Chavez opposes arrest warrant for Bashir

DOHA, March 31 (Xinhua) – Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez here Tuesday
voiced objection to the arrest warrant of the International Criminal Court
(ICC) for Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir for alleged war crimes in Darfur.

Upon his arrival at the Doha International Airport to attend the 2nd
Arab-South American Summit scheduled for Tuesday, Chavez told reporters that
the ICC should be requested to prosecute former U.S. President George W. Bush
and Israeli President Shimon Peres, according to Spanish EFE news Agency.

Why (the ICC) not order the capture of Bush? Why not order the arrest of
the president of Israel?” he was quoted as asking.

Leaders of the 22-member Arab League who held a summit on Monday passed a
communiqué on rejecting the ICC’s arrest warrant for Bashir.

Chavez said the ICC “has no power to make a decision against a sitting
president, but does so because it is an African country, the third world,” said
Chavez, whose country is a signatory to the ICC.

The ICC has requested all its signatory members to arrest Bashir.

The Second Summit of Arab-South American countries will be held in the
afternoon, with the participation of leaders and senior officials from 12 South
American countries and 22 Arab states, plus delegates from the Arab League.

Bismillah [IslamCity] Al-Azhar Hails First Female Interpretation of the Quran

2009-04-07 Thread S A Hannan
Dear sirs,

Assalamu Alaikum. This is a very welcome step. Muslims would benefit a
lot if more women scholars emerge among us in all fields of Islamic
sciences apart from general sciences.

Shah Abdul Hannan
Al-Azhar Hails First Female Interpretation of the Quran

25/01/2009
Asharq Al-Awsat

Cairo, Asharq Al-Awsat- Al-Azhar Scholars have welcomed the
publication of the first Interpretation of the Quran [tafsir] written
by a woman, saying that it confirms the equality between men and women
in Islam.

Kariman Hamzah, the author of this Quranic interpretation and a former
presenter of an Islamic television program in Egypt, told Asharq Al-
Awsat that the Interpretation is the culmination of her 35 years
working in the media. The Islamic Research Academy, the highest
authority at the Al Azhar University, approved the printing and
distribution of the first Quranic interpretation written by a woman,
and which will appear in local bookstores soon.

Sheik Mohamed Al Rawi, head of the Quranic Interpretation Committee of
the Islamic Research Academy stated to Asharq Al-Awsat that any work
dealing with the Holy Quran must be subject to careful review, and is
not approved until it is examined letter by letter and word by word,
and has to be approved by all the scholar in the field of Quranic
studies and Quranic interpretation. Therefore Muslims can be assured
of the authorship of any interpretation approved by the Islamic
Research Academy, and need not hesitate in accepting what has been
written.

Sheik Abdul-Zaher Abu Ghazala, Director of the Islamic Research
Academy's Research, Translation and Publication department revealed to
Asharq Al-Awsat that the academy had approved a 20-part Quranic
Interpretation by Kariman Hamzah, and that there were no
inconsistencies between this Quranic interpretation and Islamic
Shariaa Law. He confirmed that Kariman Hamzah's Quranic Interpretation
was carefully reviewed before it was granted approval.

Sheik Abu Ghazala added that Kariman Hamzah's interpretation of the
Quran is fully consistent with previous Quranic interpretations, and
that it contained no inconsistencies or contradictions with Islamic
Shariaa Law. He denied that this is a new Quranic interpretation
providing a female point of view, emphasizing that this interpretation
addresses men, women, the youth, and children, just as the Quran
itself speaks to all. Therefore there is no such thing as a male
interpretation or a female interpretation of the Quran; he said
that what is important for us is that the interpretation is
consistent with the Quran itself, and does not contradict Islamic
Law.

Sheik Abu Ghazala concluded by revealing that the Islamic Research
Academy had recently approved a number of Quranic interpretations by
women including one written by a pediatrician Dr. Fatin Al Faliki, and
one by Mrs. Fawqiyah Ibrahim of Alexandria, Egypt.

Sheik Mohamed Al Birri of Al Azhar University welcomed Kariman
Hamzah's Quranic Interpretation, saying that it shows the awakening of
Muslim women, and their emulation of the female Companions [of the
Prophet]. He added that the Quran makes equal between men and women in
every way, including religious education, as well as the task of
spreading the message of Islam.

