The meaning of the hadeeth " `Qul Huwa Allaahu Ahad" is equivalent to one-third of the Qur'aan" Question: Answer #4156 item#2 (Reciting it [Qul Huwa Allaahu Ahad; Say He is Allah, The One and Only] once is equivalent to one-third of the Quraan) then there is no need to learn the entire quraan or to even read it during ramadaan,etc all you have to do is to read sura Ikhlas.I think you made a mistake.Sura Ikhlas is the substance of 1/3 of the quraan.it is amazing to believe that reading the sura Iklas 3 times will give you the blessing of reading the ENTIRE quraan,then there is no point reading the entire Quraan. Answer: Praise be to Allaah. Firstly: there follow some of the ahaadeeth narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) which state that Soorat al-Ikhlaas (Qul Huwa Allaahu Ahad) is equivalent to one-third of the Qur'aan. Al-Bukhaari (6643) narrated from Abu Sa'eed that a man heard another man reciting Qul Huwa Allaahu Ahad and repeating it. The next morning he came to the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and told him about that. The man thought that it was too little, but the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "By the One in Whose hand is my soul, it is equivalent to one-third of the Qur'aan." Muslim (811) narrated from Abu'l-Dardaa' that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "Is any one of you unable to recite one-third of the Qur'aan in one night?" They said, "How could anyone read one-third of the Qur'aan?" He said, "Qul Huwa Allaahu Ahad is equivalent to one-third of the Qur'aan." Muslim (812) narrated that Abu Hurayrah said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "Gather together, for I will recite to you one-third of the Qur'aan." So those who could gather together gathered there, then the Prophet of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) came out and recited Qul Huwa Allaahu Ahad, then he went in. They said to one another, Perhaps there has been some news from heaven on account of which he has gone inside (the house). Then the Prophet of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) came out and said, "I told you that I was going to recite to you one-third of the Qur'aan. Verily it is equivalent to one-third of the Qur'aan." Secondly: The bounty of Allaah is immense, and Allaah has bestowed His bounty upon this ummah and has made up for its short life span by giving it more reward for simple deeds. It is strange that with some people, instead of this motivating them to do more good, this makes them apathetic and lazy in doing acts of worship, or they feel that this bounty and reward is strange and farfetched. With regard to the meaning of the hadeeth: There is a difference between jaza' (reward) and ijza' (what is sufficient). What is making the brother confused is that he does not see the difference between them. Jaza' means the reward which Allaah gives for obeying Him. Ijza' means what is sufficient and takes the place of something else. Reciting Qul Huwa Allaahu Ahad brings a reward equivalent to reciting one-third of the Qur'aan, but it does not take the place of reading one-third of the Qur'aan. If a person vows _ for example _ to read one-third of the Qur'aan, it is not sufficient for him to read Qul Huwa Allaahu Ahad, because it is equivalent to one-third of the Qur'aan in reward, but not in terms of being sufficient or taking the place of reading one-third of the Qur'aan. The same may be said of reciting it three times. If a person recites it three times in his prayer, that does not mean that he does not have to recite al-Faatihah, even though he will be given the reward of reciting the whole Qur'aan. A similar example is the reward given by the Lawgiver to one who offers a single prayer in the Sanctuary of Makkah, and that he will have the reward of one hundred thousand prayers. Does anyone take this divine bounty to means that he does not have to pray for decades because he offered a single prayer in the Haram that is equivalent to one hundred thousand prayers? Rather this has to do with reward; as for what is sufficient, that is another matter altogether. Moreover, none of the scholars has ever said that there is no need for us to read the Qur'aan or that Qul Huwa Allaah Ahad is sufficient and takes the place of that. The correct scholarly view is that this soorah has this great virtue because the Qur'aan deals with three topics: one-third for rulings, one-third for promises and warnings, and one-third for the Divine names and attributes. This soorah combines names and attributes. This is the view of Abu'l-`Abbaas ibn Surayj, and Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah stated that it was good in Majmoo' al-Fataawa, 17/103. Remember that you will indeed meet your Lord and that He will reckon your deeds, Prophet MuhammadÂs (Pbuh) Last Sermon.On the 8th day of Dhil Hijjah, the day of Al-Tarwiyah, Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) went to Mina and spent the day and night there. There he performed all the prayers incumbent during that period. The following day, the Prophet recited his dawn prayer and at sunrise, proceeded on his camel Al-Qaswa to the Mount of Arafat followed by the pilgrims. As he