Dear Producer
Are we now going to have "confessions of enemies of the state" on our media which we used to think belonged only to the darkest days of Stalin's USSR?
Your presentation of the alleged woman bomber from Amman, Jordan, raises serious questions of journalistic ethics, human rights and international law.
You obviously have no evidence that the woman you exhibited is the alleged bomber. In that case you have given yourself the liberty to accept a Jordanian propaganda video as fact. It might be a complete fake.
In case she is the actual bomber, she is a prisoner of war or an alleged terrorist. In any case she is a prisoner. Why should she be brought on TV? It's against the rules of war. You have always expressed shock at American POWs and captives being brought on video or TV by their captors. Now you are violating your own principles.
If her "confession" was made under torture, it would mean that you have no compunction about bringing tortured prisoners to your screen. The woman was obviously parroting the horror story she had been ordered to repeat, to put herself in the worst possible light.
You did not remind your audience that the video was not your production but a Jordanian propaganda instrument which you reproduced without critical comment. Thus you are endorsing the murderous tyranny of King Abdullah of Jordan and all the crimes he has committed against his own people.
Try to report honestly on the Amman bombing. The whole world knows by now that the bombing targeted a top level meeting of U.S.-Israeli-Jordanian intelligence organizations. Till now you have not mentioned the name of the top intelligence officer who was killed in the bombing although he has been mentioned by name 3000 miles away in Pakistani newspapers. You are lagging far behind "third world" news agencies.
You owe your readers an apology for reproducing a propaganda video without any qualifying comments. I won't be surprised if the video was quickly contrived by Israeli intelligence. You have previously shown videos produced by Israelis of Palestinian children "suicide bombers" in their custody.

With western tourism being Jordan's biggest money maker, it would stand to reason that King Abdullah would want to give the impression that Jordan is on top of the hotel suicide bombings. However, obvious questions loom and apparently rules of ethics have been shelved---not only by Jordan, but by the American media, as well.
I am not surprised on Jordan's part. What I find distressing is the American media's rush to air Sajida Mubarak al-Rishawi?s confession. I can't help wondering if this confession was coerced. Given the reported treatment of those detained in Middle Eastern countries, this would be my first suspicion. How is it that Jordan was able to target this woman so quickly? She was purported to be dressed in festive attire as was everyone around her.
Further, American media surely must notice how quickly these acts lead to a roundup of suspects. Aren't they just a tiny bit skeptical? To the contrary, the American media seem eager to discard the very conventions of journalism and fair treatment that they would want accorded to their own citizens. They would not want an American detainee paraded before television cameras to spout what may very well be a coerced confession.
The disgraced Bernard Kerik, former New York City police commissioner, asserts that the bombing was a clear demonstration of Zarqawi's hatred not for Americans, but for his own people.
Could his statements, as well as the American media's complicity with the Jordanian government's rush to air this woman?s confession, serve the same motives? Calm westerners down and get them back to the Hyatt, the Radisson, and the Best Western to spend their western dollars, as quickly as possible.

It is simply amazing how the corporate media can ignore the obvious
fact there were no suicide bombers at the hotels in Amman, how photo
evidence proves beyond a shadow of a doubt (see images linked in this
previous post) the bombs were placed in the ceiling of the hotels, and
how it makes absolutely no sense for supposed Iraqi resistance
fighters to kill innocent civilians in a neighboring state. Instead of
pointing out these glaring inconsistencies, the corporate media zooms
in on Sajida Mubarak Atrous al-Rishawi, the Iraqi patsy alleged to
have participated in suicide bombings that never occurred, as the
photo evidence reveals.
Meanwhile, like a ghoulish circus barker, Secretary of State Condi
Rice said in a speech in Israel, where she tried to revive
Arab-Israeli peace hopes, that she was very encouraged so many
Jordanians had spoken out against terrorism since the attacks, which
killed 54 mostly Jordanians. Thousands have held rallies and
candle-light vigils in recent days, according to Reuters.
Once again, the corporate media fails to mention the obvious, taking
us for fools and chumpsthere is no such thing as Arab-Israeli peace
hopes, since Israel has no intention of ever engaging in peace with
Arabs, either in occupied Palestine or anywhere else, and are more
than likely responsible for the Jordan suicide bombings. Finally,
the corporate media pretends Arabs are attending rallies and
candle-light vigils en masse, when in fact most Arabs believe Israel
and the United States are responsible for these increasingly frequent
and deadly terrorist attacks, thus proving Arabs living under
authoritarian governments (supported by the United States) are more
intelligent than the average American.