Dr. Mustafa Al Shakaa, a member of the Islamic Research Academy of the
Al Azhar University said that Al Azhar's approval of Kariman Hamzah's
interpretation shows the equality between men and women in Islam, and
confirms the women's right to religious education in Islam is the same
as a man's. He added that Islamic Shariaa Law gives Muslim women the
right to be religiously educated and make religious decisions in the
same way that the female Companions [of the Prophet] did in the time
of the Prophet (PBUH), and this refutes the rumors and slander which
describe the Islamic religion as a religion that restricts the freedom
of women, at the fore-front of this a woman's right to education.

The author of the first Quranic Interpretation to be written by a
woman, Kariman Hamzah, informed Asharq Al-Awsat that this work is the
culmination of 35 years of work whether it was presenting religious
programs on television, or writing Islamic articles in newspaper or
magazines, and which allowed her to witness a large proportion of
Islamic culture. She emphasized that the object of this undertaking
[of writing a Quranic Interpretation] was to serve Islam and spread
its message.

Kariman Hamzah said that although she is not a graduate or Al Azhar,
or another religious institute, her love for spreading the message of
Islam has called her to enter this field [of Quranic interpretation].
She said that in writing her Quranic Interpretation she relied upon
simplicity and clarity in the explanations and interpretations, and an
easy and accessible language, in order for it to be understood by both
the young and the old. Her Quranic interpretation is entitled A Clear

Bismillah [IslamCity] The true Muslim is tolerant towards his neighbor and likes for his neighbor what he likes for himself

2009-04-07 Thread The Ideal Muslim

The Ideal Muslim: Characteristics of the Ideal Muslim According to the Qur’an
and the Sunnah

The IDEAL MUSLIM
The True Islamic Personality of the Muslim Man
as Defined in the Qur'an and Sunnah

By  Dr. Muhammad ‘Ali Al-Hashimi
Translated by Nasiruddin Al-Khattab and Revised by Ibrahim M. Kunna and Abu Aya
Sulaiman Abdus-Sabur
Copyright and published by the International Islâmic Publishing House (IIPH),
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 1999.

The Ideal Muslim  is a man of the highest moral character. In his relationship
with his Rabb, himself, family, parents, relatives, friends and the community
at large, he has a most excellent example in the prophet of Islam (pbuh). His
idealism is further strengthened by the characters of the first generations of
Muslims who excelled in all the various fields of human endeavor. He is
reassured by the teachings of Islam that he also can reach these noble heights
by working to improve his character daily.

Chapter 7: The Muslim and His Neighbors

The true Muslim is tolerant towards his neighbor

It comes as no surprise, then, that the Muslim who is truly guided by his faith
is tolerant towards his neighbor, and is humble, easy-going and kind in his
dealings with him. He does not stop him from using and enjoying his home, as
the Prophet  (s.a.w.s.) said:

“No-one should prevent his neighbor from fastening a piece of wood to his
wall.”  (Bukhari and Muslim)

He likes for his neighbor what he likes for himself

The Muslim who is truly guided by his religion is soft-hearted and alert, and
knows how to communicate well. He is sensitive towards his neighbor, sharing
his joy and commiserating him in his sorrow. He likes for him what he likes for
himself, following the teaching of the Prophet (s.a.w.s.):

“None of you truly believes until he likes for his brother what he likes for
himself.” (Bukhari and Muslim)

In a report given by Muslim from Anas (r.a.), the Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said: “By
the One in Whose hand is my soul, no servant truly believes until he likes for
his neighbor (or he said: his brother) what he likes for himself.”

The true Muslim does not forget to take care of his neighbors who may be
affected by the smell of cooking or barbecues coming from his house, which may
provoke feelings of hunger, especially if they are poor and cannot afford much
food. There may be small children, orphans, widows or elderly among them. The
true Muslim is always alert to the spirit of social responsibility which the
Prophet (s.a.w.s.) instilled in the Muslims in the words he spoke to Abu Dharr
(r.a.):

“O Abu Dharr (r.a.), if you cook some broth, add extra water to it, and take
care of your neighbor.” (Muslim) According to another report he said, “If you
cook some broth, add extra water to it, then think of the families in your
neighborhood and send some of it to them.” (Muslim)

The Muslim’s conscience will not let him ignore his neighbor’s poverty and
difficulty while he is living a life of ease and plenty. How can he bear to see
the difference between himself and his neighbor, when the words of the Prophet
(s.a.w.s.) are ringing in his ears?