ascended the mountain, he was surrounded by thousands of his companions reciting the talbiyah and the takbir. Then he requested some of his companions to put up a tent for him on the east side of the mountain at a spot called Namirah. When the sun passed the zenith, he ordered his camel to be saddled and rode on it until he reached the valley of Uranah. It was there that while sitting on his camel, the Prophet (Pbuh) delivered his sermon to his people. RabiÂah ibn Umayyah ibn Khalaf repeated the sermon after him sentence by sentence. He began by praising God and thanking Him and then turning to the people, he said:  O Men listen well to my words, for I do not know whether I shall meet you again on such an occasion in the future. O Men, your lives and your property shall be inviolate until you meet your Lord. The safety of your lives and of your property shall be as inviolate as this holy day and holy month. Remember that you will indeed meet your Lord and that He will reckon your deeds. Thus do I warn you. Whoever of you is keeping a trust of someone else shall return that trust to its rightful owner. All interest obligation shall henceforth be waived. Your capital however is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer inequity. God has judged that there shall be no interest and that all interest due to Abbas ibn Abd al Muttalib shall henceforth be waived. Every right arising out of homicide in pre-Islamic days is henceforth waived. And the first such right that I waive is that arising from the murder of RabiÂah ibm al Harith ibn Abd al Muttalib. O Men, the devil has lost all hope of ever being worshipped in this land of yours. Nevertheless, he still is anxious to determine the lesser of your deeds. Beware of him, therefore for the safety of your religion. O Men, tampering with the calendar is evidence of great unbelief and confirms the unbelievers in their misguidance. They indulge in it one year and forbid it the next in order to make permissible that which God forbade and to forbid that which God has made permissible. The pattern according to which the time is reckoned is always the same. With God, the months are twelve in number. Four of them are holy. Three of these are successive and one occurs singly between the months of Jumada and Shaban.O Men, to you a right belongs with respect to your women and to your women a right with respect with you. It is your right that they do not fraternize with anyone of whom you do not approve as well as never to commit adultery. But if they do, then God has permitted you to isolate them within their homes and to chastise them without cruelty. But if they abide by your right, then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers. Remember that you have taken them as your wives and enjoyed their flesh only under GodÂs trust and with His permission. Reason well, therefore O Men and ponder my words which I now convey to you. I am leaving you with the Book of God and the Sunnah of His Prophet. If you follow them, you will never go astray. O Men, harken well to my words. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not therefore do injustice to your own selves. O God have I conveyed your message? As the Prophet delivered his speech, Rabiah repeated it sentence by sentence and asked the people every now and then whether or not they had understood the ProphetÂs words and committed them to memory. At the end of his speech, the Prophet asked, ÂO God, have I conveyed your message? And the people answered from all corners,  Indeed so! God be witness. When the Prophet finished his sermon, he dismounted and waited until noon, at which time he performed both the noon and the mid-afternoon prayers. Statement on Publishing Anti-Prophet Cartoons in Denmark and Norway

All praise is due to Allah, and may the peace and
blessings of Allah be up on the Messenger of Allah and upon all the
prophets and messengers.
The International Union for Muslim Scholars (IUMS) has
observed with deep interest the issue of the publishing of cartoons that
ridicule the Prophet, which in turn insults the feelings of millions of
Muslims as they see the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) depicted
in an offensive manner. The drawings were first published in a Danish
magazine on December 30, 2005, after which they were republished on
January 10, 2006,
in a Christian Norwegian magazine. These drawings
were presented in a way that could never be acceptable to any person of
good faith, nor ever approved of by any person having sound morals. This
depiction is unbefitting of a prophet who delivered the divine
message.
The IUMS waited for a long time hoping that efforts
exerted by the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), the Arab
League, the Muslim World League, and a number of Arab and Muslim countries
would result in receiving a proper apology for the offense that was
committed by the Danish magazine and followed by the Norwegian magazine.
However, this apology never came. The only reply from the Danish was that
their prime minister reaffirmed that country's commitment to freedom of
_expression_ and condemned any statement or acts against certain groups or
people because of their religion or ethnicity.
