2006-10-20 Thread Khurram Jamal

Dear Sister,

Wa-Aliekum us-Salam Wa-rahmatullahi
Wa-barakatuho

Hope that you may be in the best of health & faith and
enjoying the blessing of Almighty Allah by performing the Ibadah in
the Holy month "Ramadan Mubarak". I am 100% agree with you. Its the dilemma
of all our muslim rothers and sisters. There is no concept in Islam such
friendship which promotes materialism and sexualism. Islam is holy religion and
it describes the proper , fair and right way for men and women. The Marriage
(Nikkah System) is a blessings of Almighty Allah. There is concept of
Muharram wa Ghair-Muharram in our shariah. For its
detail please read the translation of
Sura-tun-Nissa.

So i request to all Muslim
brothers and sisters that please leave this habit and don,t waste your time
in this un-usefull and sin-full thing. Try to Take / Give time to learn
Deen-e-Islam.

May Allah bless us Hidayat and
strong faith (Ameen)

Jazaka Allah

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] A Press Release from FRC

2006-10-20 Thread ko_linn_yu

Press Release on the Allegations against Rohingya Community

All of the first, we would like to point out some allegations
against Rohingya community that made by the Burmese ruling junta and
their thugs. Briefly those are as: -
• Rohingyas are illegal Bengali migrants that are from
Chittagong region of Bangladesh.
• Rohingyas are neither the ethnic minority of Arakan nor the
citizen of Burma.
• Rohingyas are terrorism keeps links with Al-Qaeda and
Taliban.
• Rohingyas are separatists and religiously Islamic extremists
that work together with Jamaat Al-Islamiah from Bangladesh and
Pakistan, and etc..

Some politicians from Buddhist community in Arakan also use the
roles as they are imagined a copy of junta. Even many innocent
people from Buddhist communities in both Arakan and Burma were
taught the above anti-Rohingya propagandas and sending many
misinformations by using the media under their control. As a result
most of the people believe the Rohingyas as non-Burmese and a head-
ache for all the people in the state.

Now again, the chief convener of "Islamic Society of North America"
Mr. Hajji U Aye Lwin wrote in the paper on their 43rd anniversary,
under the topic of "Building a culture of Peace – Myanmar
Experience" as:-

Only the small portion of Muslims in Burma advocate armed struggle,
and few actively look for international assistance. Even fewer favor
links with extremist pan-Islamic organizations. Indeed, some
Rohingya insurgent groups have been at pains to refute suggestions
that they are in any way associated with radical movements of this
kind. Over the past decade, however, it appears that the Bangladesh-
based Rohingya Solidarity Organization (RSO) has developed
connections with Muslim extremist organization in Bangladesh,
Pakistan and possibly even the Middle East.
In public speeches, bin Labin has referred to the massacre of
Muslims in Burma and in 2001 he openly praised his supporters there,
in what was seen as an oblique reference to the RSO. Also, notebooks
and videotapes discovered in Afghanistan by the US led coalition
referred to the struggle in Burma, and reportedly listed Burma among
those countries in which Bin Ladin had sympathizers. According to
Time magazine, Taliban and al-Qaeda members escaping from
Afghanistan have sought refuge among Islamic extremists (including
RSO) in Bangladesh. There have also been claims that the RSO has
established some kind of link with the al-Qaeda associated terrorist
group, Jemmah Islamiyah, in Southeast Asia.

We don't know what his intention is and why he wrote here like this
but can say it is not necessary. Although he should be realized how
does the world taking care on what the Burmese junta claims against
Rohingyas. All the junta's acidities are to be considered as they
are likely to show the United State if she is co-operating with it
on the war against terror. And the next reason may be to get an
opportunity from the world on eliminating the Rohingya from Burmese
soil.

The history is witnesses that the Rohingyas are the original
inhabitants of Arakan and whatsoever the junta claims against them
are ignored by the world communities including the China, United
State and European Community.

Indeed the junta is among one of the ten most oppressive governments
in the earth and the Rohingya is the only community in the world
that having under the defenseless suffering of the junta's inhuman
violations.

We believe that the said SPDC and their thugs were unaware to the
declarations of State Department of the United State and other UN
bodies on this issue.

