures and mosques.Nearly 30 years after his historic move to orthodoxy, it's difficultto imagine the movement without him - the bond is so tight that hisname is embedded in the ASN's mission statement. Supporters say hewill continue to operate independent ministries, including an outreachprogram called The Mosque Cares and a concern that helps AfricanAmerican businesses do collective purchasing.Still, a few voices suggest Mohammed's influence is waning. ImmigrantMuslims and their children are gaining prominence in American society, and other groups have arisen to give voice to so-called "indigenous"Muslims.Aminah Beverly McCloud, an Islamic studies professor at DePaulUniversity in Chicago, notes that the ASM has lost membership inrecent years and predicts the group will splinter without
Mohammed.Mohammed's resignation took most in the ASM by surprise, but it wasn'tthe first time he had resigned to shake up his flock. In themid-1980s, he announced his resignation and disbanded theorganization, urging the mosques to continue their work independentlyand laying out a vision for their future. He returned months later atthe urging of many followers."He has always resisted organizational confines, and I emphasizeconfines," says Ayesha K. Mustafaa, editor of the Muslim Journal, theASM newspaper. "He always had a sense that the organization confinesyou too much. When he came into office he changed the name three orfour times, and at one point he said don't let anyone define you foryou."Frederick Thaufeer al-Deen of Chicago, an imam who broke with the ASMin

[IslamCity] IS MAN CREATED FROM SPERM OR DUST?

2005-04-25 Thread 4ever_in_islam

IS MAN CREATED FROM SPERM OR DUST?

Question: At one place the Qur’an mentions that man is created from sperm and in another place it mentions that man is created from dust. Are these two verses not contradicting? [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Answer:
1. Man created from sperm and dust
The Qur’an refers to the lowly beginnings of a human being from a drop of sperm, in several verses including the following verse from Surah Al-Qiyamah:
"Was he not a drop of sperm emitted (in lowly form)"? [Al-Qur’an 75:37]
The Qur’an also mentions in several places that human beings were created from dust. The following verse makes a reference to the origin of human beings:
"(Consider) that We created you out of dust".[Al-Qur’an 22:5]
We now know that all the elements present in the human body (i.e. the constituent elements of the human body) are all present in the earth in small or great quantities. This is the scientific explanation for the Qur’anic verse that says that man was created from dust.
In certain verses, the Qur’an says that man was created from sperm, while in certain other verses it says that man was created from dust. However this is not a contradiction. Contradiction means statements, which are opposite or conflicting and both cannot be true simultaneously.
2. Man created from water
In certain places the Qur’an also says that man was created from water. For instance in Surah Al-Furqan it says:
"It is He Who has created man from water".[Al-Qur’an 25:54]
Science has proved all the three statements to be correct. Man has been created from sperm, dust as well as water.
3. It is not a Contradiction but a Contradistinction
Suppose I say that in order to make a cup of tea one needs water. One also needs tealeaves or tea powder. The two statements are not contradictory since both water and tealeaves are required in order to make a cup of tea. Furthermore if I want sweet tea I can even add sugar.
Thus there is no contradiction in the Qur’an when it says that man is created from sperm, dust and water. It is not a contradiction but a contradistinction. Contradistinction means speaking about two different concepts on the same subject without conflict. For instance if I say that the man is always truthful and a habitual liar, it is a contradiction, but if I say that a man is always honest, kind and loving, then it is a contradistinction.

[IslamCity] Former model follows spiritual path at Yale

stepping off the runway and converting to Islam, Dawood Yasin becomes
  chaplain, TA and local imam
  BY AMANDA
  RUGGERIStaff
Reporter

Dawood Yasin served as a TA at Yale before he became
the imam at a local mosque. (SOPHIE PERL/ CONTRIBUTING
  PHOTOGRAPHER)
At age 26, Dawood Yasin was almost killed.
Three times.Back then, his name was not Dawood. He was not yet a
teaching assistant in Yale's Arabic Department, the imam of the Masjid
Al-Islam mosque on George Street in New Haven, or the chaplain of the Muslim
  Student's Association of Yale.Instead, he was a nation-hopping male
model, a man whose face and body splashed Paris billboards and Vogue fashion
spreads. His name was David and he was Roman Catholic. But three
near-death experiences in the span of six months changed all that In
1996 he was living in South Africa modeling in photo shoots. One night, he
said, he got into a heated discussion with some South Africans vocalizing
their unhappiness with the end of apartheid. Threats were issued. Tensions
boiled. Then the aggressors pulled out weapons.Luckily, a member of
the group talked them out of a fight. But just a few weeks later, something
else happened. Yasin was driving from Capetown to Johannesburg. At one point
the fog thickened dangerously. The car behind him began to pass him and, at
the same time, a truck approached from ahead. His own car narrowly avoided the
horrific crash that followed. Not long after, he witnessed another
crash -- one he might have been in had he arrived at the scene 30 seconds
earlier. Many 26-year-olds may have brushed off the three incidences as
merely unsettling. Not Yasin."Thinking that you could check out at any
time made me think about spirituality," he said, sitting in Au Bon Pain Oct.
27, a dark beard covering his once-famous face.Because his cousin had
converted to Islam two decades before and become a better person for it, he
said, the religion was already in the back of his mind. So when his brushes
with death made him reconsider spirituality, he had no qualms about taking a
look at the Koran."It worked for me," he said. "I find there to be
justice. In the prophetic tradition, there's no preference of the Arab over
the non-Arab, white over black, black over white."But not everybody
sees that side of Islam. Twice since Sept. 11, 2001, Yasin and his wife,
dressed in traditional Islamic garb, have been almost run off the road, he
said. Once, the driver shouted at them to "go back to your
country.""And my mother, my grandmother, they were born in America,"
he said, shaking his head.Rather than let such ignorance get him down,
though, Yasin said he focuses on raising understanding of Islam. His Arabic
students said he was always very open about his life and religion. They could
ask him delicate questions -- what the Koran says about homosexuality, for
example -- and get a straightforward answer. And because Yasin is
American, students seem more receptive to what he has to say, said Bassam
Frangieh, a professor in the Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations
Department."The students identify with him," Frangieh said. "He has a
very, very beautiful relationship with them." Yasin has even welcomed
his class into his mosque. Last year, 40 Arabic students took a class trip to
George Street during the month of Ramadan. They covered themselves
appropriately, the women in head scarves. As they walked, they stopped
traffic, Frangieh said. After attending services, which included a
sermon by Yasin, the students ate a traditional dinner in his
home.Teaching about Islam and the Koranic tradition is important,
Frangieh said. After all, one requirement of the Near Eastern Languages and
Civilizations major is "Arabic and Islamic Studies."Despite such
glowing reports from students and colleagues, Yasin was not always so focused
on Yale. When he came back to America after studying Arabic for five years,
teaching at Yale was not the job he had in mind, he said.Hardly the
typical teaching assistant, Yasin does not even hold a college degree. He
briefly attended Southern Connecticut State University, but he was discovered
by a Wilhelmina Models agent during one summer break in Nantucket. At 19, his
life turned into a whirlwind of runways in Milan and Paris, photo shoots with
Christy Turlington and Brooke Shields."It's like, 'Wow, do I shoot a
Levi's campaign and make a lot of money, or do I go back to school and get a
degree?'" he said, chuckling. "You think about it for about three breaths."

