[JAWS-Users] I AM REMOVING MYSELF FROM THIS LIST!!!
Hi Everyone; Around the first week in January, I posted a message to the group. I eluded to the fact that I believe we should treat each other with the same respect and compassion that we would like to be treated with. While I can only be responsible for myself and my own actions, I feel that certain people on this list are of a different feeling namely, the list moderator. Everyone has a bad day from time to time however, the list moderator of whom I speak is an individual who does not stick to his own rules. Bob Batchelor posted a message about people and his ideas about what they should know about there computer. Their are people on this list who range from novices to seasoned users and all of us do our best to contribute to the list. My attitude in some cases, leaves a lot to be desired. I refer to my bashing of Freedom Scientific. If I would have stopped and thought about some messages I posted, I would have never posted them. Now, I understand that Bob Batchelor may have been booted from this list without any knowledge of his dismissal. If that is the case then, I am removing myself from this list and, I urge any free thinking American, who respects our constitution and the first amendment to do the same. Bob did not use any profanity and he did not engage in any character assassination. This I find to be disgusting. None of us are perfect. If their is a message that annoys you, just hit the delete key. That's what it's for. I ask that the list moderators examine there own messages and attitudes. Hi Everyone; Just an update. As of today, I will not be forwarding any e-mails with attachments. People are very particular today about what they receive in there e-mail and, how much mail they receive. Also, viruses and hoaxes and spyware and malware are getting more and more sophisticated every day. I hope all of you understand. Talk to you soon. [JAWS-Users] Re: I WILL NOT BE FORWARDING ANY MORE ATTACHMENTS!!!
Hi David; I would never forward anything to the list to begin with. I appreciate your positive attitude. I know that I want this message to serve as a learning tool for anyone who is even considering forwarding anything to this list or any list. Keep up the good work. [JAWS-Users] Re: Combo box question
Hi Sharon; Sometimes it's a toss up. When you enter forms mode you may not need to hit the alt key, just the down arrow. Anthony - Original Message - From: Sharon To: jaws-users-list@googlegroups.com Sent: Saturday, December 23, 2006 2:29 PM Subject: [JAWS-Users] Re: Combo box question I've been having a similar problem with combo boxes. This set is especially weird, as the alt down arrow brings me out of forms mode and I cannot seem to select any of the choices. http://www.gapeaches.com/recipes.htm I really want the recipes information. Is it me, or is this impossible because this site is just plain inaccessible? [JAWS-Users] Re: A problem with Notepad.
Hi Jason; If you choose TYPICAL install, the training material will automatically be installed. Anthony - Original Message - From: jason smith To: jaws-users-list@googlegroups.com Sent: Wednesday, December 20, 2006 2:58 AM Subject: [JAWS-Users] Re: A problem with Notepad. Hi Ricque, thanks for getting back to me. I was actually doing a google search for the answer, when I got your reply. Something else you might be able to help me with. I uninstalled Jaws 7.1 as I wanted to do a repair of Jaws 7.0. I had downloaded 7.0 from FS and so did not have the training materials installed. I wanted to put this on before upgrading to Jaws 8.0. After uninstalling Jaws 7.1. I came across the Jaws repair function in the menus. I chose this and the repair was performed. However, now Jaws wouldn't start automatically. No problem, as I have a hotkey for it and will be installing Jaws 8.0. Stupid me, then realized, that because this repair, was done using the Jaws 7.0 downloaded from FS, it still wouldn't contain the training materials. I then put my Jaws 7.0 CD in and did a repair using it. My question is, would the training materials have been completely installed? I think we are usually prompted about whether to install the training material or not. I wasn't prompted. I also have only one CD for Jaws 7.0. Should there be two like with Jaws 8.0? I don't quite remember if we got two or not. In a way I think we did. I just want to check, before I keep looking for something that doesn't exist smile. thanks for your help Jason - Original Message - From: Ricque [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: jaws-users-list@googlegroups.com Sent: Wednesday, December 20, 2006 2:25 AM Subject: [JAWS-Users] Re: A problem with Notepad. Hi Jason, The following was taken from the Jaws help topics. Enhanced Edit Support If you select this check box, JAWS provides enhanced support for edit and rich edit areas. This feature allows for increased accuracy while reading text in these areas. In addition, enhanced edit support allows JAWS to recognize an extended selection of text attributes and better detect languages automatically. However, you may experience reduced responsiveness while using certain programs. This check box is cleared by default. Smart Word Reading In previous releases, when issuing the Say Word command, JAWS would only read the current word or character when the cursor was positioned on a text unit, such as a compound word, telephone number, date, time, or math equation. With Smart Word Reading enabled in version 8.0, JAWS now reads the entire text unit when the Say Word command is issued. Note: The Smart Word Reading feature is application dependent. So, if Microsoft Word normally reads the entire text unit as one word or number, then JAWS will do the same. Likewise, if an application, such as WordPad, reads each component of the text unit, then JAWS will do the same. For example, in the sentence, She is my sister-in-law, if the cursor is placed anywhere on the word sister, JAWS would say sister. However, in JAWS 8.0 with Smart Word Reading, JAWS will say the entire compound word, sister-in-law. Likewise, in the sentence, The appointment was at 2:00 P.M., JAWS would say colon if the cursor was placed between the digit 2 and the colon. In JAWS 8.0 with Smart Word Reading, JAWS will say the entire text unit as two o'clock. As a final example, let's look at how JAWS reads a telephone number. If the cursor is placed between the dash and the 444 in the telephone number 1-800-444-4443, previous JAWS versions would say, 444. In JAWS 8.0 with Smart Word Reading, JAWS reads the entire telephone number as, 1-800-444-4443. Indicate New Line When In the Speech and Sounds Manager, you can specify text or a sound that you want to hear when you move to a new line of text while typing or reading. Select one or more of the following check boxes to specify when JAWS should indicate a new line: list of 3 items . Editor Wraps Text While Typing - JAWS indicates new lines when your editor or word processor wraps text to the next line while you are typing. . User Navigates Left or Right Across a Line Break - JAWS indicates new lines when you are reading by word or character. . User Reads Text Containing NewLine Characters - JAWS indicates new lines when you are using the standard JAWS reading commands and encounter the special character that represents the beginning of a new line of text. Word-wrap, is available in Notepad, and Wordpad, but I can't say for sure about Word. The following was taken from the help topics in Notepad. . Wrapping text enables you to see all the text on the line, but it doesn't affect the way text appears when it is printed. HTH, Ricque - Original Message - From: jason smith [EMAIL

I am going to archive this list the same way with the free service I found. So far as the archives on Yahoo they will remain available to any list member over there for the foreseeable future. I don't know at this time how to snag those posts and save them in a third party location, but to be honest I haven't tried although I might take a look.