“He does not believe in me, who eats his fill while his neighbor beside him is
hungry, and he knows about it.”  [2]

“He is not a believer, who eats his fill while his neighbor is hungry.”  [3]

[2] Reported by al-Tabarani and al-Bazzar, with a hasan isnad.

[3] Reported by al-Tabarani and Abu Ya‘la; the men in its isnad are trustworthy
(thiqat.).

Bismillah [IslamCity] about the one finger......

have this photo blown-up
and look at details of the handshake

Recently I posted a message/article concerning Arab States
who flirt with Israel or who simply and openly
have recognised that criminal-state.

The same above picture was used as an illustration to the subject
and I have commented that
Livni is not even looking in the eye the the Qatari-Foreign-Minister

After I have sended that message I looked closer at the picture
only to notice that Livni is not even shaking the hand ,
but simply giving him one finger

Although it is not the middle-finger
it is still only one finger.

So Arab-Regimes be warned !!

If and when you decide to shake hands with Israel
you get only one finger

Israel ultimately does not want hand-shakes
because it lead to Peace and this is not Israel's strategy
because Peace means consessions and conssessions means
giving back any stolen or occupied land.

So keek your hand for yourselves , dear Arab-regimes
and use them to make a fist..
from Israel you get only one finger !!!

and
remember what George ever gave you

The first will include those who have

and you may call it :
the Arab-league-of-castrated-collaborators
and the second may conserve the tittle of :
The
 Arab League of States

Two years later ,
the Arab-League of Collaborators
will have to change its name into :
The League of Collaborators
and they may keep Mahmoud Abbas with them.

In the meantime and
 after this division (or separation)
we have have an Arab-League which will be Arab.

Because,
nobody may still call himself  a brother

thus he who recognises Israel , is no Arab !!

Bismillah [IslamCity] The blue-eyed-West

2009-04-07 Thread raja chemayel
Two Prime-ministers,
but one is  more prime  than the other.

Practically all the Western-governments
are now busy bailing out the financial-institutions.

Muslim Governments are worried only for
their own non-Muslim-financial-institutions
because their Muslim-banks are practically unconcerned
and relatively much safer.

A couple of hundred years ago
those same financial-institutions
were called evil and the devil's own.
and later they became legal and respectable
because the West needed them to finance its colonial-plans.

And what about Zionism ??

First , Zionism was financed only by the Jews
while being considered to be evil by the West
and then later financed by the same West ,
for the benefit of the same blue-eyed-Jews
and now,  it is considered legal and even moral ,
by the same West.

The Prime Minister of Brazil very recently
called this financial-crisis:
a product ( the fault) of the blue-eyed-West
Myself I call Zionism :
a product (the fault) of the
 blue-eyed-Jews

Nonetheless both the Zionism-crimes
and the Financial-crimes
are today supported and sponsored by...
the blue-eyed-West

Do not consider me a racist , please !!
my mother has the prettiest-blue-eyes from the Lebanon
and my wife has also a pair of Bohemian-blue-eyes.

I am not racist,  because I am an Arab
so I just try to learn from past-history,
to analise and make my own conclusions.:

Zionism came from the West
and the Financial-crises too

Museum of Egyptian Archaeology at the University of London, May 2008, and
Universal Café in Khartoum, December 2008.

El-Kogali holds a Masters of Fine Arts in Film from Boston University, USA.

Her previous projects have been exhibited in Khartoum, Cairo, London and
Washington D.C.

IslamOnline.net's correspondent in Sudan  interviewed El-Kogali about her
latest exhibition.

IOL: What is photo-iconography?

El-Kogali: Photo-iconography is a collection of symbols or portraits and things
that are representative of a particular subject. In this case, photos that can
possibly be iconic; things we look at and then think immediately of a
specific place; in this case, Al-Shamaliyya, (the Northern State in Sudan).

IOL: How and why did you start this current project of yours, Zeina: A Photo
Iconography?

