[JAWS-Users] Empty buffer wih Firefox 3 and JAWS 10

2009-06-13 Thread E.J. Zufelt

Good evening,

I, and a few others, are experiencing two problems with JAWS 10 and
Firefox 3. The problem is that frequently during browsing certain
sites the JAWS virtual buffer will be empty after a page has loaded.
Pressing Insert + Z a couple of times will sometimes resolve the issue.

Also, when taking focus away from Firefox and returning the cursor is
at the top of the virtual buffer, and not where it was when focus was
taken away from firefox.

If anyone is experiencing either of these problems and either knows
the solution or not please let me know, you may reply off list if you
like.

Thanks,
Everett

This sounds like a confirmation email. Typically, you can just press enter
once you find the link to confirm that you want to be subscribed to the news
letter.

If this is not possible, it is merely a process of selecting, copying, and
pasting the URL into your Browser. In such a case, I just start at the
beginning of the address and press control plus shift plus the right arrow
until it selects the entire address. Then just press control c to copy and
control v once you open your Browser.

To copy the confirmation web address of the newsletter to which you want to
subscribe, position your cursor at the beginning of the address, usually the
H in HTTP. Hold down the left Shift key and select each character in the
address using the right arrow key. When you have selected all the
characters in the address, release the Shift key. Confirm that you have
selected the address correctly by pressing the combination Shift-Insert-Down
Arrow. Once you have selected the address, copy it to the clipboard by
pressing Control-C. Finally, focus on Internet Explorer, press Control-O to
open the Address Bar, and paste in the web address you just copied by
pressing Control-V. Hit Enter and you will be on the Confirmation page.
HTH.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Empty buffer wih Firefox 3 and JAWS 10

2009-06-13 Thread Donald Marang

Hi Everett,

I now have that problem with the virtual buffer in both Firefox 3 and
Internet Explorer 7. Last month I had to revert back two releases of JAWS
10 latest back to 10.0.512. The two latest releases were unstable (JAWS
would crash) and it would cause a system beep when moving up and down in
certain lists. Unfortunately, one list was in the Verizon application for
which I wrote scripts and another was the list of FS available updates. The
strange thing is it only affected my account! All other accounts on my
computer work properly. I have removed all FS products, deleted all
remnants in Program Files and User settings, removed FS/HJ junk from the
registry which FS Tech Support Escalation recommended, and reinstalled the
latest release. Even immediately after installing JAWS, with no personal
settings or scripts, the problem returned! Nothing solved the problem, so I
am currently stuck with 10.0.512 and a virtual buffer problem! The FS Tech
Support Escalation specialist was stumped. Does anyone have an idea of an
account setting or registry entry that might have been left over after that
process?

Re: [JAWS-Users] an issue with browsers

2009-06-13 Thread Tim
Do you mean it brings up addresses after you have only typed a few
characters into the address bar? I have had this happen several times and
the problem disappeared after I restarted my Browser.

From my experience with this kind of problem, if you just ignore the address
it reads back and press enter after you are done typing the URL for the web
site you want to visit, you will have done everything correctly and your
Browser will load the web page. If you attempt to move through the addresses
that are being displayed JAWS will lose focus on the address bar.

This is not the way it is supposed to work. I press the down arrow all the
time to avoid typing in an address to a web site I haven't bookmarked yet.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] an issue with browsers

How can I get the browser from automatically putting in addresses I don't
want? I go to paste in an address and another comes up instead and it
ignores the one I just tried to paste. It is driving me nuts. I would like
to have it come up without any history at all. thanks.
