Assalaamu alaykum Warahamatulahi Wabarakaatahu! Love, Fear and Hope The Three Essential Ingredients for Eeman One of the most beautiful things about the concept of worship in Islaam is the truly unique way in which it incorporates the feeling of love, fear and hope within the hearts of the worshippers of Allah. Understanding how to combine these three qualities into the worship (ibaadah) of Allah is one of the most essential things that every Muslim must grasp, not least because every sect which has drifted from the Straight Path has strayed in the aspect of worship. The deviation of the other religions in this regard is clear for all to see: God is love! Jesus is love! say the Christians, denying the fact that Allah should be feared too. As for the Jews, their hearts were filled only with hope; hope that the Fire will never touch them, since they were the Promised People. In Islaam however, no worship is complete without the presence of all three qualities: love of Allah, hope in His Mercy and fear of His Punishment. Contemplate the opening Soorah of the Qur'aan - Soorah al-Faatihah - and you will see this for yourself. Aayah 1: All praise [and thanks] is for Allah, Rabb of all the worlds. In this opening aayah (verse) of the Qur'aan, we have LOVE of Allah and every time we recite this aayah we are testifying to our love for Allah. How is that you ask? It is because in the aayah, we are acknowledging that Allah is our Rabb and the Rabb of all the worlds. Rabb is usually translated as 'the Lord', but this translation does not do justification to this name of Allah and all the meanings this name carries. In reality, Rabb means that Allah is the Creator of everything; He sustains and nourishes everything; He gives life and Death; anything good that we have is from Him; everything is dependant on Him and nothing can happen unless He wills it. Furthermore, for the Muslims He - the Rabb - in the One who has guided us to the Truth and given us good morals and manners. Thus when we testify that Allah is our Rabb, then we are acknowledging that He is the One who has given us so many blessings - so many that if we try to enumerate His blessings, we would be unable to do so. So how could we not but LOVE Him? After all, we all love those who show kindness towards us or present us with gifts. And therefore the Messenger of Allah (salla-allahu alaihe wa-sallam) encouraged the exchange of gifts between Muslims because it helps to strengthen ties and develop love for one another. He (salla-allahu alaihe wa-sallam) said, Give gifts to one another, you will come to love one another.[1] So imagine the LOVE we should have for our Rabb who has given us everything: nice families, shelter, security, food, health and above all the Guidance of Islaam and the Sunnah. We should be overwhelming in our love for Him. That is why we praise Him and thank Him and say, All praise (and thanks) is for Allah, Rabbil-'aalameen. Aayah 2: The Rahmaan (Merciful) and the Raheem (Mercy-Giving) . In the first aayah of Soorah al-Faatihah, Allah mentioned He was the Rabb. In this aayah two more of His beautiful names are mentioned: ar-Rahmaan and ar-Raheem. Ar-Rahmaan means that He is the Most Merciful. Ar-Raheem means that He is the Giver of Mercy, in other words His actions are full of Mercy and He shows Mercy to His creation.[2] When we mention these two names of Allah, then we have HOPE. Since He is the One who is full of Mercy, and we hope He will forgive our mistakes and shortcomings. We should never loose hope, because Allah says in the Qur'aan, O My slaves, who have transgressed against themselves! Despair not of the Mercy of Allah, Verily Allah forgives all sins (except sins). Truly He is Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful [39: 53] The need to have FEAR in our worship is shown by the next aayah of Soorah al-Faatihah. Aayah 3: King/Master of the Day of Judgement. When we recite this aayah, we remind ourselves of the Day of Judgement - that awful Day, when all of humanity shall stand before Allah ... naked, uncircumcised and barefooted. People will appear drunk though they are not. On that Day, every person will stand before Allah and account for his sins, knowing that not even the smallest action which he did is hidden from Allah: So whosoever does good equal to the weight of an atom, shall see it. And whosoever does evil equal to the weight of an atom shall see it. [Soorah 99 : 7-8] So when we recite this third aayah of Soorah al-Faatihah, we remind ourselves of this Judgement and accountability and that should bring about in us a sense of fear - that maybe our evil actions will be too great and we will be responsible for

International Religious Freedom Reports, prepared by the US State Department, implicate Narender Modi's political party – the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its religious affiliates in systematic killings of Muslims and Christians and burning of their homes and businesses; year after year. Fortunately a broad spectrum of Indians in America, American academics, human rights organizations and members of the US Congress, like Betty McCollum (D- Minnesota) have come together to forge a coalition against genocide (CAG) and are pressing the State Department to reject this Avatar (re-incarnation) of Hitler. The Indian elite, empowered by recent economic successes, wish to piggy back on the US to superpower status. They wish to forge a new strategic alliance with the US that will facilitate the transfer of critical military technology, attract financial investments, open US markets to Indian businesses and enlist US' diplomatic support for Indian ascendance. Modi seeks to increase his influence in the US. He also wishes to increase fund