We would like to point out that Rohingyas are denied the citizenship
right in their own territory since 1982 which is also to be realized
as it is even denied the security issue of this people. Whenever the
government of a nation behaves irresponsible to the safeguard of
lives and properties of a person or a community then the self
protection is essential for them. Even though the self brutal regime
is offending the systematic human right violations of all levels in
the Rohingya territory means the Rohingya needs self-defense to
survive their own generations. In this situation, if the Rohingya
looks for international sympathizers for any assistance no one cry
as it is unjustified.

We also like Mr. Hajji- Aye Lwin to recollect the massacres on
Muslims in Prom, Mandalay, Taung Gnu, Bago, Yangon and Taung Gyi
since later 1988 in various forms. It is the true that all those are
happening to the Muslim communities throughout the country in every
hour, everyday, every month and every year. If all these prevalence
are like to say accidences then we like to remind the booklet in
which is fully written anti-Islamic propagandas with many abusive
words to our holy Prophet (Peace be upon him) and distributed it
door to door on all over the Buddhism.

The intension of the said Rohingya organization is to

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] A British Teacher Finds Islam in Ramadan

A British Teacher Finds Islam in Ramadan http://www.islamonline.net/servlet/Satellite?c=Article_C&cid=1159951551633&pagename=Zone-English-Discover_Islam%2FDIELayout By  Idris TawfiqIdris TawfiqWe can all look back at memorable times in our lives. People and places can have a special significance for us and we need to look back, from time to time, to see how the hand of Allah has been at work in our lives, even though we did not notice. We are often too busy to see the pattern which our life has taken and which has led us to where we are today. By reflecting on what has been, we can learn to be grateful and learn to see all things as part of Almighty
Allah's eternal plan for us. I look back at my first Ramadan as a Muslim and ponder on all that has happened in my own life since then. That first Ramadan was very special. Before talking about that, though, I need to say something about the two Ramadans before it. I was Head of Religious Education in a Boys' School in South London and it was my responsibility to teach the pupils about the world's different religions. In English schools the pupils learn information about the six major world faiths: Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Islam, Sikhism and Hinduism, although no preference is given to any. My classroom was the only room in the school with a fitted carpet and a washbasin, essential for the prayers. Whilst providing information, it is supposed to be a way of encouraging tolerance and understanding in an increasingly multi-cultural world. It is one way, if handled sensitively, of counter-balancing the wrong ideas about Islam which British people get by the stories they see on the television news. I had already visited Egypt and seen for myself how sweet and gentle Muslims can be. Now, though, I had to teach about Islam. Since I was not Muslim, reading about Islam was one of the
ways I prepared for my lessons, learning as much myself as I would teach the pupils. In schools in the UK, as in many non-Muslim nations, there is usually no allowance made for pupils of any religion who wish to pray. Many of the boys in this school where I taught were Muslim, and many of them were from the Arab world. Just before the first Ramadan I was at the school, the pupils approached me and asked if they could use my classroom to pray, even though they knew I was not Muslim. Allah works in very extraordinary ways, using the simple things of life to work marvels in our lives. My classroom was the only room in the school with a fitted carpet and a washbasin, essential for the prayers, so it was my
classroom that was to be used. I agreed to their request, but the head teacher asked that a teacher be present to supervise the pupils. So, for the whole of Ramadan I sat at the back of the classroom every lunchtime, while the boys prayed the noon prayer and, on Fridays, the Friday congregational prayer. By the end of that Ramadan I knew how Muslims prayed and I could recite the prayers to myself, even though I didn't know what they meant. After Ramadan we kept using the classroom at lunchtime for prayers, and this continued all year. The following Ramadan, while still not a Muslim, I fasted along with the pupils, to show my solidarity with them. Not long after that, Al-hamdu lillah , I embraced Islam. But that is another story. The example of the students had led me to become Muslim.
I then joined the pupils each day for prayers, the newest Muslim and the least knowledgeable of all. That evening of my first Ramadan as a Muslim was a very special evening that I will never forget. My first Ramadan as a Muslim, then, was to be very special. At the end of the holy month the pupils and I organized a special iftar meal for ourselves. Iftar is quite literally the breakfast, when the fast is broken. To
celebrate the blessed night of Laylat Al-Qadr, when Prophet Muhammad is received the first revelation of the holy Qur'an, the boys stayed behind after school. During the time between the end of lessons and the Call to Prayer we watched a film about the life of the Prophet. We then prayed the sunset prayer together, with the oldest boy leading the prayers and reciting the holy Qur'an in a very beautiful voice. As the sun was setting, gathered together in that simple classroom, it was as though an angel came down to visit us. After prayers we had an iftar party. Everyone had brought some food or drink, however little or how lavish, to share with the others and we had a splendid meal. Although this took place after the events of September 11, 2001 when many in Britain were deeply suspicious about Islam and Muslims, many of the non-Muslim teachers came to congratulate us and to wish us a happy Ramadan. The head teacher had to be in a meeting, but he took some dates with him to eat at the time we were going to break the fast. The headmaster had learned from us that the Prophet used to break the fast during Ramadan by ea

Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and
blessings be upon His Messenger. Dear brother in Islam,
we commend your eagerness to become well acquainted with Islam and
its teachings, which is the way Allah has chosen for the welfare of
His servants. As regards your question, we would like to say
that basically watching films, plays and artistic works is
permissible as long as they do not present what is contrary to
Islamic teachings. Art that provokes vices and temptation is
prohibited. It is permissible to watch films that uphold
virtue, morality and humane principles while maintaining the rule of
lowering gazes. Islam does not go against beautiful art. On the
contrary, it always encourages art that agree with pure humane
nature. Art is an effective tool which could be placed at the head
of the good deeds in our world only if it is perfectly used. That is
why Muslims should not ignore this field, leaving it to enemies of
religion and humanity. It becomes incumbent upon all Muslim
intelligentsia to make use of what Allah endows them with in
reforming society. We greatly need, through films or serials, to
remind the new generation about the heroic lives of Muslim reformers
and scholars. Moreover, society is in great need to present good
morals, history of Islam, and to provide solutions for its problems
through works of art that strongly affect different classes in
society. Focusing more on the question, the late Sheikh
Ahmad Ash-Sharabaasi, a prominent Azharite scholar says:
"Movie, unlike theatrical works, depends more on pictures.
According to actors, acting aims at analyzing life experiences. It
depicts faults as something to be avoided and highly praises virtue
and calls people to adhere to it. It exposes lessons and experiences
in a way that makes the message presented indirectly, through
inspiration. As long as acting, either cinematic or theatrical,
achieves this aim, presents morality and good taste, does not reveal
private parts or provokes sexual instincts , it is deemed lawful as
religion does not prohibit this kind of acting. However, it
is prohibited to watch x-rated movies or plays, as well as any form
of acting that attacks religion and virtue, encourages vices, and
presents what is prohibited, for this kind of acting spreads evil
and corruption. This is based on the juristic rule that what leads
to something prohibited is in itself prohibited, and we are ordered
to block all channels of evil. Concerning movie in
particular, Al-Azhar scholars consider it a double-edged weapon, as
some people use it in proper way to benefit the whole nation,
upholding religion and good manners, while others misuse it, by
encouraging c

Iran's Ahmadinejad Bonds With Rabbis In NYC
(CBS)

NEW YORK Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad railed against
"Zionists" during a meeting with rabbis who agreed with him during a
strange meeting in New York City on Thursday.

CBS affiliate WCBS-TV gained exclusive access to the event, held at
the Intercontinental Hotel in Manhattan.

"They have no respect for the lives and dignity of the Jews,"
Ahmadinejad said through a translator. "If they could they would
destroy 6 billion people in the world.

"But their time is ending, God willing," he said.

The rabbis, who believe Israel's founding violated God's will, had
praise for the controversial Iranian leader.

"God should give you long life and health and strength and not to be
intimidated by the attacks of Zionism, that is attacking you as being
anti-Semitic, which is a pure ploy of Zionism to intimidate people,"
said Rabbi Yisroel David Weiss of United Jews Against Zionism. "They
shouldn't speak up against their illegitimate state."

Ahmadinejad again questioned the existence of the Holocaust. The
rabbis, some of whom lost relatives in the war, suggested it was all a
Zionist conspiracy.

New York City Jewish groups told WCBS-TV the meeting was a travesty.

When told by WCBS-TV that mainstream Jewish groups were calling the
meeting an obscenity and a charade because these men represent
nothing, Ahmadinejad replied, "Why are you asking this question from
me? You represent Jews?"

long run been an advantage to Islam in as much as more people than
ever are seeking information about Islam

Here Hoffman discusses with Islam Online his views and
concerns about various intellectual and practical problematic contexts of
both the common grounds and the differences between the East and the West
especially after September eleventh. He tries to reassert the
opportunities and challenges of Islam and Muslims in the western
societies, drawing the difference between these western societies.