The IUMS considers that unclear statement as an
attempt to intentionally avoid addressing the issue of these disturbing
cartoons by speaking about minorities in general terms. This injures the
feelings of millions of Muslims around the world as well as those of the
180,000 Danish Muslims who represent three percent of the population.
The IUMS asks Arab and Muslim governments to express
to the Danish and Norwegian governments their Muslim people's anger at
this direct insult of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) by the
publishing of these offensive cartoons. Arab and Muslim governments should
also exercise all possible political and diplomatic pressure on the Danish
and Norwegian governments so as to halt all such organized anti-Islam
campaigns that aim at spreading hatred of and contempt for Islam, its
sanctities, and its believers.
The IUMS asks Arab and Muslim countries to boycott an
upcoming Middle East exhibition organized by the Danish Center for Culture and Development
(DCCD).
The IUMS urges officials in Denmark and Norway to
take a firm stance against these repeated insults to the Muslim nation and
the Prophet who is followed by 1.3 billion people across the globe, in
order to preserve the positive relationship that exists between these two
nations and their citizen Muslims as well as other Muslims worldwide. If
this does not happen, the IUMS will be forced to urge millions of Muslims
across the world to boycott all Danish and Norwegian products and
activities.
If the Danish and Norwegian governments make so little
of Muslims' feelings, then boycotting is the least that every Muslim
should do, and the least that every da`iyah and scholar should call
for in response to the flagrant abuse of depicting the Messenger (peace
and blessings be upon him) in such offensive caricatures. We call upon
these countries to come to their senses and to offer a proper and clear
apology to the international Muslim community.
And Allah has full power and control over His affairs.

PARIS, February 2, 2006 (IslamOnline.net & News Agencies) The
managing editor of the daily France Soir has been sacked for republishing
blasphemous cartoons of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
"We express our regrets to the Muslim community and all people who were
shocked by the publication" of the cartoons," Egyptian-born Raymond Lakah, the
paper's owner, said in a statement to Agence France-Presse (AFP).
He decided to "remove Jacques Lefranc as managing director of the
publication as a powerful sign of respect for the intimate beliefs and
convictions of every individual."
The Paris daily reprinted on Wednesday, February 1, twelve controversial
cartoons depicting and ridiculing Prophet Muhammad.
It claimed the move was only to illustrate the controversy sparked by
their initial publication in Denmark's Jyllands-Posten paper in
September.
The cartoons included portrayals of a man assumed to be the Prophet
wearing a time-bomb shaped turban and showed him as a knife-wielding nomad
flanked by shrouded women.
The caricatures, which were later reprinted by a Norwegian magazine,
triggered an outrage across the Muslim world.
Jyllands-Posten has recently said the
cartoons "were not in violation of Danish law but have irrefutably offended many
Muslims, and for that we apologize."
Ban
In a related development, Morocco banned all sales of France Soir
on its territory.
"Wednesday's edition of France Soir was banned from the Moroccan
territory because of the publication by the French newspaper of cartoons of
Prophet Muhammad on the fallacious pretext of freedom of the press," the
Ministry of Communications said in a statement to AFP.
It said that the ban was a reaction to "the intentionally offensive
character (of the cartoons) to the Prophet and the fact that they were a blatant
and gratuitous provocation for the beliefs of Muslims."
The reprinting of the insulting cartoons by France Soir, a once
successful daily which is now fighting to survive, has drawn condemnation from
the sizable Muslim minority in France, the largest in Europe.
Leaders of the minority, estimated at some six million, have vowed to sue
the daily over the insulting drawings.

