[IslamCity] Names of Allah: Al-Baqi
AL-BAQI The Everlasting Everyone on it will pass away; but the Face of your Lord will remain, Master of Majesty and Generosity. (Surat ar-Rahman, 55:26-27) All of creation has an end. People are born, live for a certain period of time, and then die. This is also true of plants and animals. For instance, a tree may live for hundreds of years and then fulfill its destiny by dying at its appointed time. Similarly, non-living things also will meet their end, for time wears them all out. In addition, what remains of ancient nations is only their ruins. Allah calls our attention to this fact: How many wrongdoing cities We destroyed, and now all their roofs and walls are fallen in; how many abandoned wells and stuccoed palaces! (Surat al-Hajj, 22:45) The universe also has an end. All of the meteors, stars, and suns hurtling through space will one day exhaust their energy and disappear. Or, for another reason, Allah will destroy this universe and keep His promise regarding the Day of Judgment. He can do this, for He is the Creator and sole Owner of infinity, as the Qur'an reveals: Anything you have been given is only the enjoyment of this world's life and finery. What is with Allah is better and longer lasting. So, will you not use your intellect? (Surat al-Qasas, 28:60) www.harunyahya.com "And if all the trees on the earth were pens and the sea (were ink wherewith to write), with seven seas behind it to add to its (supply), yet the Words of Allah would not be exhausted. [IslamCity] Action Alert: MAB Student Newsletter Issue 4 Now Online
From: Majlis Syura Muslimun UK Eire Sent: Monday, May 02, 2005 1:25 AM Subject: Action Alert: MAB Student Newsletter Issue 4 Now Online Action Alert: MAB Student Newsletter Issue 4 Now Online Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah The Muslim Association of Britains Youth Section would like to announce the release of Issue 4 of its student newsletter Reflections. Reflections is distributed free of charge on university campuses across the UK and aims to provide a balanced, comprehensive understanding of Islam to aid in the spiritual and intellectual development of students. Issue 4 has been released to coincide with the start of the new Muslim year 1426 AH, a time for reflection and self-evaluation.The passage of time should be a reminder to us of the shortness of life and with each passing year, we should reflect on our use of time and resolve to make better use of this precious gift from God the Almighty. To mark the beginning of the new year, our regular feature This Month in History recounts the Hijrah (Migration) of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) from his hometown Mecca to Madinah, an arduous journey that laid the foundation for the establishment of the first Muslim state in Madinah, and which marks the beginning of the Muslim or Hijri calendar. On the anniversary of his martyrdom on February 12th 1949, we also remember Imam Hasan Al Banna , the man widely regarded as the greatest Islamic reviver of our era. In an article written exclusively for Reflections, Sheikh Rached Al Ghannouchi, himself one of contemporary Islams leading scholars, provides us with an analysis of the legacy of Imam Al Banna. Our cover story addresses the contentious issue of the status of women in Islam in a thought-provoking article that challenges both traditional notions of female inferiority as well those of modern feminism. Our spirituality section this issue focuses on jealousy, the cancer of the soul that threatens to erodes families and communities, while our Quranic Reflections section discusses the power of the Quran as a force of change, and presents some personal reflections on our featured verse from surat az-Zumar. Our regular feature Eye on the Ummah this issue takes a look at Bangladesh while our current affairs section previews the upcoming National Union of Students conference and its relevance to Muslim students, as well as provides a first hand account of the devastation suffered in Sri Lanka during the recent tsunami. Finally in Campus Reflections, we review past and upcoming campus events. The entire newsletter may be read online here. We hope that readers will find Issue 4 to be an interesting and informative read and would welcome any feedback, both positive and negative. We would like to thank those who have provided constructive feedback and valued contributions so far, which we will be considering for future issues. [IslamCity] Dialog: Pope John Paul II's Respect for Al_Islam