by
Peace
We’re all alone,
but never alone. We’re all for ourselves, but never are we without another
presence. I shed a tear for what I’ve lost but I know that my days are good.
These are the good days – every single day is a good day.
It was a Friday
morning, everything was normal except that day my baby was to leave me. I had
tried to prepare for the moment, the moment of potential pain. No, I won’t cry.
I’ll be strong. He’ll be okay. I can do this. I tried, I really did. I made my
family breakfast as I would normally. I smiled and I relished everyone’s
company; but my thoughts were with him. Would he be okay? Was he strong enough?
Was I strong enough? What if everything went wrong?
The day drifted
by and it was time to go the hospital. The odds of his survival were slim. This
operation was a complicated one. I held him in my arms as we waited for the
nurse to bring him a hospital gown. I changed his clothes and held his frail
body in my arms as I stroked his head; his father stroking our baby’s
cheek.
Finally, he was
taken into the surgery room. I kissed him, I hugged him, and I prayed. The
family and I all waited, praying with each breath. Two and a half hours later
the doctor arrived. The moment had come. The moment I hoped I had wasted my time
trying to prepare for, the moment of pain.
The tears came,
I couldn’t stop them. I knew he wasn’t suffering anymore, but I needed to cry.
Now, so many months later, I have come to realize my place in this world. Only
this last week did I stop crying, did I stop missing him. I see the good in it.
I feel the good in it. I dream of him sometimes and he’s always smiling as he
did on his hospital bed. He still makes me smile as he forever
will.
Now I no longer
worry about his welfare or about his suffering. Instead, I worry about the use
of my life - the point of my life. If that was me instead of him, would I be
smiling? I’m learning to live each day as my last and I use his memory as a
reminder of my destiny. No words can express my emotions, but my lesson has been
learnt.Don’t take anything for granted. Don’t let anything good go to
waste.
A single tear
has been shed. One tear per lesson. I await more tears because I know I need
them. Now my thoughts have some direction.
I have my
health, but how am I going to use it?

[IslamCity] Imagining Palestine - By KATHLEEN CHRISTISON

2005-04-25 Thread Islahonline

Imagining PalestineBy KATHLEEN CHRISTISONA Palestinian
child died in my arms today. It was a young boy; itwas a girl. It was an
infant; it was a 13-year-old. She had beenshot 20 times by an Israeli
soldier firing U.S.-made bullets; he hadbeen dismembered by a missile fired
from a U.S.-manufactured Israelihelicopter gunship. I am a Palestinian, and
these were my children.I am a Palestinian. I say I am a Palestinian to
express mysolidarity and that of many silent Americans with a suffering
peopleunder Israeli domination. But I must bow my head in shame, for it
ismy government that pays for Israel's oppression of the Palestinians,my
government that is committing ethnocide against the Palestinians,my
government that is killing Palestinian children. I am aPalestinian, and I
reject my American government.I comforted a woman today whose house was
demolished by Israelibulldozers, monsters of destruction made in America. I
helped herpick through the rubble of her home to retrieve her
children'sclothing and toys. I comforted her children, who will have no
toysand no place to sleep tonight. I listened, thunderstruck, as
herhusband wailed aloud, standing in front of the pile of brokenconcrete
that was his home. I will not be able to persuade hischildren that he has
not failed them, not failed to provide theprotection that any father must
give his children. I imagined my ownhome in ruins, my own children bereft,
and I wept. I am aPalestinian, and this woman, this man, these children are
mycountrymen.I stood with a Palestinian farmer today whose
agricultural land hasbeen destroyed by Israelis. He is a middle-aged man
whose oliveorchard, his only means of livelihood, was burned and cut down
byU.S.-subsidized Israeli settler thugs. The farmer is a young manwhose
greenhouses and prime agricultural land, left to him by hisfather and his
grandfather, were leveled by Israeli soldiers drivingU.S.-manufactured
Caterpillar bulldozers, clearing land for aconcrete separation wall meant to
grab prime land for Israel. Thefarmer is an old man who watches daily as
Israelis build new homesin settlements on land that belonged to him until it
was stolen. Iam a Palestinian, and these farmers once fed my
now-impoverishedpeople.I stood in the hot sun at the notorious
Huwara checkpoint south ofNablus with hundreds of Palestinians waiting for
permission to go towork, to school, to medical appointments. I stood in the
drivingrain at the Qalandiya checkpoint between Jerusalem and
Ramallah, waiting with hundreds of others who must pass here every
day, waiting for hours to get to work and then hours more to return
home. There is no sun more searing, no rain more cold and driving than
inPalestine, yet we all stood like automatons, fearful of arousing
theanger of the power-mad teenage Israeli soldiers who control ourlives
and our freedom, fearful that they would shoot us if we showedany evidence
of emotion. In the middle of the night last night, Iconsoled a woman who
gave birth on the ground at a checkpointbecause an Israeli soldier in his
teenage wisdom regarded her as asecurity risk, and later I rode in the
ambulance as she bled and herbaby turned blue and perished. I am a
Palestinian, and I stoicallyendure the peculiar humiliation of these
checkpoints with mycountrymen.I gave solace to a Palestinian
political prisoner today and to hiswife. I am a Palestinian, and this man is
serving time for fightingfor my freedom.I picked a fig from a tree
in my front yard today and ate it. It wasthe most delicious sweetness I had
ever experienced. I believe thisbecause I am a Palestinian, and the fig tree
grows in Palestine.Ordinary words fail. The horrific fate of Palestine
cries out forthe power of poetry. This is no powerful poem, or any poem at
all,but it is a cry from the heart.I care about murdered Israeli
children too, but there are far fewerof them, and my government already
embraces them. I embracePalestinian children because so few others do,
because my governmentcares nothing about them, because my government kills
them.I am a Palestinian. I live the daily lives of Palestinians.

[IslamCity] The Tricks of Shaytaan!

2005-04-25 Thread k_m256

As-Salaamu-Alaikum

The attacks of Shaytaan are clearly to be expected! Allah the Most
High informs us that he is an enemy to us! Shaytan wants nothing
more than our defeat. One of the main tricks of Shaytaan is to take
full advantage of our ignorance!

When discussing the hadiths of the Prophet (saws), this is the area
where Shaytaan works his deceptions in the most subtle of manners!

We hear the statements that send us down the path of pure illogical
speculation and doubt into the waiting arms of Shaytaan!

  The Qur'an is perfect!
  The Hadith is imperfect!
The Qur'an says A! The Hadith says its opposite B!
We reject hadith because it is in opposition to the Qur'an!

 Simple and easy right?

If you fall for the aboveShaytaan has you right where he
wants you!!
Let us look at the first statement of The Qur'an is perfect.

This statement is the absolute truth...however, let us look at
the average, American Muslim!

The average, American Muslim has never read the Qur'an!

Shocked! You should not be! The protected Qur'an is in arabic! The
average american muslim has very little knowledge of arabic
language. Transliteration, translations, or anything else outside of
the actual arabic text is outside of the protected Qur'an!

