[JAWS-Users] Jaws 8 with saved emails

2007-01-08 Thread one foxy lady

I had a little problem today with jaws 8 trying to read an saved to my
documents email and jaws 8 just wasn't doing it..
I had Excel open and the email was info that needed to be copied from it to
the spreadsheet but had to close out that version and load jaws 7.10 to get
it to read..

I could alt tab and read the email with 8 if nothing else had focus..

[JAWS-Users] jaws loosing fokis

2007-01-08 Thread Mich
hello all. I just got my pc back a few weeks agoafter having a hole new harddrive put in. and a friend of mine install jaws. I have notist some things though. I am running jaws 7.0 and I have found that some times jaws will loose focus in OE. it will say top of window and bottom of window when I am arrowing through messages. this is a bit frustrating to say the least. I have to un load jaws and then re load it. Does any one know why I might be having this issue? and what if anything I might be able to do to fix it? many thanks. from Mich Verrier.

[JAWS-Users] Music Bot XP 2.3

2007-01-08 Thread Vy Pham

Does anyone familiar with a program called Music Bot XP 2.3? I believe this
program is from the PALTALK people. That was where I got the information from
anyway. I also have the website for this program, but I was unable to search
for any types of explanations, nordemo for this program. On the website
just has the link for me to go purchase it.
So, I am not sure whether or not, this program is accessible to blind people?
If anybody has information or experience with this program, could you please
share those with me?
I also want to include the website here, just in case anyone interested in
looking at it:
http://web.1asphost.com/MusicBot/buy_music_bot_xp.htm
Thanks everybody.

Hmm that's oddd that I'm the only one experience the window unfocusing issue
in file zilla.

I have used it with no problem. It's different than ftp and takes
getting
used to, but I like it better. Rick Harmon has a tutorial on his
webpage,

Take care,

[JAWS-Users] Re: Jaws and ATI

2007-01-08 Thread Marsha

Hi Walt and All
First, I would like to say that the only reason I mentioned Zoomtext was
that was one of the very few places which had any information whatsoever
about the error. I do not have Zoomtext.
As I have mentioned in previous messages, Dell supposedly updated both
the sound card and the video card drivers which made no difference to the
problem.
Below is the technical information given in the error message. I still
don't understand; if the tech person has the error message, it seems like
they should know what the problem is. The error message is:

*** STOP: 0x008E (0xC005, 0xBF04161, 0xF02F70CC, 0x)

I'll go back at it though and thanks all for the help.

 Hi Joe,

I didn't have as easy a time of it as Jonathon did.

I clicked on the link directly from the page, and my jaws seemed to freeze up.

when I switched applications with the alt-tab command, Jaws came back to
speaking, but when I came back to the document, Jaws just quit on me.

I was able to use my Jaws cursor to go to the top of the page, but as for
reading it, it wouldn't do it.

The next thing I tried was to open it in a separate window by doing a
shift+enter command. This seemed to help me read it better.

In other words, Jaws spoke the contents of the file and I had no problems
reading it from that point on.

As for saving it, that was a complete different story.

I had to use the Jaws cursor to move up to a button or something that said
save a copy and left clicked on it.

At that point, the save as dialog box came up, and I was able to save it in
the my documents folder.

Once it was saved, I was able to go to it via the my documents folder, enter
on it, and it became completely accessible and Adobe 7 came back to full
functionality.

I don't know what the heck happened there, but I can't say for sure whether
that was the document's fault or Adobe's fault.

I have never had so much trouble opening up a PDF document in my life that
claimed to be accessible, but then again, with all the updates that have come
across my computer for Adobe, it's been a while since I used the program to
view any PDF documents, so this may be how things are done now with PDF
documents.

Anyway, that was my experience with the form you had trouble with.

 Victor

[JAWS-Users] Re: assistence

2007-01-08 Thread Cohn, Jonathan C [IT]

I had no real problems with the below URL using Jaws 7.1 and Adobe 7.

It did take about 5 seconds to interpret the page.

Accessibility Statement

NFB seal of accessibility certificationThe power of the Web is in its
universality. Access by everyone regardless of disability is an essential
aspect.

Source: Tim Berners-Lee, W3C Director and inventor of the World Wide Web.

Guide Dogs for the Blind strives to make its Web site accessible for all users,
including people with disabilities. GuideDogs.com exceeds government standards

and has been certified by the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) for
Non-Visual Access.

In addition to making technical changes to our Web sites to provide greater
accessibility, we test them with multiple assistive technologies - such as
screen

readers and screen enlarging software - to analyze and modify our pages. We
also engage accessibility experts and people with disabilities to further test

and modify our Web sites for optimal usability.

Changing the font size

In the header of each page on our Web site, you can increase the font size by
clicking the 'A' buttons at the top of the screen. This will allow you to

customize the font size to suit your personal preference.

Alternative content

For those members of our audience who use screenreader or speech browser
software, we've provided sensible alternative text for images where this
alternative

text will aid your understanding of the webpage. If you discover an image that
does not have suitable alternative text, please contact us.

Logical tab order and page layout

We've built pages so that it's easier to tab through the links - the content
area is reached immediately after the header, making it easier to move around

within a site. The jump links at the top of the page still provide fast and
easy access to the main areas of every page, including the navigation.

Headers

Our pages use structured headers to aid legibility. The first header on the
page is the main content header followed by any appropriate sub-headers, then

by headers for the navigation areas of the site.

This aids users of certain screenreaders and speech browsers - for instance:
JAWS users can type INSERT+F6 to hear all the headers on the page, or
CTRL+INSERT+ENTER

to quickly navigate through the page by skipping to the next header.

Tables

We are no longer using tables to lay out page content, except for the display
of tabular data.

If you would like further information about our accessibility standards or have
problems accessing this Web site, please

contact our Webmaster.

Do you really mean that you have to open Windows Explorer? You said FTP
Explorer.

If so, when you have the program selected in Windows Explorer, press
ALT+F; then press the letter n; then arrow to Desktop (create shortcut)
and press ENTER. This will place a shortcut on the desktop to that
program. You may want to edit the shortcut--sometimes, they will say
"Shortcut to " and you might want to change this to
something more meaningful. If so, select the desktop entry and press F2 to
edit the wording.

[JAWS-Users] Re: File Zilla

2007-01-08 Thread Lois Butterfield

I have used it with no problem. It's different than ftp and takes getting
used to, but I like it better. Rick Harmon has a tutorial on his webpage,
blind-geek-zone.net.

Take care,
Lois

Has anyone used JAWS with FileZilla? It's an FTP client, but sure could use
some JAWS scripts.
