[JAWS-Users] regarding system restore

2008-09-30 Thread Leonard Morris
When using system restore with Jaws V9, I know how to go to the previous day or
previous month. But, I don't know how to locate and read the dates in bold in
order to pick a date in the calendar table. I just hear the days and the
calendar dates for the entire month being read.

[JAWS-Users] a jaws 10 beta 2 bug

2008-09-30 Thread northstar1950
I have noticred that in jaws beta 2 when using the laptop keyboard
layout, the cappslockkey+j doesnot bring up the jaws window and
ctrl+f5 doesnot reload an internet page, i.e. lets say you press
enter on a download button on sendspace and you receive the page that
the free service is at capacity and that you can wait so many seconds
to try again, pressing ctrl+f5 should clear the page back to the
previous page so you can press enter on the download button again.
not sure if this happened with the beta 1 as far as the
cappslockkey+j is concerned but the ctrl+f5 didn't work in beta 1 either.

Re: [JAWS-Users] SP3

2008-09-30 Thread Patricia Dunbar
I had just an experience this evening..
I didn't complete the install or it couldn't for some reason it said. I did
go on the update page of Microsoft and found 11 security updates I needed so
went on and installed them and shortly thereafter, I get a message saying it
was uninstalling the first part of the SP3 I had installed and removing the
last part that failed and then it put it all back in correctly and as I
routed jaws to see what was going on, it was reading that all services on my
computer was shut off while it was doing this install..
It rebooted 3 times and for a time I had no speech which was scary to say
the least..
But finally all is restored and all is updated and all services are turned
back on and all is functional.
I was going to look for Office 2003 and download a trial version, but after
all that and me sitting here biting my nails hoping all will be o.k I just
was so frazzled that I couldn't finish with what I had started.
The update of Office will have to wait till another day, whew..

I would go ahead and install SP3. However, due to personal experience, I
strongly recommend you make sure you complete the download and install
before shutting down. If the install fails due to an interruption, it
 could
cause major problems. In my case as well as for some others, a failed
install of SP3 caused my computer to no longer be able to connect to the
Internet. It was not a fun problem to try to figure out and fix (LOL, as
 if
there is such a thing as a fun computer problem).

Just be cautious and complete the task, and I would imagine all shall go
 smoothly. HTH.

You can use jawskey+f to hear the font atributes when you move through the
dates. In XP I used the jaws cursor to move, I didn't do this yet in vista.

[JAWS-Users] Jaws 10 beta2 is double talking on some websites

2008-09-30 Thread Cesar Velarde
I am using Jaws 10 beta 2 and installed Firefox 3.03. When I visited Firefox
and Yahoo wevsites, I noticed that Jaws is reading every line twice or I
should say double talking. While in other web sites Jaws is properly working.
How can I correct this problem? Anybody experiencing the same problem?

Thank you.

[JAWS-Users] hello everyone need advice:

2008-09-30 Thread Karen Bailey
I know this doesn't apply to Jaws directly, but I need advice
have noone else to ask. I keep getting this message from Comcast
about my computer not being protected, so yesterday, I hired
someone to install avg. I just got the message again this
morning, from the support center. Tried to send message back to
tell them I had installed the avg. Will this do me any good, or
is this message computer generated? They have not cut off my
e-mail, but almost every morning must ask for a refresh to send
out mail. What could be going on? Going to ask tech guy about
this too. Karen and Harpo

Karren,

SP3 is a major security update for windows xp. it contains all updates since
service pack 2 was released. if you have automatic updates turned on, it
may've already been installed for you automatically.

  Hey Devona,
After you press ctrl shift k
press tab to get to the add and press the space bar
then tab to ok press space bar
Now you added a place marker.

  To delete one
  1 press ctrl shift k
2 arrow down to the one you want to delete
3 tab 4 times to remove
5 tab to ok press enter
  hth Patti

Oops, sorry Devona, I meant to say shift-control instead of alt-control.
Here's Maria's email that explains it better.

Actually, control K just makes a temporary bookmark, which erases when
   closing a site.
Shift plus control Plus K allows for making permanent bookmarks.
Pressing shift plus control plus K again brings up a list of bookmarks
   that
can then be manipulated as you'd like, including deletion.

When using system restore with Jaws V9, I know how to go to the previous
day or previous month. But, I don't know how to locate and read the dates
in bold in order to pick a date in the calendar table. I just hear the
days and the calendar dates for the entire month being read.

Re: [JAWS-Users] regarding system restore

2008-09-30 Thread Alex Stone
Steve, yes I too found these buttons, and managed to work out what they did,
the problem is though that the restores seem only to go back to the 23rd,
which is after I installed the program I'm trying to get rid of. I've been
back and looked though September and August, and there's nothing else there.
Cheers
Alex

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] regarding system restore

Leonard, Alex,

When I arrow around this screen or use B, I find there are two less
buttons and two greater buttons. If I tab around or use Insert + F5,
the first less button is given as shows the previous month and the
first greater button is shows the next month. The second pair are
shows the previous day button and shows the next day button. I use
the second pair to change the screen to show the next or previous day on
which a restore was done.

The date on which the restore was done is between the two buttons, with
the details (time, title) given after them.

Another way you can do it is to Tab to the table, then press Insert + 3
to allow the next keystroke through to Windows and then press LeftArrow
or RightArrow to move to the previous or next date on which a restore
was done. If JAWS doesn't read out the date focus moves to, press Insert
+ Tab.

The list of restores can be jumped to by pressing L.

I've always found System Restore to be pretty flaky in terms of how many
restores it remembers. At the moment it's only going back to 29th
September!

When using system restore with Jaws V9, I know how to go to the previous
day
or previous month. But, I don't know how to locate and read the dates
in
bold in order to pick a date in the calendar table. I just hear the
days
and the calendar dates for the entire month being read.

Yes, install it. No JAWS problems will or should result.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] SP3

Hi all, need an opinion as to whether I should install that SP3
from
microsoft that I keep getting a notice to do, but hesitant as
wouldn't want
to have problems with jaws. I still have jaws 7 and Win XP home.
Thanks for
your input. Barbara