The law on pornography in Indonesia remains unclear, according to Antara. Parliament is studying the issue and drafting a new legislation to guide authorities on what publications can and cannot be allowed in the country, it added. Indonesia is the most populous Muslim state with a population of 220 million, the overwhelming majority of them are Muslim. Rejections for the planned publication came also from Indonesian Youth and Sports Minister Adhyaksa Dault and the biggest two Muslim organizations in the country. Dault said recently that he would try hard to prevent the publication of the Indonesian version of Playboy. "The magazine can destroy younger generation's morals. This is very dangerous and we must prevent its circulation," he said. The Association of Muhammadiyah Students (IMM) also voiced strong rejection to the planned publication of the magazine for a concern that it might destroy the morality of the nation. "Despite the publisher's promises that the magazine's contents would be on lifestyle, conventional issues, culture and politics, and there would be no nude pictures, we just don't believe him," Ahmad Rofiq, IMM chairman, told Antara. CAIRO, January 30, 2006 (IslamOnline.net & News Agencies) The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) and the Arab League, the Muslim world's two main political bodies, are seeking a UN resolution, backed by possible sanctions, to protect religions following the publication of cartoons depicting and ridiculing Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). "Consultations are currently taking place at the highest level between Arab countries and the OIC to ask the UN to adopt a binding resolution banning contempt of religious beliefs and providing for sanctions to be imposed on contravening countries or institutions," Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, OIC's secretary general, told reporters in Cairo on Sunday, January 29, reported Agence France-Presse (AFP). He said the UN General Assembly would be asked to "pass a resolution banning attacks on religious beliefs." The deputy secretary general of the Arab League, Ahmed Ben Helli, confirmed that contacts were under way for such a proposal to be made to the United Nations. Twelve drawings depicting Prophet Muhammad in different settings appeared in Jyllands-Posten, Denmark's mass-circulation daily, on September 30. One of the drawings depicted a man assumed to be the prophet as wearing a turban shaped like a bomb. The cartoons were reprinted in a Norwegian magazine earlier this month just to add insult into injury. The drawings triggered a diplomatic crisis and massive popular protests across the Muslim world. Embassy Closed With Muslim political and popular anger showing no sign of abating, Libya said Sunday it was closing its embassy in Denmark in protest against the publication of the caricatures. "In light of the attacks against Prophet Muhammad and the silence of the Danish authorities, Libya has decided to close down its diplomatic representation in Copenhagen," the Foreign Ministry announced in a statement run by the official Jana news agency. The statement added that Libya would take "retaliatory economic measures against Denmark." Muslim wrath has spread rapidly in the Middle East with Gulf retailers pulling Danish products off their shelves and protestors gathering outside Danish embassies. Syria and Bahrain were the latest Arab countries to join the chorus. "Syria calls on the Danish government to take the necessary measures to punish the culprits. The dialogue of civilizations is based on mutual respect," said an official quoted by the official Syrian news agency on Sunday. The Bahraini cabinet, at a meeting on Sunday, condemned the cartoons "which are a deliberate attack against the glorious Prophet Muhammad and have angered Muslims the world over." Saudi Arabia has already recalled its ambassador to Denmark in protest at the Danish government's position on the publication of the offensive cartoons. Adamant "The Danish government and the Danish nation as such can not be held responsible for what is published in independent media," Rasmussen said. Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen said on Sunday his government could not act against the satirical cartoons, reported Reuters. "The government can in no way influence the media. And the Danish government and the Danish nation as such can not be held responsible for what is published in independent media," he insisted. Jyllands-Posten had not intended to insult Muslims when it published the drawings, said the premier, referring to an editorial on the paper's Web site in Danish and Arabic. "We are sorry the matter has reached these proportions and repeat that we had no intention to offend anyone, and that we as the rest of the Danish society respect freedom of religion," the newspaper's editor-in-chief Carsten Juste said in the editorial. By Harun Yahya There are many places in the world where the temperature falls below 0°C in winter.Most of our planet is covered with water. Oceans and seas make up three fourths of the earthÂs surface while the land itself contains countless numbers of rivers and lakes. The snow and ice on the summits of lofty mountains is water in its frozen form. A substantial part of the earthÂs water is in the sky: every cloud contains thousandsÂsometimes millions-of tons of water in the form of vapour. From time to time, some of this water vapour turns into drops of liquid and falls to the ground: in other words, it rains. Even the air youÂre breathing now contains a certain amount of water vapour.In short, no matter where you may look
