[JAWS-Users] jaws losing focus

2007-05-26 Thread Lenny McHugh
Hi all,
Since I went to jaws 8 Jaws loses focus when reading web pages. I am using xp
home and jaws 8.
When reading some WebPages especially my local paper jaws just stops and places
me in the in box of outlook express.
I do have the page maximized which does not make a difference. I ran into the
problem with both the page being maximized and not.
When I tab through the applications I get back to the web page on the line that
was being read.
Any suggestions?

[JAWS-Users] Re: jaws losing focus

2007-05-26 Thread Lenny McHugh

Hi Flor,
What you described usually happens to me when I want to forward an email.
Jaws stops speaking until I use windows m and then bring outlook back into
focus. When I am reading a web page jaws just puts me in the outlook express
in box.

I have also found this, (and think it's a bug, or something I thought had
been fixed before), when reading or getting into RSS feeds. Hit Windows+m a
few times in succession, to get JAWS to speak again, then alt+tab back.
Sometimes, it may then be necessary to start SayAll again with a press of
Insert+DownArrow.

[JAWS-Users] just an idea Re: [JAWS-Users] Re: Graphics labeling

2007-05-24 Thread Lenny McHugh

Hi David,
I do agree with the sighted assistance. I had to do that on a few occasions.
Now for something to try. Bill stated that the automatic graphic labeling
helps however the labels are not saved. I wonder if he first used the
automatic feature then when they are named tab through each of them and use
insert g to go through the procedure to make it permanent. I have been
looking for something to test this theory.

Hi William,
Do the following:
1. With the Jaws cursor sitting on the graphic, press insert + G
to open the graphics labeler.
2. Hit the delete key to remove the current graphic label, which is usually
a number.
3. Tab, and fill in the edit fields as appropriate, and then tab again
to the save graphic , and make sure the save to application file is
selected.
4. Spacebar the okay button, you are done.
Note:
You will have to repeat this procedure for each graphic that you need to
label.

[JAWS-Users] Re: the latest JAWS update

2007-05-16 Thread Lenny McHugh
Hello Andrew, I had the problem about two weeks ago. After a lot of
correspondence with FS support it came to removing some scripts.
First under jaws options go to manage applications and uncheck outlook express.
Restart jaws and it should work ok. If this is the case go back to manage
applications and remove outlook express or you could just leave it unchecked.

[JAWS-Users] Re: Doing a repair on JAWS

2007-05-06 Thread Lenny McHugh

Hi Arianna ,
I also found this interesting. When I talked to FS support I was told to
again download version Version 8.0.210 7 and run the setup. I was told that
I would then be presented with a repair option. No way, the only choice I
had was to go to add/remove and remove jaws 8. Then re-run the setup
program.
All previous versions gave me the repair option.

It certainly does h---! now, why didn't I think of that?

I have version 8.0 and i wanted to update from the FS site. i was told to
do a repair on JAWS since some file or files names had ben changed--i never
changed a JAWS file. Anyway, i looked all over the place where i thought
the repair would be and FS did it again, changed something. Ah well, maybe
they're trying to keep us old JAWS users on our toes?

thankks again, my friend.

Hi Arianna,
You didn't say which version of Jaws,
but try this:
Put your Jaws installation cd in for the version you want to repair.
The setup program should start automatically, and inform you that Jaws is
already installed,
and then ask you what you want to do.
This is where you will get the repair option.
No, your mind didn't go blank, FS changed things a little. smile.

[JAWS-Users] adware removers

2007-05-03 Thread Lenny McHugh
Is there a one stop shop that is jaws friendly for removing adware?
I have been using ad-aware for a long time as did a friend. This friend was
having some computer problems and installed spybot. I followed his lead and
spybot found a few things that ad-aware did not. After a few hours of surfing I
ran the spybot first and followed with ad-aware. Now ad-aware found a few
things that spybot did not.
I know that I can continue doing the process with the two programs. Just wonder
if there is a jaws friendly program that only needs one pass.
Thanks

Try this:
Re-enable the Outlook Express scripts, then go into the Jaws user folder.
Select the .jss file for Outlook Express, and hit enter.
The script manager should open, so when it does press control + S, to
re-compile the script.
Close the script manager, and then try Outlook Express again.

that fast so I have always used the shift key for that. Now here is the problem

[JAWS-Users] Re: block senders list

2007-04-03 Thread Lenny McHugh

Hi Victor,
I usually do not check for the actual deleted messages however lately I know
that I missed something. On one of my lists there was a reply to a message
that I never read. Because of a lot of spam from this particular url I
blocked the actual url as opposed to each individual message. When I looked
in the deleted folder there were several messages from some people on the
Trekker list.
I removed that url from the list. I also noticed what would have been a
legitimate message from another blocked url so I deleted that entry as well.
Looking through the messages I saw no of the spam emails. That is why I
wanted to clean the block list and probably start over being a little more
careful.
As I said I never check that folder only because I knew that I did not
receive a particular message.

Hi Bill,

I'm used to the blocked senders list through my Yahoo e-mail account, which
my ISP uses.

My blocked senders list actually blocks the messages at the source, so my
computer never sees the messages when I download my messages to my Outlook
Express.

Add to that the fact that Lenny did not specify if the blocked senders list
was part of his computer's application blocked senders list, or his ISP's
e-mail blocked senders list, so I'm sure you can appreciate the confusion on
my part.

Either way, my question still stands, if your blocked senders list deletes
the messages before they reach your inbox, and you purposely go into your
deleted items folder to view who has sent you the messages, what is the
point of putting these people on your blocked senders list?

I presume you are blocking the e-mail addresses and not subjects or
keywords, right?

This type of filtering is fairly infallible, so, again, why bother?

Victor

[JAWS-Users] Re: block senders list

2007-04-03 Thread Lenny McHugh

Hi David,
For me I found outlook express to be the friendliest with jaws.
My isp verizon has tools to do this but either they do not work or I really
can't use them with jaws.
I found mail washer to work well with jaws but not on my system because of
the multiple accounts and the way that verizon works. It is to actually
bounce blocked messages with a message indicating that an invalid address
was reached. Verizon will not allow this type of transmission.
I like outlook because of the spell check feature and how well it works with
jaws. If I am not the world's worst speller I am probably the second in line

 Hi Victor,
I usually do not check for the actual deleted messages however lately I
 know
that I missed something. On one of my lists there was a reply to a message
that I never read. Because of a lot of spam from this particular url I
blocked the actual url as opposed to each individual message. When I
 looked
in the deleted folder there were several messages from some people on the
 Trekker list.
I removed that url from the list. I also noticed what would have been a
legitimate message from another blocked url so I deleted that entry as
 well.
Looking through the messages I saw no of the spam emails. That is why I
wanted to clean the block list and probably start over being a little more
 careful.
As I said I never check that folder only because I knew that I did not
 receive a particular message.

 Hi Bill,

I'm used to the blocked senders list through my Yahoo e-mail account,
 which
 my ISP uses.

My blocked senders list actually blocks the messages at the source, so my
computer never sees the messages when I download my messages to my Outlook
 Express.

Add to that the fact that Lenny did not specify if the blocked senders
 list
was part of his computer's application blocked senders list, or his ISP's
e-mail blocked senders list, so I'm sure you can appreciate the confusion
 on

 Victor

[JAWS-Users] block senders list

2007-04-02 Thread Lenny McHugh
Hi All,
I have about 200 addresses in my block sender's list. They were all from spam
messages that I blocked.
I no longer appear to be receiving spam from these addresses. Is there an easy
way to remove the entries?
I tried to select each entry and when I enter on the remove button only the
last entry is deleted.