Alhamdullah, Wa Alaikum As Salaam. While I am not privy to what the pope did secretly, or the secrets of the Catholic Church, I do laud Pope John Paul II, for what he did publically. He was the first pope, since the coming of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), 1400 years ago, to visit an Islamic place of Worship, wherehe kissed a Holy Quran, a vivid demonstration of his respect for the revelations of Allah to Prophet Muhammad, and the religion of Al-Islam. But he kept it a secret from the rest in Vatican. This is because of his worry about the backlash from the Catholics who are in their 1.4 Billion followers.Imagine, a grand mufti of the Catholic reverted to Islam in an open manner, Pope John Paul II will be murdered outright to silence him from telling the truths to the whole world. The fact that Exorcism can only be done by the highest Archbishop in secrecy . . . the truths is that they are using the Holy Quran verse i,e, Ad Kursi (2:255) to repel demons. [IslamCity] Methodists to Reinstate Defrocked Minister in Modern Day Sodom Gomorrah
Methodists to Reinstate Defrocked Minister By FOSTER KLUG, Associated Press Writer (Comments in RED are Mine) Fri Apr 29, 5:35 PM ET http://story.news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050429/ap_on_re_us/methodist_gays LINTHICUM, Md. - A Methodist court Friday reinstated a gay minister who had been defrocked for declaring to her congregation that she was in a relationship with another woman. The United Methodist Church appeals panel voted 8 to 1 to set aside the December decision by another church court to oust Irene "Beth" Stroud for violating the denomination's ban on "self-avowed, practicing homosexual" clergy. The panel said the ban was "null and void" because the church procedures were not followed when it was adopted. However, Jim Allen, general counsel for the church's finance and administration agency, said the opinion would have to be endorsed by the highest Methodist court, the Judicial Council, before it became church law. The ruling was sure to inflame traditional Methodists who have been outraged that church leaders haven't done more to enforce the ban on actively gay clergy. The church is expected to appeal the decision to the Judicial Council. Stroud said she hoped the verdict would lead to greater acceptance of gays in the church, but added that she won't resume ministerial duties until the appeals process is completed. "It's not something that I can take off and put on again like a suit of clothes, so I will wait until it's completely over," said Stroud. The Rev. Thomas Hall, the counsel for the church, said he would consult with the church's bishop in eastern Pennsylvania, where Stroud's church is located, about the next step, but he said "we will probably appeal." "This is way overstepping the boundaries of church law," Hall said. "We are doing harm to 40,000 other Methodist ministers out there who think we should have some boundaries." The case stems from Stroud's announcement two years ago to her Philadelphia congregation that she was living in a committed relationship with a woman. After her declaration, a church council defrocked her, meaning that she could no longer serve communion or conduct baptisms. The council argued that Stroud violated the "clear, unambiguous" gay clergy ban when she publicly revealed her relationship. She kept the title of associate minister and worked in a lay capacity at the First United Methodist Church of Germantown. The appeals panel said the evidence against Stroud was "overwhelming," but she was denied due process in her trial because Methodist bodies, including the church's top legislative body, the General Conference, had not properly defined terms related to the ban on gay clergy, such as the meaning of "practicing homosexual." The General Conference also did not follow proper church procedures in adopting the ban, and that the technical violations made the ban "null and void. Mark Tooley, of the Institute on Religion and Democracy, an advocacy group for conservative mainline Protestants, called the opinion a "short-term issue," predicting the high court will overturn the verdict. "Politically and demographically, the church has shown itself to be moving in a more conservative direction and not in the direction of Beth Strouds," Tooley said. The decision to reinstate Stroud was made by the Northeastern Jurisdiction panel, which hears appeals from 12 states and the District of Columbia. The panel heard three hours of arguments on Thursday before beginning deliberations. Stroud is one of three gay clergy members tried since the Methodist General Conference passed a ban on gays in 1984. The Rev. Rose Mary Denman of New Hampshire was defrocked in 1987. The Rev. Karen Dammann of Washington state was acquitted last March because of an ambiguity in church law that the Methodist supreme court has since eliminated. Comments - Mine It seems that Christianity the Church cannot withstand the assault from these so called progressive elements in the Christian societies. This is the state to which individuals like Asra Nomani want to turn Islam Muslims to. God willing they will fail in their endeavour. Homosexuality has become a part parcel of life in the western world. It has penetrated all sections of the society. Very soon the children in the west will be brought up in an environment where either they will be having 2 daddies or 2 mommies. The Christians Missionaries from these Western countries should stay back home first re-convert the Christians to Christianity before going to Non Christian land trying to push Christianity down the throats of the Non Christians using deceptive methods. It is a shame that the people who walked on the moon are still limping on earth when it comes to morality. AB "For to us will be their return; then it will be for us to call them to account." [IslamCity] SAUDIS START TO BECOME MUSLIMS