on the surface of the earth, you are certain to see water around somewhere. Indeed, the place you are sitting in at this moment probably contains about 40 to 50 litres of water in it. Look around. You canÂt see it? Look again, more carefully, this time raising your eyes from these words and look at your hands, arms, legs, and body. That 40-50 litre mass of water is you!ItÂs you because about 70 per cent of the human body is water. The biggest part of the blood that circulates everywhere in your body is of course water. Other liquids freeze from the bottom up; water freezes from the top down. This is one of the most unusual properties of water and it is crucial for the existence of water on the surface of the earth. Were it not for this property, that is, if ice didnÂt float, much of our planetÂs water would be locked up in ice and life would be impossible in its seas, lakes, ponds and rivers.There are many places in the world where the temperature
falls below 0°C in winter, often considerably below that. Such cold will of course affect the water in seas, lakes, etc. These bodies of water grow colder and colder and parts of them begin to freeze. If ice didnÂt behave the way it does (if it didnÂt float in other words) this ice would sink to the bottom while the warmer bits of water would rise to the surface and be exposed to the air. But the temperature of that air is still below freezing point so these will freeze too and sink to the bottom. This process would continue until there was no liquid water left at all. But this isnÂt what happens. What happens instead is this: As it gets colder, water grows heavier until it reaches 4°C at which point everything suddenly changes. After this, the water begins to expand and it becomes lighter as the temperature drops. As a result, the 4°C water remains on the bottom, the 3°C water above it, the 2°C water above that and so on. Only at the surface does the temperature of the water
actually reach 0°C and there it freezes. But only the surface has frozen: the 4°C layer of water beneath the ice remains liquid and that is enough for underwater creatures and plants to continue to live.We should note here that another property of water-the low thermal conductivity of ice and snow-is also crucial in this process. Because they are such poor conductors of heat, the layers of ice and snow keep the heat in the water below from escaping into the atmosphere. As a result of all this, even if the air temperature falls to -50°C, the layer of sea ice will never be more than a meter or two thick and there will be many fractures in it. Creatures such as seals and penguins that dwell in polar regions can take advantage of this to reach the water beneath the ice.In water, God has given us life and with it, He causes the food by which we are nourished to spring from the soil.But the most important aspect of all this is that this truth, which has
been discovered by modern science, was revealed in the QurÂan, bestowed upon humanity as a guide fourteen centuries ago. Concerning water and mankind, AllahÂs word is revealed in the QurÂan:ÂIt is He who sends down water from the sky. From it you drink and from it come the shrubs among which you graze your herds. And by it He makes crops grow for you and olives and dates and grapes and fruit of every kind. There is certainly a Sign in that for people who reflectÂ. (Surah Al-Nahl: 10-11)

The following piece is a good summary of Islam. However, I would like the writer to do more research on two items that are highlighted in Red. Some of us may tend to believe that all the holy books are devoid of arrogance, we as individuals may interpret it or sleight it to suit our wants, as it is human to believe that we have the best and we chase only that, that is the best. With a few exceptions, representatives of faiths believe that their's is the best. I am sure every one is guilty of it. Both the paragraphs have this line "... Islam is the only religion... " Even though the author's intention was to write to the Muslim audience, I would think that it takes away the spirituality of being in tune with God. Religion is Humility and claiming to be the only religion brings arrogance in to the equation. I would like to think that Qur'aan has many verses (some one can help with this) that allows one to respect what others choose, and is reinforced by the fact that there is no compulsion in matters of faith. If one is selling the religion, I can see the value of "the only religion..". As my daughter had argued "Dad why would the clergy want to say that all religions are beautiful, if they do that, why would the public want to go to them, and how would they make their living? How would they build their congregation? You can always believe that you have a faith that gives you peace, tranquility and spirituality as other faiths give the others what they are looking for. Can we temper our religiosity to this temperature? That may be the ultimate surrender to the will of God when all distinctions between you and I fade. True spirit of Islam By Haider Zaman ISLAM had never been so much a target of criticism and accusations as it is today. Some people call it a religion that breeds intolerance and bigotry, while there are others who blame it for preaching animosity and discrimination. And some brand it as a religion that sanctions violence, terrorism, oppression and conflicts specially against the opponents in faith.The responsibility for these accusations lies squarely on us — the Muslims of today. We have not been able to project the true spirit of Islam in general and the sublimity, objectivity and universality of its message the way we should have done it. We have been so much absorbed in the ritualistic aspect of the religion that we have forgotten its true spirit and its potentiality of being capable of weathering every storm and guiding and enlightening the human beings till the day of resurrection.The very name of the religion of Islam is enough to dispel and set at naught most of the above blames and accusations. It is a religion that implies submission to the will of Allah, the Creator