Karachi figures as Test venue in proposed itinerary
Karachi, Nov 3 (PTI) India would start their tour of Pakistan early next year with a Test in Lahore and cap the 40-day series with a match in Karachi, according to a revised itinerary prepared by the Pakistan Cricket Board. According to the new itinerary, which has already been sent to the Indian Cricket Board for approval, the tour would start in Lahore on January 2 and end in Karachi on February 11. "Yes, we have sent a revised itinerary according to which the first Test will be played in Lahore while Karachi will host the third and final Test as well as the fifth and last one-day international," PCB's Director, Board Operations, Saleem Altaf told PTI. "Basically we have swapped the first and third Tests in the revised itinerary and I think it is logical considering the fact that BCCI had requested the two-day tour opening practice match in Lahore only. By doing so, we have avoided lots of logistical hassles and complications," Altaf said. The first Test has been scheduled from
January 5 after the two-day game on January 2-3 in the Punjab city. The second Test would be played from January 13 at Faisalabad and the Karachi Test will begin on January 21. The five-match one-day international series would be played at Peshawar (Jan 28), Rawalpindi (Jan 31), Lahore (Feb 3), Multan (Feb 6) and Karachi (Feb 11). PTI

What is the aim of politics in Islam? According to Al-Mawardi from his book Al-Ahkam Al-Sultaniyyah, it is hirasatud din wa siasatud dunya - to uphold the religion and administer the world. Politics is not munkar - is not a depravity - real politics is noble virtuous because it administers the affairs of all creatures, bringing man closer to good and away from fasad - evil. According to Ibn al-Qayyim, politics is really the justice of Allah the Almighty and His Prophet (peace and the blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. was a politician as well as the messenger conveying the risalah, murabbi - teacher, Qadi - Chief Justice, Head of the nation and Imam of the ummah. The Khulafa' al Rasyidun - the rightly guided leaders who succeeded him were also politicians following the Sunnah - way of the Prophet, establishing just administration, practising ihsan - the betterment of good and providing the leadership of 'ilm - knowledge and Iman - belief. However in the present time, due to 'politics' man faced suffering as a result of deceit and political ploys and scheming and devious politicians, whether in the form of past colonialists, treacherous rulers, tyrannical leaders and regimes preaching Machiavellian philosophy (the ends justifies the means!). It became common to label and describe committed Muslims as 'political' so that they are regarded warily and wickedly for the purpose of disassociating and furthering apart the people from them, intending that society will shun and hate what is called 'political Islam'. It has been such that symbols of Islam like the headscarf, the proper attire and congregational prayers - Salat jama'ah are attempted to be labelled 'political'. It is a blatant lie for those who say that there is no religion in politics and that there is no politics in religion. This deceit was once tried in the form of an attempted fatwa - a decree while the members of the Ikhwan al-Muslimun were imprisoned in the detention camps in Egypt in the 50's. The regime wanted to influence the masses to regard the activists and the Dai' (the very people who wanted to uphold the Syari'ah, Al-Qur'an and Al-Sunnah) as the purveyors of fasad - evil by using corrupted 'ulama - paid scholars. 2. The Fight against Fasad and Zulm (Evil, Transgression and Tyranny) is the utmost in Jihad From the understanding of the Prophet's tradition (mafhum hadith): Munkar (transgression) is not limited to khamr - liqour, gambling and zina - - unlawful sex but degrading and defiling the honour and dignity of the people and citizens is a major transgression, so is cheating in the elections, refusing to give testimony - neglecting to vote, letting government be in the hands of those who are not deserving and undesired, stealing and squandering the nation's wealth and property, monopolising the people's needs for personal gains or cronies' interests, detaining people without crime or just cause, without judgement from a fair court, torturing human beings in prison and the detention camps, giving, accepting and mediating in bribes, cowering up to, praising evil rulers, allowing the enemies of Allah and the enemies of the Muslim community to be leaders and shunning the believers - the mu'min. These are all grave transgressions! When a Muslim remains quiet upon seeing all of these it means that he or she does not deserve to live (is not alive) from the mafhum of al-ayat and al-hadith. Islam requires that every Muslim has political responsibility. A Muslim is required by his Iman - faith to be truly concerned with the affairs and problems of the ummah - community, helping and defending the meek and the weak, fighting tyranny and oppression. By retreating and abstaining oneself, it will only invite divine retribution and being seized by the flames of hell (mafhum ayat). 3. Political Freedom is Our Utmost Need Today Islam is always rejuvenated, its message spread across, its resurgence, its reverberating call heard by all even if it is given some limited freedom. Therefore the first battle is to obtain freedom to deliver the message of da'wah, the risalah of tawhid (Unity of God),

