If you set it in the verbocity settings with INS V, it is not permanant, provided you know there is a balloon you want/need to see. I went to a site that has an alt tag on a graphic and it still read it. Will that be the case for all web sites? I don't know, you'd think it would.

Hello. I always thought choosing 'alt text' for graphics verbocity is the optimum way for Jaws to correctly identify each graphic. How does JFW's ability to identify graphics in a way I know what the graphic label/tag /whatever is if I change it to announce 'on mouseover'? Any drawbacks

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Found solution to balloon hot key

A very simple solution. I figured there was but just overlooked it.
If you want to read those little balloon things, you just need to set
your user verbocity settings so your graphics are recognized by mouse
over text and not alt text which is the default. Sorry to ask and
then find the solution myself but maybe this helps someone else :).
