Performance Analysis Tool in jdk1.1.8

2001-12-24 Thread Ramasubramanian

Hi All,

Can u please suggest a performace analysis tool compliant for
jkd1.1.8 under Linux which would give me information reg. the memory and CPU
utilization, number of threads spawned etc. ???

I find lots of tools that are compliant with the Java 2
platform but not jdk1.1.8. Due to our product constraints we are using
jdk1.1.8.

Any help in this regard would be entertained.

RegardsRams

Java 3D crashes when i close the window - Please Help

2001-12-24 Thread Eryk Furman

Hi all this is my first post, I just started developing Java under Linux, cuz frankly
i cant deal
with Microsoft's OS's anymore. I am running Red Hat 7.1, Java 2 jdk1.4 beta 3,
blackdown java3d
1.3. Im running this on an IBM laptop with a NeoMagic vid card. The class runs fine
but when i
close the window it crashes the entire X widows system and usually gives me the GUI
login screen
(the other times i just get stuck with a blank screen) I was thinking that maybe its
my ver of
Mesa, as far as i can tell the existing default install is 3.4 I downloaded 4.0.1
although im
having a hard time installing it, not sure why. I run ./configure, but on the make
and make
install i get "nothing to be done" messages. I also realize that it could be that my
laptop does
not have 3D hardware .. although i hope this is not the case. Has any one encountered
this issue?

Any help will be greatly appreciated,

Thank you in advance,

Eryk

A note I found in the Flightgear-users archive suggests that versions
of Mesa prior to 3.4.2 have problems that can crash X servers - that
might be the problem.

Not having 3D hardware shouldn't be an issue, BTW. Mesa only knows how to
drive a handful of 3D hardware accelerators, and does software rendering
for everything else.

Re: Java 3D crashes when i close the window - FIXED :)

2001-12-24 Thread Eryk Furman

Thanks Nathan,

I managed to upgrade to an official Mesa library (this was mentioned in the
README-Java3D) and
also used the newest ver 4.0.1. Not sure why it didnt work the first time. But it
works now.
:)

Happy Holidays to all ...
