Re: [JAWS-Users] BlindTech Dealing with lights on your router, modem or other device.

2010-07-03 Thread angel238
That would be a problem for me. There are 4 lights on my modem. When I use
to call for help I never knew the colors of the lights, and the technical
support staff would always ask that question. For which I hadn't an answer.
Do the color identifiers with light probes included tell us the color of the
lights which are on or are blinking?

Mike,

I hear ya there buddy, but even with a light probe all it does is make
that buzzin' sound to let ya know a light is on, but sure as heck don't
tell ya the color of the blinkin' light which is always what they ask...is
the green light on? I'm thinkin' green stands for go so that should be
like a no brainer for them to figure out or, otherwise why are you

Good Morning Richard;

I am sorry about posting such a message but, I have run into situations

our Internet Provider when I needed to know what lights, are or are not,
lit

on the modem and not having someone sighted around to tell me so I could
tell the IP tech support person. Without my service working correctly

[JAWS-Users] The latest version of Jaws 11 distorts at times when being used with X-FI sound card under Windows 7 Ultimate

2010-07-03 Thread Don Risavy, Jr.
Wonder has anyone had any problems with the latest version of jaws 11 that
just starts to sound destorted when using it with a Creative Labs X-FI sound
card and Windows 7 Ultimate. It doesn't or hasn't happened often since
installed Windows 7 Ultimate; but, never had this problem in Windows Vista
prior to upgrading to Windows 7 and if unload and reload Jaws it fixes the
problem.

So thought to ask to see if anyone else has experience this or a similar
problem since installing the latest version of Jaws?

Thanks.

2010-07-03 Thread tim

The lights on verizon router have three colors
red power is ok
orange power is problem
any other lights will do orange for problem and green flashing for ok.

At 12:42 PM 7/2/2010, you wrote:

Hi Patricia;

If you can tell them what lights are on/off in an order, let's say from top
to bottom, and the IP tech person can't determine which of these lights is
supposed to be On/off and what their colors should be, it is probably a tech
support person that you don't want to talk to in the first place. I don't
think any of the lights on a modem are suppose to glow in more than 1 color.
Take care.

Use the Secret Send To Menu Items
When you right-click on any file or folder, you can use the Send To menu
to
create a zipped version, or send the file to an application, but in
Windows 7 there

are hidden items on the Send To menu that can't be seen by default.
All you have to do is hold down the Shift key, then right-click on a file
and access
the Send To folder-you'll see a whole bunch of new items in the list, like
special
folders, and even an item for each one of your drives. It's a really
useful

tip for
quickly sending a file to the flash drive you just plugged into the PC,
without having to do anything else.
This tip was found at

Open a Command Prompt from Any Folder
This is one of those tips that most real geeks already know, but chances
are
there's somebody reading this that doesn't know about it. If you hold down
the Shift
key while right-clicking on any folder, including the desktop background,
you'll
see a new item for Open command window here, that will open a command
prompt

with that folder as the default path.
This tip only works in Windows 7 or Vista, for Windows XP you'll need to
use
a registry hack to accomplish the same thing. We can't mention this tip
without telling

you how to do the opposite.
you can Ever been doing some work at the command line when you realized.
it would be
a lot easier if I could just use the mouse for this task? One command
later, you'll

have
a window open to the same place that you're at.
This same tip works in more than one operating system, so we'll detail how
to do
it in every way we know how.
Just type the following command into your command prompt:

Note: You could actually just type start . instead.
And you'll then see a file browsing window set to the same directory you
were previously

Re: [JAWS-Users] The latest version of Jaws 11 distorts at times whenbeing used with X-FI sound card under Windows 7 Ultimate

2010-07-03 Thread Brian Lee
Hello Iksi,

I don't use a SoundBlaster Live 5.1 card although I use to. However, I
found drivers that apparently work with the Creative SoundBlaster Live 5.1
card and both Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit. I can't personally vouch for
them, but a lot of people on line have said that they work well. The first
link below is for 32-bit Windows and there is x86 in the name of the file.
The second link is the driver for 64-bit Windows and x64 is shown in the
file name. In addition, some people have said that installing XP drivers
using the Windows 7 compatibility mode also works. One problem some people
have had is getting sound from more than two speakers. Tweaking the
configuration in the properties of the sound applet in the control panel
seemed to work for those people. Setting output to SPDIF/AC3 apparently
stopped some problems people had with such things as getting static when
using WINAmp. Please remember to back up existing sound drivers on the
Windows 7 machine and/or creating a system restore point before installing
the drivers. There seemed to be a lot of people on line who had searched
for compatible drivers for a long time and who said that these drivers
worked for them, but again, I haven't used them.

Here are the two links; one of the drivers to be used with 32-bit Windows 7
and the other with 64-bit Windows 7.

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Copy Paste Not Working

Hi Donnie;

Are the keystrokes not working or are the keystrokes working and just not
saying copied selection to clipboard or pasted from clipboard? Personally I
haven't had any problems with the latest version of Jaws11, although many
people have. Take care.
Mike

Since I updated to the latest version of JAWS, my key commands of Control C
to copy and Control V to
paste, doesn't work. Is there something I can do to fix this? I have tried
rebooting and it didn't
help.

Have a great day, unless you have made other plans.

It works that way, but not with the shortcut key command of Control C and
Control V.

Use your applications key and select the commands and see if that works.

Good Day:
I have noticed that as well in some applications. Also, ctrl-shft-Right or
Left does not function consistently. I haven't had this occur prior to this

release. Thank you.

That happens to me in that the hot keys don't work after my computer has
been on for some time.

I then have to use the applications key till the next reboot.