Is it waajib (obligatory)? Answer:Praise be to Allaah. Fasting six days of Shawwaal after the obligatory fast of Ramadaan is Sunnah Mustahabbah, not waajib. It is recommended for the Muslim to fast six days of Shawwaal, and in this there is great virtue and an immense reward. Whoever fasts these six days will have recorded for him a reward as if he had fasted a whole year, as was reported in a saheeh hadeeth from the
Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). Abu Ayyoob (may Allaah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Whoever fasts Ramadaan and follows it with six days of Shawwaal, it will be as if he fasted for a lifetime. (Narrated by Muslim, Abu Dawood, al-Tirmidhi, al-Nisaai and Ibn Maajah). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) explained this when he said: Whoever fasts for six days after (Eid) al-Fitr has completed the year: (whoever does a good deed (hasanah) will have ten hasanah like it). According to another report: Allaah has made for each hasanah ten like it, so a month is like fasting ten months, and fasting six days completes the year. (al-Nisaai and Ibn Maajah. See also
Saheeh al-Targheeb wal-Tarheeb, 1/421). It was also narrated by Ibn Khuzaymah with the wording: Fasting for the month of Ramadaan brings the reward of ten like it, and fasting for six days brings the reward of two months, and that is the fasting of the whole year. The Hanbali and Shaafai fuqaha explained that fasting six days of Shawwaal after fasting Ramadaan makes it as if one has fasted for an entire year of obligatory fasts, because the multiplication of the reward applies even to naafil fasts, because each hasanah brings the reward of ten like it. Another of the important benefits of fasting six days of Shawwaal is that is makes up for any shortfall in a person's obligatory Ramadaan fasts, because no one is free of shortcomings or sins that have a negative effect on his fasting. On the Day of Resurrection, some of his naafil deeds will be taken to make up the shortcomings in his obligatory deeds, as
the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: The first thing for which people will be brought to account on the Day of Resurrection will be their salaah (prayer). Our Lord, may He be glorified and exalted, will say to His angels although He knows best Look at the salaah of My slave, whether it is complete or incomplete. If it is perfect, it will be recorded as perfect, and if something is lacking, He will say, Look and see whether My slave did any voluntary (naafil) prayers. If he did some voluntary prayers, [Allaah] will say, Complete the obligatory actions of My slave from his voluntary actions. Then all his actions will be dealt with in a similar manner. This is the first declared Pakistani delegation which has directly gone into Israeli Capital. The delegation arrived in Amman Jordan via Dobai and is believed to be comprising religious scholars, retired army officers, businessmen and some officials. DG Middle East at Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ms Humeira Hasan did not like to comment when approached by Pakistan Observer. Information officer of the FO however said that Ministry is not aware of any such delegation visiting Israel. He said Pakistan's position on sending delegation to Gaza and West Bank remains same which means that visit of Pakistani delegation has been delayed. Palestinian President Mr Mahmood Abbas during his visit to Pakistan had invited a Pakistani delegation to visit Gaza. But Palestinian Authority later signalled its inability to receive such a delegation due to its displeasure over the meeting of Pakistani and Israeli Foreign Ministers in Turkey. Reports from Israel confirmed that a 174-member non official Pakistani delegation has arrived in Tel Aviv Saturday, the report said. The visit comes after the first meeting between Pakistani and Israeli foreign ministers in Istanbul at the beginning of September. Representatives from Israel and Pakistan have been secretly holding talks for several months through diplomatic and informal channels. Israeli Military Radio reported earlier this month that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom will receive the delegation. The relations between the second most populous Muslim country in the world and the Jewish state have been hostile for decades, but began to warm up after Israel offered aid to Pakistan following this month's devastating earthquake, the Radio report said. Pakistan accepted Israeli offer, indicating that the sole Muslim nuclear power was cautiously moving towards better ties with Israel. Earlier this year President Pervez Musharraf and Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon shook hands on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York. Two weeks prior to the famous handshake, the two countries foreign ministers met in Istanbul for the first-ever high-level meeting aimed at normalising bilateral relations. Pakistan had decided to engage with Israel, its foreign minister said then, because Israel pulled out settlers and troops from the Gaza Strip and it constituted a turning point for the establishment of a Palestinian state. Israel currently has full diplomatic relations with only three Arab states namely Mauritania, Egypt and Jordan, and a handful of Muslim majority states including Turkey. The visit by Pakistani delegation has come a day after President General Pervez Musharraf's meeting with Jack Rozen, Chairman American Jewish Congress. President told Rozen that Pakistan would consider formally recognising Israel only after the creation of an independent Palestinian state. Pakistan, which has no diplomatic ties with Israel, has long demanded that the Jewish state end its occupation of Palestinian territory and that the Palestinian state should emerge on the world map with Jerusalem as its capital. During meeting, Rozen told President Musharraf that Israel wanted to establish diplomatic, trade and economic ties with Islamabad. But Musharraf clearly told him that establishment of an independent Palestinian state, was a must for any forward movement. Rozen informed Musharraf that the Jewish community in America was collecting donations for the victims of the 8 October earthquake. Pakistan had earlier declined an offer of direct aid from Israel after the quake, but said it could send aid through international relief organisations. Pakistan did not invite Israel to 18-19 November donors conference in Islamabad to seek more help for the reconstruction of devastated areas. Meanwhile official sources in Palestinian Embassy expressed their ignorance about the visit of 174-member Pakistani delegation saying that the Embassy has not been informed or contacted by Pakistani authorities about this visit.
