Problem starts with a not working dummy address list. The issue here is related to address data presented as a spreadsheet. Why are you asking us to start playing around with Biblio databases? Please stick to the reported problem! (a) With adresses.ods I proceeded Test as following AOO 4.0.0 Final – German UI / German locale [AOO400m3(Build:9702) - Rev. 1503704 2013-07-16 14:54:56 (Di, 16 Jul 2013)] on German German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit), Common 4.0-dev User Profile: 0) From AOO Start Center I open adresses.ods 1) open blank new Text Document 2) Menu 'Tools - Mail Merge Wizard' 3) Current document [Next] 4) Letter type as opposed to eMail[Next] 5) Select the spreadsheet adresses.ods to use as the Address List file [OK] 6) Check This document shell Contain Address Block [More] 7) Select the block Starting with Company [OK] 8) Match Fields: First Name - Vorname, Last Name - Nachname, Company Name - Firma, Address Line 1 - Adresszeile, City - Stadt, Zip - PLZ [OK] 9) In area 4 of MMW Step 3 test all 19 Adresses in preview pane: Everythin wors fine, for Firma 5 no empty Line Adresszeile and so on [Next] 10) Create Source Document and Print Document with 19 Pages, save both, and check Print result: everything works fine, NO empty lines for missing address Data. BUT --- (b) When I closed all documents (without terminating AOO) and did the test again with the saved source document, I see something similar to reporter's problem: in Step 3 Preview pane lines with missing address info will be shown as empty lines, will not be suppressed. (c) And a Test with server installation of AOO 4.1.0-Dev – English UI / English locale - [AOO410m1(Build:9750) - Rev. 1546757 - 2013-12-02] on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit), own separate user profile, immediately shows the problem in preview pane. But (c) I can't tell what situation exactly is shown in reporter's screenshot. If it's really is Step 6,, that might be NOR_AN_ISSUE. In that steps the fields are shown, and of course the line with missing address information of course still is shown with the Hidden Paragraph fields in it. So currently it's completely unclear what expected behavior due to Help is. I think only lines only containing an empty field should be suppressed. In reporter's screenshot it seems that his problem is that above Ash Line there is an empty text line? I tried something similar with biblio.odb as address base, but I got strange, unusable results. @Edwin: Does the empty line appear when you uncheck the suppress-property? @grahamft: Can you please try with 4.0.1? Is it the field that is marked in red arrow here that is the problem? Original screenshot is not obvious. No, that is not the problem. Take a look at the attachment I included with the original bug report, above. This screenshot shows the Mail Merge Wizard window in the foreground, showing the step within the wizard where the problem occurs (6. Edit Document). Behind this window is one of the documents, showing the problem: there is a gap between 27 Foxhurst Road and Ash Vale, where a cell within the source address list contains no value. If the document is being presented for editing then this space should already have been omitted, as it will be when the document is finally printed.