El-Kogali: I wanted to make some contribution. Growing up, I did not have any
visual references of Sudan. All around me, kids from other parts of the world
had these icons, either landmarks like the Taj Mahal, the Pyramids, the Eifel
Tower, or the Leaning Tower of Pisa. I had no idea what visual references to
conjure up when someone asked me about where I was from. I was working in
advertising for a while and felt that I needed to put myself out there and do
something creative and thought this is the best thing for me to be doing.

In England there was a real sense of appreciation for the work because, I
think, people were curious about Sudan and happy to see an alternative
perspective.

They were happy to see real people going on about their lives.IOL: What images
of Sudan do you think people outside of Sudan consider iconic? And what
images of Sudan are iconic to you?

El-Kogali: No doubt that the main images that come to their minds are the ones
that they see on their TV screens [like] these shocking pictures that come from
Darfur of decaying bodies out in the desert. I have seen those [images] in
major newspapers in the United States and England. The images are so horribly
vivid that they stay with you and unfortunately that is what people outside
Sudan are familiar with.

I think people who know Sudan well will probably say things like the white
jallabiyya (long and loose male clothing) and turban, and Sudanese women rapped
in tobs (a long body- rap of light cloth). Those familiar with different
regions of Sudan may mention things like tribal scarification, whether it is
the shalukh (three parallel cheek scars) in the north, or the tribal scarring
of the forehead in the south.

Not so much in terms of building though, unless we think of the old mosques in
the Khartoum souk, like the Khartoum Grand Mosque, the Tomb of The Mahdi [in
Omdurman], the Presidential Place or even the old bridges over the Nile.

IOL: Why did you start your work in the north?

El-Kogali: I started in the north because I have heritage there and also
because the north of Sudan has the worst reputation abroad. It is always the
evil Arab north [in Western media]. Because of the highly centralized
government and issues [related to] the uneven distribution of wealth, people
assume that because most members of the Sudanese government are from the north,
that the north is the wealthiest part of the country.

But going up there I realized that actually nobody is spending any money up
there! People have survived because of their own resilience and
resourcefulness. I also wanted to visually identify with what it meant to be
from the north, to be from [the city of] Dongola.

IOL: What makes a good photo-shot?

El-Kogali:  I think it is a matter of taste. That is a difficult question. It
is a matter of preference, some people like to get really close-up and initiate
with their subjects and you see they have these really close-cropped pictures.
Others prefer wide-angle shots. I am not sure if there is a formula, but
generally, something captures my eye and I take the shot.

I usually take several shots and change the angels; I may stand up right or
crouch down a little.  I know what appeals to my visual sense. But what you see
with your eyes is not what the camera sees, especially with digital cameras. I
think I had more success before I switched to digital cameras. When you take a
picture, frame it right and take it, that is what you get on

*How they lived: Who is intelligent person*

*From the lives of our pious predecessors:*

SUFYAN Bin ‘Uyainah said, “The intelligent person is not one who merely
knows what is good and what is bad. The intelligent person is one who, when
he sees what is good, follows it, and when he sees evil, shuns it.”

Bismillah [IslamCity] EGO.....Kills U

2009-04-07 Thread Erooth Mohamed
*EGO.Kills U*

*There was once a scientist. After a lot of practice efforts, he developed
a formula learned the art of reproducing himself. He did it so perfectly
that it was impossible to tell the reproduction from the original. *
**
*One day while doing his research, he realized that the Angel of Death was
searching for him. In order to remain alive he reproduced a dozen copies of
himself. The reproduction was so similar that all of them looked exactly
like him.
Now when this Angel of Death came down, he was at a loss to know which of
the thirteen before him was the original scientist, confused, he left them
all alone returned back to heaven. *
**
*But, not for long, for being an expert in human nature, the Angel came up
with a clever idea. He said to the scientist addressing all thirteen of
them, Sir, you must be a genius to have succeeded in making such perfect
reproduction formula of yourself. However, I have discovered a flaw in your
work, just one tiny little flaw. *
**
*The scientist immediately jumped out shouted, Impossible! where is the
flaw?
Right here said the Angel, as he picked up the scientist from among the
reproductions carried him off. *
**
*The whole purpose of the scientist his formula of reproduction failed as
he could not control his pride, so he lost his life.
*
*So when man's Knowledge Skills takes him to the top of the ladder makes
him successful, however the three letter word EGO can pull him down to
earth immediately at its double speed.*
**
*So don't allow Ego to kill yourself,

Instead; KILL YOUR EGO..!!!*