and Nourisher of all and of everything and living being in the universe and Who neither has nor will ever have any equal or partner. This is what the Muslim faith in essence implies.The Quran being the mainspring of Islam, enjoins us to believe in all the Prophets and their scriptures alike and without any discrimination (2:177) (4:150). It does not sanction the use of force and coercive methods for taking its message across (2:256) (50:45). Rather it emphasises the extensive use of knowledge and reasoning when it says “O, Prophet invite to the Way of your Lord with wisdom and excellent preachings and argue with the people in the best manner†(16:125).The practical aspect of this admonition is manifest in the way Hazrat Ibrahim used to invite people to the Way of Allah (6:83). In regard to the people of other scriptures, the Quran advises us to take a start from the common elements of faith, while arguing with them, telling them that we have believed in what has been sent down to us as well as in that which has been sent down to you (29:46). Thus, even in the matter of preaching and conveying its message, the Quran takes every possible care to avoid the use of force and conflicts.The Quran considers all human beings irrespective of caste, colour, descent or creed as equal and on that account entitled to all such rights that could be basic to human dignity and needs at the relevant time but always subject to the limits set by Allah (49:13). It also emphasizes the need for abiding by the principle of equal opportunities, namely, that everyone shall be entitled to have equal opportunity to learn, develop, contribute and be accordingly rewarded (4:32).Jealousy also occurs when people are afraid of simply being equalled in certain respects. But when Islam already treats the people as equal in the most important aspects of life, there can be very little scope for breeding intolerance, bigotry and inclination towards discrimination among the true believers.Propensity towards violence, terrorism and oppression is created when people have bona fide conviction that they are not being treated justly or they are being discriminated against. Zamzam Water-Scientific Research Findings By Moinuddin Ahmed Water tastes different at different places, but Zamzam waters appeal has always been universal.Research by Tariq Hussain, RiyadhCome the Hajj season, and I am reminded of the wonders of Zamzam water. Let me go back to how it all started. In 1971, an Egyptian doctor wrote to the European press, a letter saying that Zamzam water was not fit for drinking purposes. I immediately thought that this was just a form of prejudice against the Muslims and that since his statement was based on the assumption that since the Kaaba was a shallow place (below sea level) and located in the centre of the city of Makkah, the waste water of the city collecting through the drains fell into the well holding the water. Fortunately, the news came to King Faisals ears who got extremely angry and decided to disprove the Egyptian doctors provocative statement. He immediately ordered the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources to investigate and send samples of Zamzam water to European laboratories for testing the portability of the water. The ministry then instructed the Jeddah Power and Desalination Plants to carry out this task. It was here that I was employed as a desalting engineer (chemical engineer to produce drinking water from sea water). I was chosen to carry out this assignment. At this stage, I remember that I had no idea what the well holding the water looked like. I went to Makkah and reported to the authorities at the Kaaba explaining my purpose of visit. They deputed a man to give me whatever help was required. When we reached the well, it was hard for me to believe that a pool of water, more like a small pond, about 18 by 14 feet, was the well that supplied millions of gallons of water every year to Hajis ever since it came into existence at the time of Hazrat Ibrahim (Pbuh), many, many centuries ago.I started my investigations and took the dimensions of the well. I asked the man to show me the depth of the well. First he took a shower and descended into the water. Then he straightened his body. I saw that the water level came up to just above his shoulders. His height was around five feet, eight inches. He then started moving from one corner to the other in the well (standing all the while since he was not allowed to dip his head into the water) in search of any inlet or pipeline inside the well to see from where the water came in. However, the man reported that he could not find any inlet or pipeline inside the well. I thought of another idea. The water could be withdrawn rapidly with the help of a big transfer pump which was installed at the well for the Zamzam water storage tanks.In this way, the water level would drop enabling us to locate the point of entry of the water. Surprisingly, nothing was observed during the pumping period, but I knew that this was the only method by which you could find the entrance of the water to the well. So I decided to repeat the process. But this time, I instructed the man to stand still at one place and carefully observe any unusual thing happening inside the well. After a while, he suddenly raised his hands and shouted, Alhamdullillah! I have found it. The sand is dancing beneath my feet as the water oozes out of the bed of the well. Then he moved around the well during the pumping period and noticed the same phenomenon everywhere in the well. Actually the flow of water into the well through the bed was equal at every point, thus keeping the level of the water steady. After I finished my observations I took the samples of the water for European laboratories to test. Before I left the Kaaba Sharief, I asked the authorities about the other wells around Makkah. I was