[JAWS-Users] Scripts for Yahoo Messenger, all versions

2010-03-12 Thread Emanuel Boboiu (Manu)
Hello all!
Clicking the link bellow, you cand download Jaws 11.0 and all versions Scripts
for Yahoo Messenger 10.0.
These scripts are updated by Pontes IT Department, Romania.
Last update: 12 march 2010.

The messages in the instant window are read automatically by Jaws.
The alt + 1, 2, 3, ... 9 keystrokes work correctly.
The emoticons are spoken. The graphics were labeled one by one.
New keystroke added: control + shift + enter open the last address found in the
window. For instance, if someone send you a Youtube link, you press control +
shift + enter and the web browser will open the last link (URL) vizible in
current window..

Note:
If you use Yahoo Messenger 8, the scripts work like before, nothing changed for
this version, only emoticons are spoken and the keystroke Control + Shift +
Enter click the last link..
During the instalation you will be ask about version of JAWS that you use with
Yahoo, after, if the jaws is in another language than English, it is necesary
to choose it during the instalation, for instance, not ENU, but ITA, HUN etc..

Here it is the link for download:

   Enjoy

Download superantispyware, and avira antivir, or malwarebytes

[JAWS-Users] Excel and Merged Cells

2010-03-12 Thread Bill Tipton
Hi,

How do you read an Excel work book with merged cells with JAWS 11? I have Excel
2007.
The cells are merged in a variety of ways throughout.
Example: a6-a47 are merged.
Move one cell over to the right and:
B6-b9 are merged.

I need to read and edit this document and keep the formatting intact.
If this is not possible with JAWS, I had 2 questions.
1. How can I unmerge all cells at once so I can read all of the data.
2. Is there some guidelines that talk about Excel accessibility I can share
with the person who created this spreadsheet to help
them make it accessible.

Thank you for any help you can provide to enable me to read and edit this
document.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Excel and Merged Cells

2010-03-12 Thread Annette Carr
Hi,

I'm not clear on where you are having trouble. When a set of cells are
merged, JAWS will read their contents just as it does if the info is in a
single cell. People usually merge cells for visual layout, or to help deal
with large amounts of information that other wise could not be read if put
into a single cell the size of that cell would have to be quite large.

Off of the top of my head, I'm not coming up with a reason why someone might
merge cells vertically as in the example you just gave. But here is an
example of how someone might use cells merged horizontally.

In the first row cells A1 thru X1 are merged and contain the text Monthly
expense data for 2 years. This is the title for the entire set of data and
it is centered within this very long cell.
In the next row cells A2 thru L2 are merged and read 2008, and next to it
cells M2 thru X2 are merged and read 2009.
In the next row cells A3 thru L3 each contain the name of each month for
2008, Jan Feb Mar...Dec, and cells M3 thru X2 again contain the names of the
months for the year 2009.
All of the cells in the rows below the names of the months contain the data.

Now to make this data a bit easier to be read by a screen reader user, I
would eliminate row 2 and change the information in row 3 to read, Jan 2008,
Feb 2008, Mar 2008...Jan 2009, Feb 2009, Mar 2009..., etc.

I hope this make sense and you find it helpful.

Annette

Re: [JAWS-Users] Excel and Merged Cells

2010-03-12 Thread Brian Lee
Hello Bill,

Sometimes people will merge cells in a column to keep large sections of text
together instead of increasing row height. JAWS will read a merged range of
cells the same way it does a single cell and will tell you the range. In
your example you might have a lot of information to listen to at once. When
you merge information in Excel 2007, you are placing data with the same data
value in a range of cells instead of into one. If you have information
already in several cells and try to merge them then Excel will let you know
that there are cells with different data values trying to be merged and it
will keep only the data in the top left cell of the range. Usually merging
is done for such things as long strings of text like a title or a company
name.

You can still use F2 to go into edit mode and read the text like you would
in a word processor. Using up and down arrow keys will move from line to
line within the merged range, pressing CTRL+home will go to the beginning,
etc. When in edit mode in Excel the insert mode is on so you can add words
between others, you can select and delete a specific amount of text in the
range, and so forth. Your reading, navigating and editing commands should
all work for you if you go into edit mode by using function key 2. If you
want to add a new line in the cell then you need to use Alt+enter key to
force the line break. If you use enter key then you will be brought out of
edit mode.

If you want to remove the merge and work with single cells then move focus
into the merged range of cells and use CTRL+1 to bring up the format dialog.
If the page of the dialog that appears is not the alignment page then use
CTRL+tab until the alignment page tab is active. Use tab key to move
across the controls in the alignment page until you get to a checkbox that
determines whether or not merging is to be used. If the merge cells
checkbox is checked then use a spacebar to remove the checkmark and tab to
the OK button and press enter key.

Take care.