Let us look at the statement of one of the leading translators of
the Qur'an, Marmaduke Pickthall who stated:

... The Qur'an cannot be translated. ...The book is here rendered
almost literally and every effort has been made to choose befitting
language. But the result is not the Glorious Qur'an, that inimitable
symphony, the very sounds of which move men to tears and ecstasy. It
is only an attempt to present the meaning of the Qur'an-and
peradventure something of the charm in English. It can never take
the place of the Qur'an in Arabic, nor is it meant to do so...
[Marmaduke Pickthall, 1930]

see: http://www.al-sunnah.com/call_to_islam/quran/pickthall/

This is the reality of the Qur'an! It is impossible to translate.
The moment we believe that any translation of the Qur'an is the
actual Qur'anwe have fallen into a trap of shaytaan.

Therefore, to guard against the influence of shaytan...when some
one claims that the Qur'an opposes something that the 'hadith'
supportswe have to ask the one who has proclaimed this.has
he actually read the Qur'an!

Shaytaan knows that the Sunnah of the Prophet (saws) is a
essential element for the salvation of humanity. He knows that Allah
the Most High has stated:

((Whoever has obeyed the Messenger has obeyed Allah)) (4:76)

So Shaytan rushes to pour doubt into the hearts of Muslims by
making them doubt the statments of the Messenger of Allah!

The Qur'an is protected...the hadith is not

The hadith have been prohibited by the Prophet...

   The hadith are unprotected

In order to protect ourselves from the whispers of Shaytaan, we
must turn to Allah the Most High with a recognition of our
limitations. The explanation of things in Islam takes time and
patience. When we hear claims against the hadith, especially in
matters that we do not fully understand, we should seek Allah's
protection and ask the one who proclaims thisDo you read and
understand the protected Qur'an Not the translation, nor the
transliterationbut the actual Qur'an!

If the answer to this question is NO. Then the claims of the one
who is 'protecting us' from hadith should be dismissed automatically!

For what is he using to protect us with except something that
itself is unprotected?

The hadiths of the Prophet (saws) has long been subjected to
attack and villification by many of the unlearned! It is not a
simple topic that can be explored in one post. There are many things
for careful consideration! However, our starting point is truth and
knowledge...rather than fear and ignorance.

If we uphold the clear reality of the Qur'an, the Sunnah, and the
ijma' of the ulemawe will be protected from fear, ignorance, and
the deceptions of shaytaan!

[IslamCity] WARNING ABOUT FREE MUSLIMS

2005-04-25 Thread Engr. Meer Sahib

Dear All: ASA

Recently,a group by the name of "Free
Muslims" sent out messages calling for Muslims to join a march against
"extremists" and "terrorists". Whenever I see strange adjectives like
"Progressive" Muslims, "Secular" Muslims, "Free" Muslimsetc. a red alert
flashes in my mind.

Another red flag wasthe names of the
organizations which were listed as endorsers. A quick
investigationrevealedthat the web sites of some of the endorsers
were filled withanti-Muslim venom. It was also apparent that
someinnocent groups had given their support without due diligence - like
the mothsfalling on the fire.

Before endorsing or supporting any organization, please investigate. To
know who the "Free Muslims" are, please visit the website: http://www.freemuslims.org/. There
is a lot of smearing against Muslims.

Another reader sent me the following

[IslamCity] Oil For Food Scandal Embroils Bush Crime Family

2005-04-25 Thread MA PA

Oil For Food Scandal Embroils Bush Crime Family

By Chris FloydPublished: April 22, 2005
With fresh indictments last week, the UN oil-for-food scandal took an unexpected turn into the Labyrinth -- the tangled skein of war profiteering and state terrorism that has seen the Bush Family's lust for blood money emerge in three of the darkest criminal episodes in modern American history: Iran-Contra, Iraqgate and the BCCI affair.Texas oil baron David Chalmers of Bayoil and his partners were hit with criminal charges for allegedly cutting deals with Saddam Hussein in the notorious skim operation that outflanked UN sanctions and diverted funds intended for humanitarian relief. Prosecutors were shocked -- shocked! -- to find such collusion and corruption in the oil business.Of course, the fact that three U.S. presidents -- the two George Bushes and their new best pal, Bill Clinton -- actually brokered massive backroom oil deals for Saddam that dwarfed Bayoil's petty chiseling, plus the fact that
Saddam's nation-strangling thievery has since been eclipsed by the epic rapine of Bush II's Babylonian Conquest, in no way mitigates the seriousness of the Chalmers indictment. But somehow we doubt you'll be seeing those august statesmen sharing leg irons with old Davy anytime soon.http://mparent.blog-city.com/read/1215607.htm

One cannot possibly purify his heart unless he puts his mind to work, allowing faith and security into his heart. Mind and reason are an essential part of Islamic thought and legislation. One could not exist without the other. What exactly do we refer to when we talk about the mind? There are two kinds of reasoning by the mind that have been identified.
The first is intuitive reasoning that includes: the capacity to comprehend, make rational conclusions, form speech and behave sensibly. The second kind of reasoning is acquired from our environment, such as the things we have been taught or become familiarized with.
The Quran refers to the mind in different ways depending on the nature of the task being dealt with:

1. The mind is able to understand and process speech.
2. The mind is able to project coherent and non-conflicting thoughts.
3. The mind is able to understand proof and evidence of truth.
4. Actions must correspond to words.
5. The mind enables the person to make intelligent choices about what is good for him and what is harmful and should be rejected.
6. People of mind are able to give up immediate, short-lived benefits in favour of eventually gaining more valuable, eternal joy.
7. People of mind are able to learn valuable lessons from the events of life.
8. The mind enables us to learn from the lessons of history.
9. The mind enables us to understand and appreciate the signs of the Creator, while here on earth.
10. Sensible people will know to treat others with respect, particularly in their dealings with the prophets.
The qualities of the mind discussed are fairly indisputable and it is accepted by most people that a person who lacks these qualities will be seen as unreasonable or lacking in various ways. Thus the Quran has reminded us that certain behaviours are inconsistent with an intelligent and sound mind.
We must remember also that there are many verses of the Quran that do not specifically mention the mind; but indicate that thoughtful and reasonable people will be able to follow the way of Allah - making good use of their God-given gift: the mind.