Saudi Arabia bans forced marriage Women rights are limited in Saudi ArabiaSaudi Arabia's top religious authority has banned the practice of forcing women to marry against their will. Grand mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz al-Sheikh said forced marriage was against Islamic law and those responsible for it should be jailed. The high number of forced marriages in Saudi Arabia is believed to be a factor in the country's steep divorce rate. The ban is a significant victory for women's rights in Saudi Arabia, where females face a range of restrictions. 'Un-Islamic' Sheikh Abdul Aziz, who heads the Council of Senior Ulema (Scholars) said: "Forcing a woman to marry someone she does not want and preventing her from wedding that whom she chooses... is not permissible" under Islamic law. He said fathers who coerce daughters into in marriage should be jailed and not released "until they change their minds". According to Saudi media, about half of marriages in the country end in divorce, the Associated Press news agency reported. Women are subject to a number of restrictions in the kingdom - an absolute monarchy, governed according to a highly conservative interpretation of Islamic Sharia law. They are obliged to wear a veil and are not permitted to travel alone or mix with men other than relatives. Women were not able to obtain separate identity cards until 2001, and even then only with the permission of a male relative. They do not have the right to vote or run for public office and, until June last year, were forbidden from working in most jobs. *** {Invite (mankind, O Muhammad ) to the Way of your Lord (i.e. Islam) with wisdom (i.e. with the Divine Inspiration and the Qur'an) and fair preaching, and argue with them in a way that is better. [IslamCity] The Bounty of Allah (PART ONE)
Asalam Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatahu, By the Will and Grace of Allah, it is my hope to post a Daily Reflection. I am copying them from a book called; The Bounty of Allah Daily Reflections from Quran and Islamic Tradition compiled and translated by: Aneela Khalid Arshed. I hope everyone likes them. I'll start with a bit of her preface to the book; as follows: PART ONE: We live in a world filled with pain and suffering, and like all living creatures we have the need to be healed. Life on this planet is nothing short of a "dark night of the soul" within which we wander isolated and confused. Despite its advances modern medicine is bewildered by the complexities of the human psyche. The phenomenons of the psyche are deep and can be understood only when we turn inward and discover the numinous within. Though science and religion have frequently been at odds, few can deny the existence of a Higher Power, whose energy pulsates at the core of the universe. That same energy throbs inside each one of us, and once it is discovered, the dark world of shadows disappears, reawakening us to a new sense of well-being. Fear turns to hope, hope to faith, faith to knowledge, knowledge to understanding, and understanding to transformation. I spent many years trying to find my place in the universe: Where did I come from, where am I going, and what is my purpose in the world? Why is candor recompensed by deceit? Why does injustice dominate the world? Time and time again I learned lessons from my failures and found new answers to my questions. I began to see life from a different perspective. I found that adversity can lead to inner strength, patience to insight, and forgiveness to compassion, which is the threshold to freedom. All suffering has a purpose; if we are to heal, we must hold on to hope. (To be continued Inshallah) Points to ponder: 1. "Fear turns to hope, hope to faith, faith to knowledge, knowledge to understanding, and understanding to transformation." 2. "I found that adversity can lead to inner strength, patience to insight, and forgiveness to compassion, which is the threshold to freedom. All suffering has a purpose; if we are to heal, we must hold on to hope." Souladvisor O Allah, O Sufficer of the isolated and weak and Protector against terrifying affairs! Offenses have isolated me, so there is none to be my companion. I am too weak for Thy wrath and there is none to strengthen me. I have approached the terror of meeting Thee and there is none to still my fear. I beg for Your Mercy! AmeenPush On Dua!__Do You Yahoo!?Tired of spam? Yahoo!
