Stu, I'm not a moderator but I did want to share some information. I am on another Google group. For some reason, that list has experienced this same problem. Some members are receiving emails and the remainder of the group are not. This has been happening all of this past week. Skype has been installed for over a year. - Original Message - From: Flor Lynch [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: jaws-users-list@googlegroups.com Sent: Friday, March 30, 2007 8:07 PM Subject: [JAWS-Users] Re: IE6 Favorites question When you installed Skype, as you may have done recently, during installation did you receive a notification about the Google Toolbar? It would then have installed by default, unless you had unchecked it at that point. Just a theory or a hunch, at this stage, awaiting confirmation. But it could be either the Google toolbar or some other toolbar unwittingly installed that's causing the problems you experience. - Original Message - From: tammy cantrell [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: jaws-users-list@googlegroups.com Sent: Saturday, March 31, 2007 1:12 AM Subject: [JAWS-Users] Re: IE6 Favorites question Heh heh heh! [JAWS-Users] Re: web mail
Victor, Thanks for your help. I will pass these instructions on to my students. As for sending attchments, we can just give it a whirl. I'll let you know when we try it. Thanks again for your time and assistance. - Original Message - From: Victor Gouveia To: jaws-users-list@googlegroups.com Sent: Saturday, March 03, 2007 5:43 AM Subject: [JAWS-Users] Re: web mail Hi Tammy, Composing e-mails are just as easy, if not easier, depending on the version of Jaws you have. I am currently running Jaws 7 and I find that once I press the navigation hotkey to get to the compose button with the B key and hit enter, Yahoo typically focuses on the to field of the next page where you compose the message. At that point, all you have to do is press enter to go to forms mode and you can tab through the different fields. Having said that, there is a caveat in this process. First off, I don't know what it's like to send attachments with web mail, so I can't really comment on that part of it, so please try at your own risk, and if it behooves you, please report back what you find as I am interested in that also. Secondly, the spell checker is atrocious to use, and completely inaccessible, or rather, a complete pain in the ass to use with Jaws. It could also be that I didn't have enough patience to learn to use it properly, or that Yahoo may have possibly made the process better to use for blind and visually impaired users of their site since the last time I tried to use it, but in any case, the same use at your own risk applies here also. One thing I find easier to use is possibly composing the e-mail in another program, such as Outlook Express or Microsoft Word or Word Pad, use the spell checker in those programs, then cut and paste the result into the message field of the web mail message. I find this a great deal easier, especially if I have a really long piece to compose, or if I'm not feeling particularly well that day and I make a number of mistakes. Either way, you can decide if you want to try those aspects of the process. Hope this helps. [JAWS-Users] Re: web mail
Sorry to be so long in replying to your wonderful instructions. I have been out of town. Needless to say, I now have email mountain. I greatly appreciate the time you spent in writing me these wonderful instructions. I will be saving these instructions in several places. I do have another question. Is composing or replying to a message easy to do with Jaws? I was ask these questions as I zoomed by a student. I haven't had time to get in there and experiment with it. Thanks so much for your time and efforts. - Original Message - From: Victor Gouveia To: jaws-users-list@googlegroups.com Sent: Monday, February 19, 2007 3:23 PM Subject: [JAWS-Users] Re: web mail Hi Tammy, Sorry to get back to you so late on this, but I found your message stuck away in my bulk items folder and forgot to check it in the last couple of days. Anyway, I regularly use Web Mail to check my e-mail through Yahoo, it is quite simple once you set it up to your liking. For example... My current sequence is as follows: Please keep in mind that I have already set up everything I need to check my e-mail quickly and to expedite not staying on my Internet Explorer window very long. Suffice it to say, I have set up my Yahoo log-in screen as a favourite, and because it's the only link in my favourites menu with the letter Y, all I have to do is hit the keystroke of alt+A to go to the favourites menu, then the letter Y to go to the Yahoo log-in screen. The link for that is usually mail.yahoo.com, and once there, you can add it to your favourites, and do the following: Hit the F key to go to the first form field. This will usually be the username field. Once you've established that it is the field you want, place a permanent placemarker there by pressing the control+shift+K keystroke. This will take you to a dialog box with the list of placemarkers already on the page. Since you haven't placed any, this list should be empty. Tab once to the add button and press the spacebar, which will pop up a placemarker name dialog box. You can either, choose to go with the name already there, or type in a new name for it. Now, Having done this, every time you go to the Yahoo log-in page and press the letter K to go to the first place marker, you'll land on the username field, at which point, you would go into the forms mode and enter the appropriate information and hit enter. Now that that's done, the following page will also need some work in order to stream line any future e-mail checking through web mail. So, in the following page after you've logged in, press the letter L until Jaws says list of 5 items. This is where the list of folders is. By folders I mean the Inbox, Sent Items, Drafts and Bulk and Trash folders. These are links that you use to go to the other web pages that contain your e-mails. This is also the list that will tell you how many unread e-mails you have in each folder. One thing you can do to streamline this process is place another permanent placemarker on that list of 5 items, or on the inbox link, if you want to go directly there, and use the placemarker to navigate the screen. This completely negates the process of having to scroll through the hundreds of links on the page. Once you've seen how many unread e-mails are in each folder, if that is your desired choice to do, hit enter on the folder, and the page with all the e-mails you have will pop up. After this, reading the list of e-mails and, subsequently, reading the e-mails you want to read are easy, once you know the specific keys to press to get you to where you want to go. So, for argument sake, Let's say you see that there are 53 unread messages in your inbox. Once the inbox link is highlighted, you press enter and the resulting page will load up. Once the page has completely loaded up, press the letter T for table, and this will take you right to the top of the e-mail list. In fact, once you press the letter T Jaws will take you directly to a checkbox at the beginning of the list of e-mails in the folder. Jaws will say something like checkbox not checked select all, blah, blah, blah. Anyway, this table starts off and lists the e-mail headers as follows: Sender: Attachments: (If any, usually not spoken, or spoken as a blank column) Subject: Date: Size: These are the columns in the table that lists the messages you have waiting to be read. There are other columns that will sometimes show up, such as view address book listing, or view contact details and other information, but in the table column headers, like the attachment column, Jaws often speaks these headers as blank columns. The only time Jaws will say that there's something there is when you are going through the list of e-mails, and there's an attachment or there are profiles you can view, in which case, the first row won't show these

[JAWS-Users] Re: making a hot key for jaws
Mitch, Here are the steps to make your hotkey: 1. use the windows key + m to get you to the desktop 2. press the letter j to get you to the Jaws icon 3. press the application key. It is the 3rd key to the right of your spacebar. 4. arrow up 1 time or press the letter r to go to the properties and press enter. 5. Tab until you hear the words short cut 6. just press the letter j. The alt and control are automatically in place for you. You may want to tab away and then shift tab to make sure the letter stays there. 7. Tab to the ok and press the enter key. This should set up that hotkey for Jaws. You can use these steps for other shortcuts, just use different letters or numbers. Hope this helps. - Original Message - From: Mich To: jaws-users-list @googlegroups.com Sent: Friday, December 29, 2006 9:57 PM Subject: [JAWS-Users] making a hot key for jaws hi all i am using jaws 7.0 and i would like to know how to make a hot key for it? many thanks. from Mich Verrier. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ Visit the JAWS Users List home page at: http://www.jaws-users.com Address for the list archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/jaws-users-list%40googlegroups.com/ Address to contact the management team: [EMAIL PROTECTED] You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups JAWS Users List group.
