[JAWS-Users] Unintended consequences from this? RE: Found solution to balloon hot key

2010-08-18 Thread Dujari, Prateek
Hello. I always thought choosing 'alt text' for graphics verbocity is the
optimum way for Jaws to correctly identify each graphic. How does JFW's ability
to identify graphics in a way I know what the graphic label/tag /whatever is if
I change it to announce 'on mouseover'? Any drawbacks

A very simple solution. I figured there was but just overlooked it.
If you want to read those little balloon things, you just need to set
your user verbocity settings so your graphics are recognized by mouse
over text and not alt text which is the default. Sorry to ask and
then find the solution myself but maybe this helps someone else :).

TJ,

Thanks for that suggestion. I've created frames before and that
might work yes. I don't mean this antagonistically but I did try
another screen reader and when I popped up that address I gave, I
heard it pop open that balloon and speak it right after the title
bar of the browser without having to do anything. I say that to
say I'd bet there is a way for Jaws to read those without extra
programming. The frame idea is a good one though and perhaps that
will be the way it will need to be.

Hello Brad,

One approach to your read balloon hotkey might be to build a
 frame to speak.

It would require that the text or balloon that appears would
have to appear in a similar part of the screen every time. You
could then create a frame to read that area of the screen and use
a hotkey to read the frame.

I have not created a frame in a while, but if I remember
correctly it is not to difficult.

Especially if you are going to call tech support anyway, you
could have them or some one else to help you create the frame.

Just a thought

2010-08-18 Thread BDM
If you set it in the verbocity settings with INS V, it is not
permanant, provided you know there is a balloon you want/need to see.
I went to a site that has an alt tag on a graphic and it still read
it. Will that be the case for all web sites? I don't know, you'd
think it would.

#Hi Roseanna,
#
#If you just want to add someone's email address from an email you just
#received, then with the email open, press and hold down the left alt
#key
#and follow this with pressing the number 1 just above the letters twice
#quickly. Now press the application key and from the resulting menu
#choose
#add to outlook contacts
#A new contact page will pop up containing the persons email address and
#if
#you wish you can insert extra information about the person. When
#finished
#just press alt + F4 to close and answer yes to have it saved in your
#contacts list.

[JAWS-Users] accessibility of I-Tunes store

2010-08-18 Thread Don and Cher Bosch
Hi folks. Just bought an I-Phone but found the I-tunes store screens
inaccessible for setting up an account to download apps for my new phone.
Using JAWS11 latest, I was unable to route JAWS to the things on the screen
that needed to be activated, and often the JAWS cursor did not reliably
route to the PC cursor's location. What work-around are others using?