raising from the rich Indian American community to finance his politics in India. It is vital to his cause that he has intimate access to the U.S. At the moment, Hindu nationalist cannot have both; Modi as a national leader and the US as vehicle to global power. As long as Modi is shunned by the US he is ineligible for national office. It is therefore essential for his supporters to purify his image, and they hope to do so by bullying the US government into allowing him entry in to the US. If he was received in the U.S., he will be projected in India as a leader of global stature. US law on international religious freedom (section 604) prohibits the State Department from allowing people who commit egregious violations from coming to the US. Modi is now enforcing a new law against religious conversions in Gujarat which primarily targets Christians. This single act of curbing religious consciousness triggers section 604 and alone makes him ineligible for a US visa. The US Commission on International Religious Freedoms has also asked the State department to deny Modi. The Bush administration has been excellent on this issue, so far. Do not generalize and accuse other muslims of what you hear from their enemies. The problem is that everyone wants someone else to take care of the problem instead of them. This organization would have existed and helped this many babies if they too had believed and blamed other organizations for not doing anything. Instead they themselves started doing this on their own. That's what people need to do instead putting the blame and responsibility on everyone (and every organization) instead of themselves. It was I who as you entered the room handed you a copy of the original Freedom Seder, which I wrote in 1969, and which bound together the freedom struggles of Blacks and Jews. And during Q A, it was I who asked you how as President you would deal with the peace-obstructing settlement policy of this and many previous Israeli governments. I asked that question because one of the advance speakers for your meeting, Congressman Roth of New Jersey, had just asserted that you believe the failure of the peace process has been solely the result of the absence of a Palestinian partner for peace. Solely the fault of the Palestinians? I thought. Surely he doesn't believe that! So I rose to say that hundreds of rabbis and hundreds of thousands of American Jews see Israeli settlement policy as obstacles to peace, and asked what as President you would do about it. Your answer cited the vigorous debate on these questions in Israel -- more vigorous than here; the recognition by most Israelis that for peace to unfold, there will have to be a shift in settlement policy; and your sense that most Israeli know that internal debate would be so wrenching that they want to know there is a partner for that decision before going through the debate. Though you avoided saying what you would do, I was satisfied with your answer -- then. I was especially ready to be satisfied because I knew that earlier, when you met with Jewish leaders in Cleveland, you had gone even further, saying: I sat down with the head of Israeli security forces and his view of the Palestinians was incredibly nuanced because he's dealing with these people every day. He was willing to say sometimes we make mistakes and if we are just pressing down on these folks constantly without giving them some prospects for hope, that's not good for our security situation. It would be profoundly important to have a President who understands that! Yet more recently, in your speech to AIPAC, there was no such language. And you slid so far into simply repeating official shibboleths like Jerusalem undivided that you had to correct yourself the next day. No one knows better than I that many of the official Jewish organizations would go ballistic to hear a presidential candidate bring such ideas to the fore in, say, a major speech about making peace across the whole region that Abraham, Hagar, and Sarah walked. And no one knows better than I that millions of American Jews , Christians, and Muslims want exactly that kind of honest talk and vigorous diplomacy. They would support any President who insisted on exactly the kind of broad pursuit of peace you have sometimes affirmed, and the changes in not only Palestinian, Syrian, and Iranian but also Israeli and American behavior it requires. I know some people who carry a strange mixture of cynicism and wish-fulfillment in their heads -- who think you can, will, and should say anything to calm folks like the AIPAC membership and thereby get elected, and later will work hard for a real peace. Ten Points Regarding the Manhaj of Ikhwaanul-Muslimeen The Muftee of Jeezaan, Shaykh Ahmad ibn Yahyaa an-Najmee From his book: Al-Fataawa al-Jaliyyah ‘anil-manaahij ad-Da’wiyyah (pgs 102-104) Translated by an-Nahj al-Waadih The noble Shaykh (hafidhahullaah) said: The definition of Ikhwaanul-Muslimeen is: they are those who follow and attach (themselves) to Hasan al-Banaa, and there are some observations upon their manhaj, the most important of which follow: 1) Carelessness and neglect in regards to Tawheed al-‘Ibaadah, which is the most important thing in Islaam, and the servant’s Islaam is not correct except by it. 2) Their silence and approval of the people being upon Shirk al-Akbar (major Shirk); from du’aa to other than Allaah, and circumambulation (tawaaf) of the graves, and swearing oaths to their inhabitants, and sacrificing by their names, and what is similar to that. 3) That verily the founder of this manhaj is soofee; he has a connection to the Soofiyyah; when he took the bay’ah from ‘Abdul-Wahhaab al-Hasaafee upon his Hasaafiyyah ash-Shaadhiliyyah Tareeqah (soofee order). 