[IslamCity] Terror Label Depends on Target: Italian Judge(http://www.islamonline.net/English/News/2005-04/22/article02.shtml)

Terror Label Depends on Target: Italian
  Judge

Iraq.
  MILAN, April
  22, 2005 (IslamOnline.net News Agencies) – Attacking military or
state targets, even with “suicide bombers”, cannot be considered terrorism
in times of war or occupation, an Italian judge said in the legal
foundations of an earlier ruling, seen likely to deepen a controversy over
  the matter.
  Judge
Clementina Forleo outraged Italian authorities earlier this year by
dropping charges against suspected militants accused of helping to recruit
so-called “suicide bombers” for Iraq -- saying the alleged crimes amounted
to foreign guerrilla activity, which is not illegal in Italy.
  The
reasoning behind her ruling was only released Thursday, April
  21.
  Besides a
lack of evidence linking them to an international terrorism network, alone
enough to clear the defendants, Forleo ruled the alleged crimes could not
be considered “terrorist” under conventional international
  doctrine.
  “The
dividing line between guerrilla activity and terrorism is drawn almost
unanimously from international doctrine,” she wrote in the 69-page
  document, according to Reuters.
  “The
differentiating factor ... does not appear to be the instrument used (to
attack), but the target in one’s sights,” she said, adding that
“terrorists” attack indiscriminately instead of distinguishing between
  civilian and military targets.
  Foreign
guerrilla activity, not a crime in an Italian court, instead targets “a
foreign occupying army or against a state structure held by the combatants
  as illegitimate.”
  She also
warned that defining “every violent act” by irregular forces as terrorist
risked “comprising people's right to self-determination and
  independence”.
  Her January
ruling was seen as a legal defeat for the Italian government which has
sent more than 3,000 troops to Iraq and has tried, in coordination with
the United States, to step up anti-terrorism policing at home.
  Italian
Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi had earlier said his country would
withdraw its forces from Iraq, but later retracted his statements
  reportedly under pressures from Washington.
  Disciplinary
  Investigation

A file photo of Israeli soldiers
in occupied Palestinian
  areas.
  Forleo’s
reasoning has drawn fury among Italian officials, especially as Rome is a
key ally of the United States which launched the offensive and leads the
  occupation of Iraq.
  Earlier this
year, Reforms Minister Roberto Calderoli called Forleo’s decision “stomach
turning” and Communications Minister Maurizio Gasparri said she was
  “extremely wrong”.
  The judge is
  suing them for defamation.
  Justice
Minister Roberto Castelli opened a disciplinary investigation into Forleo
  for possible negligence.
  The
Dublin-based International Association of Muslim Scholars (IAMS) has ruled
that resisting occupation troops in Iraq was a “duty” on able Muslims
in and outside the country and that aiding the occupier was
  impermissible.
  On the
indiscriminate attacks that claim the lives of innocent civilians, the
IAMS asked resistance fighters not to target women, children and the
elderly even if they were of the occupiers’ nationalities.
  Also, a
cohort of prominent Saudi scholars have further defended
resistance against the occupation forces in Iraq as a
legitimate right, prohibiting cooperation with the occupiers and
  collaboration against resistance groups.
  Forleo’s
ruling legally means that attacks by resistance fighters anywhere against
military targets in occupied areas are not acts of terrorism, regardless
of the means they use to do so. That sure applies to both Israeli and US
occupations of Palestine and Iraq respectively.

  Aayat
  115-118

  by Ayub
  A. Hamid

  __

  When worshipping
Allaah (subhaanahu wa ta`aalaa), people have to face a direction and
places of worship are to be built facing that direction. The need for a
direction to face is a human need which does not mean that Allaah is only
in that direction. He, being infinite, is in every direction but to
fulfill that human need, He designates a direction for people to face
while worshipping Him. In facing that direction the key is the obedience
to the Lord Who can command us face any direction He wants and change it
whenever He wants. Those who do not understand this spirit of obedience
exaggerate the rule of facing in a particular direction making it an end
in itself, instead of focusing on the spirit of obedience. They treat all
physical religious symbols and rules the same way making them the objects
instead of the religious objectives that they are designed to achieve.
Consequently, they fight over, argue with others and destroy each other’s
places of worship even on issues such as the direction for worship or
other rules of religion. The Jews and Christian both have fought over
petty issues of symbolism and exaggerated in terms of the significance of
certain symbols, words, rules and personalities. In fact all their
religion constitutes is an exaggeration in these matters. They have
totally lost the objectives for which Islam was sent. Keeping that
mentality in mind, the next verse introduces this topic in terms of
Allaah’s infinite boundlessness. This topic will be discussed in detail
subsequently from the perspective of the change of direction Allaah
  commanded Muslims to make.

115 The East and the West are
  Allaah’s, therefore, whichever way you turn, Allaah will be in front;
  verily Allaah is Boundless, Knowing.

The tendency to exaggerate in terms
of rules about physical symbols and places was prominent among the Jews,
the next one -- the tendency to exaggerate about words and persons – is
  prominent in Christians.

116 And they say: Allaah has begotten a son. His glory supersedes
such notions of finiteness. Rather, He owns everything and everyone in
heavens and earth; all are submissively obedient to Him. 117 Wonderful Originator of the heavens
and the earth! When He decrees an affair, He only says to it, Be, and it
  occurs.

People adopt Shirk only because of
their wrong perception about Allaah. Instead understanding the infinite,
eternal and absolute nature of Allaah’s attributes, they attach some
finiteness, limit or imperfection to one or more of His attributes. That
perception of finiteness leads them to equating others with Allaah, or in
other words, committing Shirk. That is why wherever such a notion is
mentioned in the Qur-aan, it is refuted and people are immediately
reminded of the infiniteness of Allaah by the words, “Subhaanahu”; which
means the His infinite glory is above, beyond, surpassing and transcending
any notion of finiteness, limits, or weakness of any kind. Any people who
started ascribing sons or daughter to Allaah have done so for their wrong
views about Allaah. As those topics appear in the various verses, those
notions will be elaborated. Here, Allaah SWT has refuted their claim with
two facts: firstly, He owns everyone and everything in the universe
because everything and everyone is His creation. Creation is not like
begetting. He creates, does not beget. Secondly, His ways of creation are
beyond human imagination. He does not need to work like human beings to
make things happen. When he intends that something should happen, the
things fall in place and it just happens. He created this whole universe
out of nothing in the same way.

As polytheists and atheists are concerned, they rely too much
on their own physical experiences, not letting their minds think
logically, reflect on signs and draw rational conclusions.

  118 And those
who have no knowledge of the Book say: Why does not Allaah speak to us or
a sign come to us? Even those before them talked in the same manner; their
attitudes are all alike. We have Indeed

[IslamCity] Indian Prostitute knocks out Sami Ul Haq

Subject: Indian Prostitute knocks out Sami Ul Haq

What Muslims in general and Pakistanis in particular do not understand is just
how powerful Hindus have become in their onslaught against Muslims and
Pakistanis every day. As a doctor I am a daily witness and victim of
persecution by the Hindus in the UK every day.
What recently happened with the Pakistani parliamentary delegation which was
about to meet members of the European Parliament yesterday. the meeting was
cancelled at the last moment by the South Asian Sub-committee of the European
Parliament because Maulana Samiul Haq was a part of it. Personally I am not a
great fan of Maulana Samiul Haq, but the point is that he is an elected MP in
Pakistan and moreover the Europeans knew well in advance that the Maulana would
be part of the delegation.

It turns out that the person behind the sudden cancellation is a Hindu
Prostitute called Neena Gill, MEP who talks and stinks like a sodomised whore.
Moreover, she has been elected by the largely muslim constutuency of West
Midlands in the UK where British Muslims are constantly indulging in the
argument whether or not it is Islamic to vote in British elections . The
result is in front of us.
A low-life Hindu whore who is sitting on a seat in the European Parliament
where a Muslim should be sitting instead of her representing the heart of
England has insulted Pakistan at very short notice and by in utter breach of
diplomatic protocols. If a British Muslim had done it , disciplinary action
would have been taken by the British government but because a Hindu whore has
done it, the British government is relaxing and enjoying.