  * Can we consider September
eleventh events as a turning point and a beginning of another era? And do
you think that there is a suitable Islamic project, dealing with the
western mentality, by which we can confront the ramification of such
  events?
I don’t believe really that eleventh of September was
such a monumental change. It was very important for the American mentality
just like Pearl Harbor have been for instance. In Germany we had
monumental events like the end of World War II which was an enormous
catastrophe. The Japanese had events like the atomic attacks and yet after
some time the world gets back to normal. I also think that this will be
the fate of eleventh of September; it will be an important date in the
history books, but the world will settle down to normal and as far as
Islam is concerned eleventh of September has in the long run been an
advantage to Islam in as much as more people than ever are seeking
information about Islam, all books on Islam were sold out within 14 days.
In Germany, a translation of the Quran which I edited sold 40,000 times
within a year which goes to show that the shock effect can translate into
more knowledge about Islam in the long run and if we move out of the
present hysteria, we may see more appreciation of Islam after all.

  * But at least those events
have had serious effects on Muslims, how do you evaluate these
  effects?

D'awa can not be centralized.
Effective D'awa can only be carried out locally because if somebody
speaks for Islam with a foreign accent, Islam will automatically be
treated as a foreign thing, not as a universal thing.

Of course I'm living these effects. I encounter
suspicion, when you are law abiding, even then you are suspected of being
a potential terrorist. When you travel to the United States, you are being
treated as never as before; you have to wait for hours for your suitcase
and you are obviously under suspicion. But the Muslims in America
reasserted their approach; they even organized after eleventh of September
the first central meeting of Muslims in America, the so called ISNA
(Islamic Society of North America) meeting. They organized that for the
first time in Washington to make a point and 42000 Muslims came to
Washington, most of them very young and most of the very young women
wearing Hijab.  That was the answer of the Muslims; not to

Re: Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Devotion in Salaat

2006-10-20 Thread mamarghoob

AssalaamuAlaikum,

Both brothers, Mohammad Shafi and Taher, are saying the same with different _expression_. My comments are:

Yes, my mind wanders during Salah.

Yes, I feel guilty and ask my Rab to forgive me with the supplication that I have obeyed Him bodily.

I long for Salah fully devoted to Him and pray for it.

In my nawafil, I recite what I understand.

Trying to learn Quranic Arabic and continue to concentrate what the Imam is reciting.

At the end of the Salah try to reflect what had I listened and ask Him for the guidance.

Many a times my mind wanders and does not follow the above but again I knock at His door.

We seek His guidance, may Allah(SWT) guide us all.

Marghoob.

Islamicity

As salaam aly kum. I agree with this article in the sense that a beleivers mind will wander when perfroming salaat and my mind does wander.
I disagree with the claim that the iman is superficial, the author as an individual does not have the right to say that. Only Allah (SWT) is entitled to judge on that basis.
Furthermore Allah (SWT) judges mankinds intentions and all prayers are thus judged on intentions.
I would welcome postive suggestions from other members on ideas to implement to ensure the mind does not wander whilst in salaat state.
I cannot remember exactly a syaing but it goes like this... one of the holy prophets (SAW)s ashab was asked "how do you perform salaat he replied I close my eyes and think of the holy kaaba in front of me, and the angel of death standing there also." Please feel free to quote the exact quote.
I personally blame satan as he does whisper in beleiving peoples minds, remember the the holy quran when Allah (SWT) outcast him out and he (iblees) said he will lead all beleivers astray and will come to them from all directions.

Your prayers are requested for me : May Allah (SWT) guide me and forgive me if I have said anything to offend.

Subject: Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Devotion in Salaat

In the Name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful

In Verse 2.238, the Qur'aan directs the believers to stand in Salaat, completely in devotion to Allah, and to Allah alone. It directs them therein, moreover, to protect all their prayers (Salawaat) in like manner.

Do we, as Muslims, follow those divine directions? The sad fact is: most of us do not! Many of us do go through the ritual of Salaat, but our minds wander. They dwell on matters pertaining to our businesses, workplaces, neighbours, relatives, families - in short, to any sort of worldly affair. Our thoughts seldom remain devoted to Allah.