told that these wells were mostly dry. When I reached my office in Jeddah, I reported my findings to my boss who listened with great interest, but made a very irrational comment that the Zamzam well could be internally connected to the Red Sea. How was it possible when Makkah is about 75 kms away from the sea and the wells located before the city usually remain dry? The results of the water samples tested by the European laboratories and the one we analysed in our own laboratory were found to be almost identical. Calcium and Magnesium in Zam Zam waterThe difference between Zamzam water and other water (city water) was in the quantity of calcium and magnesium salts. The content of these was slightly higher in Zamzam water. This may be why this water refreshes tired Hajis.Flouride in Zam Zam waterBut more significantly, the water contains fluorides that have an effective germicidal action. Moreover, the remarks of the European laboratories showed that the water was fit for drinking. Hence the statement made by the Egyptian doctor was proved false. When this was reported to King Faisal he was extremely pleased and ordered the contradiction of the report in the European Press. In a way, it was a blessing that this study was undertaken

We met with Salim ibn Abi Hafs who asked me: Oh Abu Ubaidullah, who is your Imam? I replied: My Imams are from the household of the prophet. He then stated: You have perished and so have I for both of us have heared Abu Jafar[as] saying: One who dies without recognizing his Imam, he dies a death of Jahiliyyah. Then I affirmed what he said. It was before that three or somewhat close to it(time span) when I entered upon Abu Abdullah[as] and God granted me knowledge. Then I said to Abu Abdullah[as]: Salim said such and such. He replied: Oh Abu Obaidah nobody here will die until he is succeeded by some one who does the same thing as his, and adopts the similar manners of his predecessor, and calls to the same thing as his predecessor did. Oh Abu Ubaidah, it was permitted that whatever was given to David was also provided for Sulaiman. Then he added: Oh Abu Ubaidah when the Qaem of the household of the prophet appears, he will rule according to rule of David and Solomon. b) Muhammad ibn Yahya-Ahmad ibn Muhammad-Muhammad ibn Sinaan-Abaan who reported: I heard Abu Abdullah[as] saying: The world will not fade away unless a person from us appears who will rule according to the rule of the family of David and he will not ask his house. He will give every one his right. c) Ahmad--Ahmad ibn Muhammad--Ibn Mahboob--Hisham ibn Salim--Ammar as Saabati who reported: I asked Abu Abdullah [as] : On what will you rule if you are made the rulers. He replied: By the rule of Allah and the rule of David. And if we are confronted by a situation which we cannot solve, Gabriel (Ruh al Quds) will reveal it to us. d) Muhammad ibn Ahmad--Muhammad ibn Khalid--Nazr ibn Suwaid--Yahya al Halabi--Imran ibn Oueiyn--Jaeed al Hamdani--Ali ibn al-Hussein[as] said: I asked him by which law will you rule? He replied: By the rule of God, by the rule of David, and by the rule of the Prophet Muhammad[saw] and by the revealation of Gabriel. 2)Mahdi Al-Muntazar will speak in Hebrew: Reported to us Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Saeed al Uqdah who said: Narrated to us Ali ibn al-Hasan at-Taymali who said: narrated to us al-Hasan and Muhammad the sons of Ali ibnu Yusuf, from Sadaan ibnu Muslim, from rajaal, from alMufadhaal ibn Umar who said: Abu Abdullah[as] reported: When the Imam Mahdi calls out, he will supplicate to God in Hebrew.[ Shiite source: Al-Ghaybaa of an Numani, p.326] 3)The Jews will be the followers of Imam Mahdi: Sheikh alMufeed has reported in his Al-Irshaad from alMufadhaal ibnu Umar that Imam Abu Abdullah[as] has reported: There will appear along with Imam Mahdi in Kufa, 27 people from the tribe of Moses, and seven from the people of the cave, and Yushegh ibn Nun, and Sulaiman, and Abu Dujjana al-Ansari, and Miqdad, and Malik Usthur who all be his(imam Mahdis helpers). [Al-Irshaad of al-mufeed at Tusi p.402] And with this we summarize that the Mahdi of the Shiites: ---Will rule according to the system of the family of David, and by a new Quran that is unavailable in our hands. And if someone asks where is the Laws of David, he will find the answer to be the Talmud without any doubt. And for this reason the Mahdi of the Rafidhis will take an oath on a new book as it is stated by an-Numani in his work al-Ghayba, p.107: Abu Jafar[as] said: By God, as if I am seeing him between the Rukn and Maqaam taking an oath of allegiance with a new order, with a new book, and a new leadership from the heavens. ---His language will be Hebrew ---His followers will be of the Jews, for he is the king of the Jews and he himself is the Dajjal or the Jewish Anti Christ about whom the Prophet has described. More strong Proofs that show Mahdi of the Shiites is the Jewish Dajjal: ---When the Dajjal appears the Diaspora of the Jews will flock and gather in Jewish holy city of Jerusalem. Similarly when the Mahdi of the Shiites appear , all the Shiites any where will flock to him and gather in the Shiite holy city of Kufa. ---When the Dajjal appears the dead Jews will be resurrected from their graves by him and they would join the ranks of the Dajjal. At times of distress the Messenger of Allah (saw may the peace & blessings of Allah be upon him) would say:
"Laa ilaa ha il lal laah al-a'theem al-ha' leem, laa ilaa ha il lal laah rabbul arshil-atheem, laa ilaa ha il lal laah rab bus-sa maa waa ti wa rab bul-ardi wa rab bul-arshil-kareem" (Bukhari and Muslim)
The English meaning is: There is no ilah (God) except Allah the Magnificent, The Forbearing. There is no ilah except Allah, Lord of the Magnificent Throne. There is no ilah except Allah Lord of the Heavens, Lord of the Earth, and Lord of the Noble Throne.