What angers me is that Neena Gill MEP publicly fornicated with the murderer
Narendar Modi when he came to the UK in 2003 to celebrate his recent holocaust
of 4000 Muslims in Gujrat and then the Hindu prostitute did not think of human
rights or democracy in any way

But sadly what angers me even more is that British Muslims in general and
British Pakistanis in particular have no political sense or direction, let
alone the will to humiliate this hindu prostitute who has no right to represent
Birmingham, Coventry or Wolverhampton.

The Pakistani Foreign Office has been protesting again and again but the
British government does not bother to listen.
I would urge British Muslims to rise up and protest against the actions of this
Modi-molested low life MEP called Neena Gill.

China 'crushing Muslim Uighurs'

The crackdown is done in the name of counter-terrorism, the report says

China has been accused by two US-based human rights groups of conducting a
crushing campaign of religious repression against Muslim Uighurs.
It is being done in the name of anti-separatism and counter-terrorism, says a
joint report by Human Rights Watch and Human Rights in China.
It is said to be taking place in the western Xinjiang region, where more than
half the population is Uighur.
China has denied that it suppresses Islam in Xinjiang.
It says it only wants to stop the forces of separatism, terrorism and religious
extremism in the region, which Uighur separatists call East Turkestan.
Detentions and executions
The report accuses China of opportunistically using the post-September 11
environment to make the outrageous claim that individuals disseminating
peaceful religious and cultural messages in Xinjiang are terrorists who have
simply changed tactics.
CHINA'S UIGHURS

Ethnically Turkic Muslims, mainly in Xinjiang
Made bid for independent state in 1940s
Sporadic violence in Xinjiang since 1991
Uighurs worried about Chinese immigration and erosion of traditional culture

The authors of the report say it is based on previously disclosed Communist
Party and Chinese government documents, local regulations, press reports and
local interviews.
The report says the systematic repression of religion in Xinjiang was
continuing as a matter of considered state policy.
Such repression ranges from vetting imams and closing mosques to executions and
the detention of thousands of people every year, it claims.
Religious regulation in Xinjiang is so pervasive that it creates a legal net
that can catch just about anyone the authorities want to target, said Sharon
Hom, Executive Director of Human Rights in China.
Uighurs make up about eight million of the 19 million people in Xinjiang.

Re: [IslamCity] WHY do we wear Hijab (Veil)???????

2005-04-25 Thread Dr. Reffai

Sisters:Andrea Peterson/Nada Hisham,

A am educated too by Nada's explanation, but as to why? hijab
the letter does not. I am a student of Islam though in my fiftees! Let me humbly
expalin why :

-Rassool had said that there are two limbs in your body , when
safe guarded, will lead you to paradise. They are 1) The tongue and 2) the
Sexual organ. It needs to be understood that man is created with the libido(
When a sahabah asked Rasool again that he felt he was in a celestial abode when
in the mosque, but when he returned home, his heart ti sdrawn to worldly
pleasures.Rasool replied that life on earth is like that... the heart sways) so
when one does not look at a desirable woman ie she is covered, his libido does
not become active. He therefore saves himself from desire. Which in turn helps
him to control his senses, which is not permitted outside the prescribed way.
Such a mumin enters paradise, because all his acts are in fulfillment of the wish
of his creator.
Alhamdulillah.
I hope the above helps the reader understand very
well(through his/her reason) WHY hijab?

THE QUESTION OF HIJAB: SUPPRESSION OR
LIBERATION"Why
do Muslim women have to cover their heads?" This question is one which is
asked by Muslim and non-Muslim alike. For many women it is the truest test
of being a Muslim.
The answer to the question is very simple - Muslim women observe
HIJAB (covering the head and the body) because Allah (in English: "The
God")has told them to do so.
"O Prophet, tell your wives and daughters and the believing women
to draw their outer garments around them when they go out or are among men.
That is better in order that they may be known (to be believers) and not
annoyed..." (Qur'an 33:59)
"And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze
and guard their modesty; and that they should not display their beauty and
ornaments except what must ordinarily appear thereof; that they should draw
their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their
husbands..." (Qur'an 24:30-31)
Other secondary reasons include the requirement for modesty in
both men and women. Both will then be evaluated for intelligence and skills
instead of looks and sexuality. An Iranian school girl is quoted as saying,
"We want to stop men from treating us like sex objects, as they have always
done. We want them to ignore our appearance and to be attentive to our
personalities and mind. We want them to take us seriously and treat us as
equals and not just chase us around for our bodies and physical looks."

A Muslim woman who covers her head is making a statement about
her identity. Anyone who sees her will know that she is a Muslim and has a
good moral character. Many Muslim women who cover are filled with dignity
and self esteem; they are pleased to be identified as a Muslim woman. As a
chaste, modest, pure woman, she does not want her sexuality to enter into
interactions with men in the smallest degree. A woman who covers herself is
concealing her sexuality but allowing her femininity to be brought out.

The question of hijab for Muslim women has been a controversy for
centuries and will probably continue for many more. Some learned people do
not consider the subject open to discussion and consider that covering the
face is required, as a woman's face also shows much of her beauty that
should only be shown to her husband or direct family members, while a
majority are of the opinion that it is not required. A middle line position
is taken by some who claim that the instructions are vague and open to
individual discretion depending on the situation. The wives of the Prophet
(S) were required to cover their faces so that men would not think of them
in sexual terms since they were the "Mothers of the Believers," but this
requirement was not extended to other women.
The word "hijab" comes from the Arabic word "hajaba" meaning to
hide from view or conceal. In the present time, the context of hijab is the
modest covering of a Muslim woman. The question now is what is the extent of
the covering?
The Qur'an says: "Say to the believing man that they should lower
their gaze and guard their modesty; that will make for greater purity for
them; and Allah is well acquainted with all that they do.
"And say

hijab is not that nuns wear or not that only covering hairs and body
hijab is covering everything including face thats real hijab else what nuns wear is nothing to do with hijab, Its must for every muslims ladies to do hijab even they stay in islamic country or non islamic country if any one say this is modern age and we cannot do then they will have to answer infront of Allah on the day of judgement, here in this world we can do as we like Allah has given us the will for accepting good or bad or right or wrong way, and we will get the reward or punishment according to the things we do right or wrong, no other person will pay for it.