And to make the matter worse, we have come to believe that such straying of thoughts, while offering Salaat, is a normal thing! But what does the Qur'aan say? It forebodes sorrow, distress or trouble for those who are negligent/inattenti ve in their prayers!! [107.4,5]

And if we do believe in the Qur'aan - as we vehemently say we do - we are doomed to suffer in terms of those Verses in Surah 107. And do we need any proof that we are suffering, in this very worldly life? Hardly. Our position, as a community, in the polity of nations is despicable, as any one can see. We have become the favourite whipping boys for any Tom, Dick or Harry everyshere in the world.

It is grievously wrong on our part therefore to treat the straying of our thoughts as something normal. We've got to do something about it. What do we do?

First and foremost, we stop thinking that it is normal for our thoughts to wander while in a ritual Salaat.

Second, we realise that our thoughts wander because our Faith is superficial. The Faith has not gone deep into our hearts. We're hardly interested in studying the Qur'aan, the Creator's Manual for the right conduct of our worldly lives. We've to shed our indifference to this most important Book that every human being is duty-bound to read and study.

Third, we've to shorten our Salaat, till at least the Faith really enters our hearts. Allah would look to the quality, rather than to the quantity, of our prayers. The longer the duration of the prayers, the greater would be the tendency of our minds to wander. Our Wise Lord has therefore prescribed only short ritual prayers after long intervals of day time.

Another thing, that has contributed to our undoing, is our blatant disregard to the divine edicts:

"...and be attentive at every place of worship and invoke Him alone to make the Religion exclusive for Him..." [7.29]

"And the Masaajid are for Allah Alone; so invoke not anyone with Allah." [72.18]

We have to ponder deeply on these edicts. Aren't most of us

Prophet Muhammad (s) granted a Charter of Privileges to the monks of St. Catherine Monastery in Mt. Sinai. It consisted of several clauses covering all aspects of human rights including such topics as the protection of Christians, freedom of worship and movement, freedom to appoint their own judges and to own and maintain their property, exemption from military service, and the right to protection in war. An English translation of that document is presented here: This is a message from Muhammad ibn Abdullah, as a covenant to those who adopt Christianity, near and far, we are with them. Verily I, the servants, the helpers, and my

Neither are their judges to be removed from their jobs nor their monks from their monasteries. No one is to destroy a house of their religion, to damage it, or to carry anything from it to the Muslims' houses. Should anyone take any of these, he would spoil God's covenant and disobey His Prophet. Verily, they are my allies and have my secure charter against all that they hate. No one is to force them to travel or to oblige them to fight. The Muslims are to fight for them. If a female Christian is married to a Muslim, it is not to take place without her approval. She is not to be prevented from visiting her church to pray. Their churches are to be respected. They are neither to be prevented from repairing them nor the sacredness of their covenants.

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] =?windows-1252?Q?Which_is_better,_reading_Qur'aan_together_or_individually??=

2006-10-20 Thread Muhammad Abdul-Rahman
-
Online Questions And Answers about Islam and Muslims: http://islammuslims.com

46088: Which is better, reading Qur'aan together or individually?

Question:

What is the manner in which Jibreel review the Qur'aan with the Prophet (peace
and blessings of Allaah be upon him) in Ramadaan? Does that indicate that it is
better to study the Qur'aan together rather than individually? Is it better to
do that at night rather than during the day? We hope you can explain.

Answer:

Praise be to Allaah.

Shaykh Muhammad ibn `Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

Firstly:

With regard to how he reviewed it with him, I do not know how that was done.

Secondly:

With regard to whether it is mustahabb for people to gather to read Qur'aan
together or for each person to read it individually, that depends on the person
himself. If gathering with his brothers to study Qur'aan together will make him
more focused and help him to learn better, then gathering with others is
preferable, i.e., if gathering with others will make him have proper presence
of mind and be more focused on pondering the meanings of the Qur'aan, and allow
the opportunity to discuss the meanings, then that is better. But if it is the
opposite then reading it on his own is better.

Thirdly:

With regard to Jibreel reviewing the Qur'aan with the Prophet (peace and
blessings of Allaah be upon him), that was for the purpose of making sure that
the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) memorized it.

With regard to the third part of your question _ which is whether it is better
to do that at night rather than during the day _ the answer is yes, but a
person may need to do other things which means that he cannot study Qur'aan at
night, in which case he should study it more during the day.

So each person should look at what is best for him, because of the general
meaning of the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon
him): "Strive to do that which will benefit you." So whatever is more
beneficial for you, so long as it is not forbidden according to sharee'ah, is
best.