4) The presence of innovation amongst them, and their establishing worship by it, rather it is the basis of their manhaj. They attest that the Prophet (sallallahu alayhee wa salaam) attends their sittings of dhikr and forgives them for what has proceeded from their sins, in their saying: “The Ilaah sent prayers upon the noor [i.e. the Prophet] which appeared for the ‘aalameen (all that which exists), and out shined the sun and the moon, this is the beloved [i.e. the Prophet] attending with the beloved and has forgiven for all that which has passed and taken place.” 5) Their call to (establishing) the khilaafah, and this is a bid’ah, for verily the Messengers and those who followed them were not commanded except with the call to at-Tawheed. The Most High said: وَلَقَدْ بَعَثْنَا فِي كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ رَّسُولاً أَنِ اعْبُدُواْ اللّهَ وَاجْتَنِبُواْ الطَّاغُوتَ “And verily, We have sent among every Ummah a Messenger (proclaiming): Worship Allaah (Alone), and avoid at-Taaghoot (all false deities and objects of worship).” 6) The non-existence of al-walaa’ wal-baraa’ amongst them or its weakness. And they make that clear through their da’wah to closeness between [those upon] the Sunnah and the Shee’ah, and the saying of their founder: “We cooperate [with each other] in that which we agree upon, and we excuse each other in that which we disagree in.” 7) Their hatred for Ahlut-Tawheed, and the people [who traverse] the path of Salafiyyah, and their loathing of them and they make that plain in their statements regarding the country of Saudi Arabia, which was established upon at-Tawheed, and teaches at-Tawheed in its schools and in its institutions and universities; and from the murder of Jameel ar-Rahmaan al-Afghaanee because he was calling to at-Tawheed, and he was one who had schools in which he taught at-Tawheed. 8) Their scrutiny and pursuit of the mistakes of the rulers, and searching for their shortcomings, whether it is true or a lie, and spreading them amongst the inexperienced youth so as to cause them to hate and loathe them [the rulers] and to fill their hearts with hostility towards them. 9) The foul disgusting hizbiyyah (blind partisanship and bigotry) which they ascribe to. So they support and have closeness on account of this hizb (party), and show enmity and oppose on account of it. 10) Taking the bay’ah (oath of allegiance) to work for the Ikhwaanee manhaj with the ten conditions which its founder mentioned , and there are other observations to be made which it is possible that we take them later. An-Nahl (16):36 TN: These ten conditions or pillars of the bay’ah of Ikhwaanul-Muslimeen are mentioned in al-Banaa’s Majmoo’atur-Risaa’il (p.268), where he says: “O you brothers who are truthful! The pillars of our bay’ah are ten, so memorize and hold on to them: (1) Understanding (2) Sincerity (3) Action (4) al-Jihaad (5) self-sacrifice (6) Obedience (7) firmness and strength (8) Impartiality (9) Brotherhood (10) Trust. 'Uthman ibn 'Affan (radiAllahu anhu) said, Worrying about the dunya is a darkness in the heart, while worrying about the akhirah is a light in the heart.

Bismillah [IslamCity] After Many Years of Illiteracy, A Village in Pakistan Gets a School
Overview Jado Kalhoro, a small village of about 300 people, is located approximately 600 km north of Karachi, Pakistan. Some elders of the village maintain that almost two generations of their people have remained ignorant and illiterate resulting in poverty, bad hygienic conditions and social disintegration through petty disputes. Their economic condition has gone from bad to worse, as they are not making use of modern technology and methods to get ahead in their ancestral profession of farming. Understanding their problem, in 1992, after much appeal, the community finally received approval from the government to have a primary school built in their village. Because there were no educated people in the village, a teacher was hired from the nearest city which is located 25km away. After 3 years, the teacher requested transfer, which resulted in the school shutting down. The school remained closed for the next 13 years (from 1995 to 2008). Hidaya Foundation's Response In 2007, Hidaya Foundation (www.hidaya.org) expanded its Support a School Project and adopted six government primary schools in the Shikarpur District, including this school in Jado Kalhoro. When Hidaya took over the school, the building was damaged and one community member had taken the facility as a storage place for corn crops from his field. Hidaya's team faced two major challenges after adoption of this school: 1) Repairing the school building, which according to Hidaya's agreement with the district education department, is the responsibility of District Government.. 2) Get the school building freed from the community member unlawfully using it. With the blessings of Allah, persistence of Hidaya's team, and help from influential members in the community, the building was freed, not repaired yet but the school was restored to session on March 17, 2008. A local member of the village was appointed and trained by Hidaya's education team to serve as a teacher in the school to avoid the same problems of the past. Currently, 48 students (40 boys and 8 girls) are enrolled in the school. The villagers are extremely happy with the re-opening of the school in their village. Villagers, who have now taken part in the Parent Teacher Association formed by Hidaya, are very supportive of each and every activity related to the school, because Insha'Allah (God-Willing) this time it will stay open and change the destiny of their community. Each school Hidaya is re-opening has a story of its own.
