Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS since version 7 doesn't read pages with frames

2010-07-29 Thread Donald Marang
There must be something going on within that webpage other than frames to
make it inaccessible. I have written WebPages that have had both standard
and in line frames that are 100% accessible. Thos pages have worked on
every version of JAWS I have had from 4.7 to 11. There are some experts
that say using frames is a bad design choice. I agree that frames were and
still are greatly abused, especially to steal content. Used sparingly and
wisely, I see nothing inherently wrong with frames.

Hi,

Which version of what browser are you using? According to JAWS11 which
I'm using with Internet Explorer 8, there are two frames. It appears

to read both of them, and the second frame appears to contain the links
to content on the site; and the links to there seem to work also. (Many
of the links have the same or similar names or labels. I don't know if
this is an authorial matter.) There are 159 links, and they are all
'spoken'. I can't recall another particular multi-frame page at the
moment; but can recall that JAWS11 (and 10, and versions prior, in my
experience) do go on to speak other frames when they are encountered in a
page.

Hi,
JAWS for windows has problems reading pages with frames, since version 7
to
at least version 10.
If you go to page http://www.enfis.it/cue-splitter-tutorial/, you'll see
that these versions of JAWS only read the first frame. It means they
don't
read the content of the page. This happens in many more web pages that
use
frames.
Is there any workaround to this problem? Note that JAWS 6.20 read these
pages correctly, but it's an older version.

Thanks.

Yes, every program mentioned on the website has been tested with different
versions of Jaws, on different systems.

If it isn't free, and doesn't work with Jaws, I don't put it on the site.

[JAWS-Users] windows live mail selecting addresses

2010-07-29 Thread Lenny McHugh
Well I finally figured out a fairly easy way of selecting addresses. When I
opened a new email I then use alt t for tools. Then arrow down to the address
list. As I go down through the list if I want the address on the to line alt t
or alt c or alt b for the other lines. This will put you on the to, cc or bcc
buttons. Then just arrow up to the address list and you will be where you left
off. Since they are ordered you can use page down to skip some of the
addresses. When you selected all of them tab until you get to the ok button.
Now if I can only find why I can not reply to a group. I suspect that I must
set it to automatically add addresses when replying. I hope not I would not
want the file filled with unneeded addresses. I have over a hundred in my
contacts.

Re: [JAWS-Users] multiple addresses in address book

2010-07-29 Thread Patti

I think this will do the same thing, as outlook express.

Selecting names from addressbook

1 when you forward an email open a new email ctrl n

2 you will land on the to line, do a alt t still holding the alt down hit r
for the recipients

3 tab 3 times to the list view

4 on the first name you want to send press, note there is two ways to do
this

1 alt t then arrow down to the next name you want press alt t on each name
you want.

Press enter when you are done, that will put all the names on the to line,
and you are back into the email.

2 This is the way I do it, because I don't want a long list of the names I
send someone, and each person doesn't know who else I sent the email to.

When you get on the first name press alt b as in boy. Then arrow down to the
next name and press alt b each time. That will put all the names on the bcc
line press enter to get back into the email.

5 Now you can send your email off alt s

I hope that I explained this ok. Let me know witch one you tried?

hth Patti

[JAWS-Users] can't reply

This window live mail is a real treasure. I just tried to reply to Steve's
information. It won't let me because it does not have the contact. The jaws
list address is in the contacts.
I then tried to forward with the same results. I can obviously create a new

Anyway I do have two accounts set up with individual ids and passwords. But
there is only one option to include a signature line so all of Karen's out
going mail have my signature. I wonder if thunderbird can input all of my
folders, messages and addresses from windows live.

Hi.
I use thunderbird my self, i've tried windows live mail and hated it.
Thunderbird 2.0 works better than thunderbird 3 to be honest, in
thunderbird 3, i'd recommend turning off tabs by default emails open in
the same tab, you want them to open in a new window so you can close the
window. I think its control w to close a tab. If i were you, i'd
download thunderbird 2.0. its much more user friendly and less cluttered
for speech users, i'm using very happily with jaws 11 and GMail.
If you need any more tips, don't hesitate to get in touch either on or off
list.

Re: [JAWS-Users] thunderbird vs. windows live mail

2010-07-29 Thread Steve
1. Create two user accounts--one for you one for your wife. That way each
of you can have your own settings. You could also add separate identities
in your email progrram instead.

2. In Windows Live Mail, control-shift-c brings up your contacts, as does
shift-tab from the To field in a new message.

Hint: Not sure how your contacts appear. When I migrated contacts for
clients over to Win 7, they appear by email address. You can hit the Edit
link on each one and add their names. That might be easier for you to
select them.

3. If you try typing an email address in Windows LiveMail, you need to
enter enough of the address for the computer to eliminate all other
possibilities. At this time, the possible choices show on-screen, but they
aren't easily chosen using Jaws or Window-Eyes.

Re: [JAWS-Users] JFW settings etc transfer

2010-07-29 Thread Mike O'Brien
Hi Barry

IE bookmarks are IE settings, not JAWS settings. The ones you've created
can be found on the old computer in "c:\Documents and
settings\YourUserName\Favorites". You can copy these to the new computer,
putting them in the same place.

JAWS11

Pl pardon me if this is off topic from JAWS. Using Windows 7, JAWS11.
Streaming video (with sound) online via Windows Media Player on my PC.
I'd like to record the video and audio of the stream using some third
party screen recorder software that is accessible to use with JAWS11.
Secondly, I recently tried 'total Screen Recorder' and it only had the
option of recording audio via my PC's microphone line in. So the
software I'm looking for must record off the sound card i.e. the audio
that is playing through my laptop speakers.

Would you pl recommend one to me that satisfies both the above
criteria?.

Re: [JAWS-Users] thunderbird vs. windows live mail

2010-07-29 Thread Mobeen Iqbal

If i were you, i'd
download thunderbird 2.0. its much more user friendly and less
cluttered for speech users, i'm using very happily with jaws 11 and GMail.

If you need any more tips, don't hesitate to get in touch either on or
off list.

finding addresses in live mail are quite a choir.
By having the two accounts in windows live all of the settings that I want also
apply to my wife such as signature. It only took me about 20 minutes to put
this email together, trying to get the correct address.