An Iranian school girl is quoted as saying, "We want to stop men from treating us like sex objects, as they have always done. We want them to ignore our appearance and to be attentive to our personalities and mind. We want them to take us seriously and treat us as equals and not just chase us around for our bodies and physical looks."
A Muslim woman who covers her head is making a statement about her identity. Anyone who sees her will know that she is a Muslim and has a good moral character. Many Muslim women who cover are filled with dignity and self esteem; they are pleased to be identified as a Muslim woman. As a chaste, modest, pure woman, she does not want her sexuality to enter into interactions with men in the smallest degree. A woman who covers herself is concealing her sexuality but allowing her femininity to be brought out.
The question of hijab for Muslim women has been a controversy for centuries and will probably continue for many more. Some learned people do not consider the subject open to discussion and consider that covering the face is required, as a woman's face also shows much of her beauty that should only be shown to her husband or direct family members, while a majority are of the opinion that it is not required. A middle line position is taken by some who claim that the instructions are vague and open to individual discretion depending on the situation. The wives of the Prophet (S) were required to cover their faces so that men would not think of them in sexual terms since they were the "Mothers of the Believers," but this requirement was not extended to other women.
The word "hijab" comes from the Arabic word "hajaba" meaning to hide from view or conceal. In the present time, the context of hijab is the modest covering of a Muslim woman. The question now is what is the extent of the covering?
The Qur'an says: "Say to the believing man that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that will make for greater purity for them; and Allah is well acquainted with all that they do.
"And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; and that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what must ordinarily appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands..." (Qur'an 24:30-31)
These verses from the Qur'an contain two main injunctions: (1) A woman should not show her beauty or adornments except what appears by uncontrolled factors such as the wind blowing her clothes, and (2) the head covers should be drawn so as to cover the hair, the neck and the bosom.
Islam has no fixed standard as to the style of dress or type of clothing that Muslims must wear. However, some requirements must be met. The first of these requirements is the parts of the body which must be

  ACUMLYF Condemns
Threats Against the Al Aqsa Mosque

  The All Ceylon Union of
Muslim League Youth Fronts [ACUMLYF] strongly condemns
the growing threats by extremist Zionist groups against the Al Aqsa
  Mosque.
  Since the start of
its illegal occupation of Jerusalem, Zionist Israel has
sought to change the religious composition and demographic character of
the city in contravention of United Nations Security Council Resolution
  267.

  In August 1969 they
set fire to the mosque and caused extensive damage. In recent months, Jewish extremists have
intensified their threats against the compound, which houses the Dome of
the Rock [Omar Mosque] and Al Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site in
  Islam.

The Al Aqsa Mosque is not only important to
Palestinians, but is revered by the Muslims everywhere.

Recently, a private Israeli television station
screened a video showing far right-Jewish extremists, including rabbis,
discussing ways of occupying the site in a bid to sabotage
  Israel's planned withdrawal from
  Gaza.

While the world awaits the final phase of the
Middle East Roadmap and settlement to begin, Israeli hard-line groups are
evidently trying to derail peace process by provoking Palestinians to
  defend themselves.
Hence we urge the Government of Sri Lanka,
as a government that supports a Ceasefire Agreement and pursues the path
of a negotiated settlement to the internal conflict, to issue an immediate
notice warning the Israeli authorities of the consequences of any sabotage
or harm to the Al Aqsa Mosque, which may derail the sensitive Roadmap and
affect the stability in the Middle East.

[IslamCity] War, Tsunamis and God

War, Tsunamis and God : The Philosophy of Our Times
By Ramzy Baroud Columnist – Qatar January 06, 2005

The swaths of South East Asia worst hit by the tsunami on December 26 and subsequent days have long been analogous with everything cheap: cheap laborers, cheap raw materials, cheap tourist destinations, and yes, much cheaper life. The whole episode was utterly horrific. But what was it exactly that most of us found so horrifying as we watched people being swept away by the murky waters? Was it the lost lives that were washed away in a flash? Was it the innate fear that often accompanies natural disasters wherever they strike? Or was it the unstated guilt that our privilege necessitated their servitude and misery in
 this life?
What I found inexcusable however, was much of the media’s narrative - our visionaries, commentators and thought-provokers - in response to the unprecedented tragedy in Asia. In Western media, priorities were stacked based on the value of racial importance. Thus, the obvious concern was over the safety of the European, Australian and North American tourists. Once that was settled and everyone was accounted for, the Asian multitudes, 126,000 of which have been confirmed dead since the drafting of these words, turns into a statistical issue, with futile and untimely philosophical questions being raised, and affording
politicians an opportunity to show off their kinder, gentler side. Hogwash.
Martin Kettle of the British Guardian found it most suitable to ask “Are we too cowed now to even ask if the God can exist that can do such things?” while striking a comparison between the courage of 18th century intellectuals – Voltaire, Kant and the like – and today’s obviously spineless logicians. While many writers around the world had no suggestion on how to help the estimated five million people roaming the havoc-struck towns of Indonesia, Sri
Lanka, Thailand, the Maldives, and others, seeking food and shelter, they had plenty of blame to pin on God, demanding answers for nature’s catastrophes.
Every number associated with the earthquake and Tsunami and their aftermath was distressingly high. The wounded have been estimated to be at least four times as many as the dead. World Health Organization Director Lee Jong Wook spoke of hundreds of thousands of people sustaining serious injuries. Health officials warned of numerous diseases caused by exposed and floating bodies and contaminated water; dysentery, cholera, typhoid, malaria, and dengue fever are only a few.
But the most disturbing figures by far were the dismal pledges of aid to the inhabitants of the disaster areas. Finally emerging from his Texas vacation after days of silence, President Bush promised a paltry aid package of $15 million, which was later upgraded to $35 million, and then to “10 fold as much as the earlier aid contribution,” an astounding $350 million. Regardless of whether the aid reaches the most deserving or not, or whether there is a political price tag to pay, I think it’s rather interesting to indulge in a few more statistics.

According to the National Priority Project and based on official estimates, the US government’s war in Iraq has thus far cost a whopping $147,611,513,432. That’s nearly $148 billion. The war was unnecessary by all accounts, save those of President Bush
and his henchmen-intellectuals. According to NPP, the cost of the war could have housed 1,329,102 families in the United States alone, or could have fully funded worldwide AIDS programs for 14 years. Instead, the money was funneled into the war machine, the Pentagon, defense institutions, and various companies and contractors, to subsidize a catastrophic war which has claimed the lives of over 100,000 Iraqis, and well over 1,000 American soldiers.
The United State’s final aid contribution to the tsunami victims would hardly sustain the Iraq war for more than 36 hours, with daily spending
estimated at $270 million. In fact, the cost of one F-22 Raptor fighter jet is around $225 million, well over half of the aid offered to the millions of victims of the disaster in Asia.
For many, pinning the blame on God is the best possible scenario, for it absolves us of what should’ve been an obligation toward fellow humans. It’s rather a charity, a donation, and a matter of choice. But how much of a choice do we have when our tax money is used to finance the dropping of napalm on sleeping families in Basra, or to “aid” Israel’s most ingenious endeavor to fence off Palestinians in an open-air prison in the West Bank? Wouldn’t most Americans rather contribute a meager half million dollars from the Pentagon’s $1.5 billion-a-day budget to purchase two early warning systems – tsunami meters – to be placed in the Indian
Ocean, which could’ve possibly saved thousands of lives? According to the US-based International Action Center’s estimates, “for what the US is spending for less

"This philosophy was epitomised by Colin Powell, the former US secretary of state, in his dramatic address on Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction programme to the UN Security Council on 5 February 2003, five weeks before the invasion. He articulated, “every statement I make today is backed up by sources, solid sources” He continued about a “sinister nexus between Iraq and the al-Qaida terrorist network” - a series of meaningless, vacuous and ridiculous words. Colin Powell made reference to the “ricin ring”, a citation used to support the assertion that Saddam and Osama were supporting terrorist cells in Europe. This was the incident in which there was said to be traces of ricin, a deadly poison for which there is no antidote, found in a north London flat, which was occupied by Muslim men of North African origin. Although subsequent tests by Porton Down laboratories (historically the world experts in biological warfare) found no trace of ricin on any of