It is reported of the Prophet (SAW) that if something distressed him he would say:
"Ya hayyu ya qay yoom, bi-rah matika as tagheeth" (At Tirmidhi)
The English meaning is: O' Ever Living, O Sustainer, in your Mercy I plead for rescue (help, aid, assistance).
Abu Bakr (RA may Allah be pleased with him) stated that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said "The supplications of the distressed are:
"Allah humma ra'hma taka ar joo, fa laa ta kil nee ilaa naf see tar fa ta ayn, wa as lih lee sha nee kul lah, laa ilaa ha il laa ant" (Abu Dawud)
The English meaning is: O' my Allah it is your Mercy that I beseech, so do not entrust me to myself for even a twinkle of an eye, and correct for me all my affairs, there is no ilah other than You.
The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said to Asma bint Umaysin (ra): "Shall I not teach you a few words which you can say when you are distressed - or at the time of distress -
"Allah Allah rab bee laa ush riku bihi shay an" (Abu Dawud)
The English meaning is: Allah, Allah my Lord I associate nothing with Him.
The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: "The petition of Thin-Noon (Jonah) which he petitioned was when he was inside the whale:
"Laa ilaa ha il laa an ta, sub ha naka in nee kun tu minath-thaa limeen" (At-Tirmithi)
The English meaning is: There is no ilah except You, Glorified are Thee, I have been one of the unjust.
"No Muslim ever supplicated to Allah with this supplication in any matter at all, except that Allah answered his supplication" (At-Tirmithi)
It is reported of the Prophet (saw) that he said: "No pre-occupying concern, or sadness inflicts a slave of Allah whereupon they says:
"Allah humma in nee a'b duka, wabnu a'b dika, wabnu amatika, na siyatee biyadik, madhin fiyya hu'k muk, a'd lun fiyya qa dhaa uk, as aluka bikul lis min huwa lak, sam mayta bihi naf sak, aw an zal tahu fee kitabik, aw a'l lam tahu aha'dan min khal qik, aw is ta thar ta bihi fee i'l mil ghay bi in dak, an taj a'l al-qur aan rabee'a, qal bee, wa noora sad ree, wa jala'a hu'z nee, wa thahaba hammee" (Ahmad and Ibn Hibban)
The English meaning is: O' Allah! I am your bondservant, son of your bondsman, and son of your bondwoman. My forelock is in your Hands; your judgement is continuously being carried out upon me; your sentence upon me is just. I ask You with every name that is yours, with which You have named yourself, brought down in your book, taught to one of your creation, or have preferred for Yourself in the hidden knoweldge, with You; that You make the Quran the spring of my heart, and the light of my chest, and the despellation of my sadness, and deportation of my (preoccupying) concern.
...except that Allah would dispel his concern and his sadness, and would replace it with ease and relaxation for him." (Ahmad and Ibn Hibban)

accused of being anti-Semitist; however, it is not a problem when the Islamic values are made a subject of ridicule, because there the freedom of press comes to their immediate assistance,? said Amr Mousa, the Arab League Secretary-General.