Poison plot without any poison Popular music is filled with poor quality prose of no literary or poetic value. A typical popular song comprises of a series of meaningless, vacuous and ridiculous lyrics strung together in an incoherent fashion. What makes a song popular is the way it is sung. If the delivery has style, passion and feeling the western populace overlook its inconsequentiality. This gloss masks the pernicious issues underlying this form of artistic _expression_. There are many analogies to be drawn here with Western politics. This style over substance approach aids the dissemination of dangerous and erroneous concepts. They believe that if you argue an issue with a skilful and passionate delivery the public will buy it. This philosophy was epitomised by Colin Powell, the former US secretary of state, in his dramatic
address on Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction programme to the UN Security Council on 5 February 2003, five weeks before the invasion. Although subsequent tests by Porton Down laboratories (historically the world experts in biological warfare) found no trace of ricin on any of the equipment found in the flat, this did not stop the whole affair being used by the crusaders to gather support from the
subjects that they tyrannise, in the US and UK. On 13 April 2005 a London jury refuted yet another section of the case Colin Powell made for war with Iraq. The recent British court verdicts on five defendants, and the dropping of charges against four others, make clear there was no ricin ring. The “ricin ring” did not make any ricin, the “ricin ring” did not have any ricin, and the “ricin ring” was not actually a ring. Colin Powell constructed a convoluted quasi-logical argument associating this “UK poison cell” (that had no poison) with training camps in Afghanistan. The basis of this discussion was that training camps in Afghanistan were the origin of the information on poisons and chemicals that were allegedly in the possession of the accused. This information covered five pages in Arabic, containing amateur instructions for making ricin, cyanide and botulinum. As well as a list of chemicals used in explosives. These scribblings were the mainstay of the court
case. Kamel Bourgass, the sole convicted defendant, had made these notes. His co-defendants believed that he had copied the information from the internet. The prosecution claimed it had come from Afghanistan. It turns out that the recipes and instructions were untested and unoriginal, taken from US sources. Ricin is not and cannot be used as a toxic agent of mass destruction. It has only ever been used for one-on-one killings and attempted killings. It is ineffective as a toxin if placed on car door handles, which was the supposed method of delivery, unless the car victim opens the doors of hundreds of cars with his or her tongue. For ricin to work effectively it must penetrate the skin. Therefore used as a means to wreak terror on London, it would be impotent. It is apparently true that when the team from Porton Down entered the North London flat in January 2003 their field equipment registered

  Nothing is more
dangerous than taking enemies for friends out of utter ignorance.
That is exactly what is happening in the non-Muslim world due to
the fear and lies about Muslims and Islam spread by a sinister alliance of
the neo-cons of the West and no-mods of Islam — an army of opportunists
under different banners from "moderate" to "liberal" and "progressive"
Islam. In the end, non-Muslims will remember not the "enemies"
portrayed on the cover pages of the Times, [1]
but the real enemies who push them from confusion
into clash and from clash into unnecessary wars and ultimate fall of the
  much vaunted global order.
  The enemy of the
non-Muslim world is not Islam as it is now being officially recognized in
the political (the 9/11 Commission´s report) and religious circles (the
sign outside a church reading: you must remember Islam is the enemy).
The enemy of the non-Muslim world are not Muslims fighting
physically and intellectually to bring an end to the direct and indirect
occupations of their homelands. The real Muslim-enemies of the
non-Muslim world are those Muslims who are close friends of the real
culprits behind 9/11: the war criminals involved in the continued carnage
around the Muslim world. Together they are a gang that has shaped the
mindset that sees enemy in nothing but Islam. [2]
The interest of the Muslim-enemies lies in success of the
totalitarians in Washington and other capitals. Their benighted
opportunism, however, makes them extremely dangerous. As effective tools
in the hands of the real culprits behind 9/11, [3]
they are unwittingly undermining theinterest of both the East and
the West. Muslims-enemies of the non-Muslim world are not the
masked gunmen in Iraq, but those wearingthe “civilized” face masks
with banner from “moderates” to “liberal” and “progressive Muslims” — the
neo-mods of Islam. Understanding how the neo-mods of Islam are
undermining the Western world under the auspices of the neo-cons is as
much interesting as it is important to reverse this destructive
  trend.
  It must go without
saying that those who planned destruction of the WTC and forged a
passenger plane´s attack on Pentagon are not friends of the United States
and its allies at all because for them destroying American property and
killing innocent people is of no concern as long as these criminal acts
could serve their criminal objective. Sacrificing WTC and 3000
people therein is just like the US customs and DEA agents brining in drugs
  from Colombia; selling it in the US street to their fellow countrymen;
keeping the proceeds in American banks and then finally transferring these
funds to BCCI (Bank of Credit and Commerce International) to facilitate
  its closure in 1988. [4]
These criminal acts, the subsequent occupations and the continuing
carnage did not occur is a vacuum. These criminal acts and the subsequent
political and military adventures needed years of ground work to prepare a
mindset that would instantly accept Muslims and Islam as the enemies and
would feel comfortable with all kinds of psychological degradation and
physical annihilation of the alleged enemy. The most important
task of preparing such a depraved mindset has been undertaken by the
“intellectual” alliance of likeminded warlords, such as Huntington,
Bernard Lewis, Pipes, Perle, Friedman, Frum and others. Their work has
been the real inspiration for the culprits behind 9/11 and their
subsequent barbarism in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is not difficult
to see the whole range of enemies once it is established as to
whothe real culprits behind 9/11 are, because by simple logic the
friends of the enemies are also enemies. It is not difficult to
understand that the WTCs were not destroyed to bring a revolution in the
US for some unimaginable levels of progress and prosperity. The only
motive was to make the US invade and occupy the perceived “enemy lands,”
to promote a “war within” its perceived enemies and to impose a “way of
life” which the perpetrators of these crimes deem appropriate for the
whole world. The real culprits behind 9/11 were most probably
technicians, military experts, political figures and some strategic
planners. Nevertheless, it were the opinion makers who brought the
real culprits to this state of mind and continue tohide their
crimes. The real friends of these opinion makers are the neo-mods of Islam
who are being exploited to achieve the same

The day is etched in my memory as an
indelible mark. 7O clock in the morning. My 8-month-old demon was
inconsolable after keeping us awake the larger part of the night. My maasi
hadnt been turning up since two days. Laundry was piled high; no more
clean nappies to use. At the college, the first day of the degree session.
Above all this, the constant angry screaming. As my son threw up on the
bed sheets, I gave up. With the little nightmare squirming in my arms I
called up my boss to inform her that I will not be showing up for the day.
She blew up on me, reprimanding me on my inefficency and slackness. I
banged the phone on her. As if that wasnt enough, my husband came in to
say his byes for the day. His shining morning face, starched white shirt
and more so the fact that he could afford to leave this mess behind,
filled me up to my throat with resentment. Heaven under my feet. Fat lot
of good thatll do to me now. When Shakespeare said there was
method in this madness he must be mad! There was no method in this
madness. But the time the great bard spoke of the sea-change he was
right. My life did suffer a sea change. With Rayan my first born (and
only, I silently swear) born. This was my day. These were my
thoughts. As a working mother the tedium of my life has increased hundred
folds. Before Rayan was born, my days were perfect, my nights werewell,
nights full of sleep. My life was made more miserable because I
happen to be a person you may call a perfectionist: I do things my way. I
break down if I see a speck of dust on the sideboard. I freak out when I
see a magazine lying on the sofa (magazines should be on the rack always).
I get up in the middle of the night to straighten a cushion I forgot about
during the day. For my Maasi I am a terror. But hey, all that is a
thing of the past. As I look around to decide where to begin, first things
first; gritting my teeth to put my terror to sleep, I grab him in my arms
and lo and behold! Something in me melts. His bright black eyes lure me to
love him. O what a wily creature a child is! Even if he takes a good hour
and a half to finally let the lids fall on those black pools of
enticement. Staring at him in disbelief as he sleeps sweetly in his cot
waves of relief pass over meIs this the face that launched a thousand
ships and burnt the topless towers of Ileum? Marlowe whispers tome from
Dr. Faustus. How far away it sounds! Art, Literature, painting, musicall
pursuits of free time gone out of the window!Since Rayan invaded
my life, he became a cruel conqueror, destroying my privacy, defeating me
with his charming ways.Who says children are helpless? It is us
mothers who are helpless against them. They are a relentless lot loving
you and maddening you at the same time.Look at me; never was there
a more willing, more ecstatic a captive than me. I go weak at the knees
when he smiles at me. I actually understood the idiom music to my ears
when he gurgled at me. I am nuts over him.And yet at least five
times a day I have to curb the urge of running away from it all and hiding
under the bed for the rest of my life. Or at least hibernating until he
grows up!He is both an angel and a devil. But what am I? A
lunatic, a paradox or simply a working mother. Believe me Ive never been
the one thats a child doter, definitely not a baby person. And yet when
Rayan was born I could neither understand not handle my new feelings for
him. Even now I am not one of those mothers who dont forgive people for
not gushing over their children. I have never gushed over anybodys! Still
great tides of pride wash over me whenever somebody exclaims what a
beautiful boy! Its so embarrassing this motherhood. Umm you know what I
mean; one feels quite unbearably like a show off.My husband thinks
my tastes have deteriorated. I enjoy cartoons, my vocab. is full of baby
talk, I am a compulsive nursery rhyme singer and my adult conversation
revolves around nappy changes and weaning foods. Even shopping means
jumping in and out of baby shops. The saving grace is that despite all
this he thinks Ive become more beautiful after Rayan. Now thats where I
respect his views.Frankly, no self-respecting individual should
let this happen to her. This maternal instinct destroys her personality. I
used to detest mothers and housewives who couldnt stop talking about how
angelic their children and how devilish their husbands were.

West. Will Jewish leaders view this as a provocation and call for
Ukraine to be punished, or will their hate of Russia allow them to ignore
displays of Ukrainian nationalism for the moment.

Re: [IslamCity] Muslim women step into whole new aquatic world

2005-04-25 Thread F. Saad

Assalamu alaikum,

I never said that the awrah of a woman is from the naval to the knee.
I said that the awrah of a woman infront of other women is from the awrah to the knee, but it is not the acceptable way of dressing. This awrah is such because of the excuse of breastfeeding that could be a hardship for a woman.
I supported the view with a hadith, in which the sheikh mentions the misconceptions that people make from this hadith.
The hadith below clearly states that the awrah of women infront of each other is from the naval to the knee. He did not say it is sufficient for her to cover from naval to the knee. He meant that a woman is not allowed to look at the awrah of another woman which is from the naval to the knee.
As for the awrah of a woman in public, then I am of the opnion that all the woman is awrah including her face, hands and feet.
This is because the hadith, "The woman is awrah" did not exclude anything from that definition.

I cover from head to toe. Infront of other women, I wear modest clothes. But with breastfeeding [in a woman's gathering], I know women who try very hard to cover up, but many many times, as with all women I know the child themselves pull at the garments, and so forth.
Whatever is seen thereof is not haram, since there is a clear concession on that.

With regards to the doubts that some women have, concerning the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), “Let no woman look at the ‘awrah of another woman and let no man look at the ‘awrah of another man; the ‘awrah of a woman in front of another woman is from the navel to the knee”, which they interpret as indicating that women may wear short clothes – the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did not say that it is sufficient for women’s clothing to cover the area from the navel to the knee, so this cannot be used as evidence. What he did say was
that no woman should look at the ‘awrah of another woman, so he forbade them to look, because the ‘awrah of the woman who is wearing loose clothing may sometimes be exposed when answering the call of nature or for some other reason, so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbade women to look at one another’s ‘awrahs.__Do You Yahoo!?Tired of spam? [IslamCity] Fwd: - Don't Be Sad - Have We Not Opened Your Breast For You [O’ Muhammad]?

2005-04-25 Thread Souladvisor

Daily Reminder [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

Assalaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu, I pray that this reaches you in the best of health and Eeman. “Have we not opened your breast for you [O’ Muhammad]?” Surah Ash-Sharh – Ayah 1. These were the words that descended upon the Prophet Sallalahu Alayhi Wasalam and they became manifest in his character; his mind was at ease and he was in high spirits; he was optimistic and easy going in his affairs. He was close to the hearts of the people in a venerable way: though he was close to the people and was always smiling, there was always with him a sense of dignity and honour. In terms of character, his was complete and unparalleled. Showing ample modesty, he would play with children and would openly welcome the visitor. Because he remained happy with Allah’s favours and blessings, hopelessness and failure were concepts that were absolutely foreign to him. Instead he favoured optimism of the propitious kind. Hateful to him were ostentation,
affectedness, and extravagance. It can easily be said that the Prophet Sallalahu Alayhi Wasalam was the epitome of all of the above mentioned characteristics. He was noble in the true sense of the word because he was the conveyer of a true message, the proprietor of honourable principles, the example and teacher for an entire nation, the man of family and society, and the bearer of many virtues. He was, in short, someone who was guided to all that is good. “... he releases them from their heavy burdens [of Allah’s covenant], and from the fetters [bindings] that were upon them.” Surah Al-Ar’af – Ayah 157. Or in other words, he was: “...a mercy for the Aalameen [mankind, Jinns, and all that exists]!” Surah Al-Anbiya – Ayah 107. “And as a witness, and a bearer of glad tidings, and a warner - and as one who invites to Allah by His Leave, and as a lamp spreading light.” Surah Al-Ahzab – Ayah 46. Among that which goes against Islam and its
easy to follow message is the extravagance of the Khawaarij, the foolishness and extremes of Sufism, the passionate love of the poets, and the vainglory of those who worship this life. “Then Allah by His Leave guided those who believed to the truth of that wherein they differed. And Allah guides whom He wills to a Straight Path!” Surah Al-Baqarah – Ayah 213. Wasalaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu Ahsin. Details Taken From – “Don’t Be Sad” by Shaykh Aaidh Al-Qarni. O Allah, O Sufficer of the isolated and weak and Protector against terrifying affairs! Offenses have isolated me, so there is none to be my companion. I am too weak for Thy wrath and there is none to strengthen me. I have approached the terror of meeting
Thee and there is none to still my fear. I beg for Your Mercy! AmeenPush On Dua!__Do You Yahoo!?Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com
