hi, you can probably get the kit to build a pc from either fries or bestbuy. My brother usually goes to fries to buy the computer case and the supplies to build it. There is no actual kit to make a PC. You just buy all the parts from a computer store or on-line like new egg or mwave. Some retail stores will have some parts but not all, and most can be bought cheap on-line. Would caution here, if not knowing what your doing. Like suggested join the blind programing list. You need to know what type of program you want to write to determine the type of language to use. There are a lot like c#, c++, java, python, pearl, ruby and that is just a few. Most of it is done in a editor like note pad or with a ide. Just to clear a thing up. Microsoft don't put copies of office on your computer for free. When you buy the computer. The store will give you a choice if you want different programs and you get trial of 30 to 60 days and then its buy me, or you can buy it for the store to put on. Anyway, I'm not sure what George meant about Office 2007 being buggy with JAWS 11 but imagine it has to do with the ribbon interface, which hopefully JAWS 12 will make easier. My husband is already using Office 2007 so I will hopefully be able to install a copy on his license. I feel i'm going to have a lot to learn at one time and it's hard to anticipate how difficult it will be from other people's reports of problems. Oh well, one day at a time I guess. I've been anticipating this transition for about a year and have finally decided to take the plunge now that I have the money saved rather than wait for this PC to die completely. The Office 2010 programs that you install also should work, but the basic version of Office 2010 that you get with every Win 7 pc won't work very well because it is an ad-based free version that uses a web browser, so Jaws can't script it. - Original Message - From: Jorge Paez computertechjorgep...@gmail.com To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Thursday, May 19, 2011 7:51 PM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] questions about JAWS and Windows 7 Office 2010. 20007 I found a bit buggy with JFW 11. I will not have access to the classic startup or whatever it's called since I am only getting the Home premium version, but are there any configuration changes I should make so that JAWS and Windows will play well together? Also, does the Windows setup include some version of IE or do I have to get this elsewhere, and if so what steps are involved? I also need to decide whether to go with internet Explorer 8 or 9 and office 2007 or 2010 and would like opinions on which email clients people favor, keeping in mind that I'm used to Outlook Express and have had no real chance to work with Windows Mail or Thunderbird and am somewhat leaning away from Outlook. Right, I didn't mean a kit literally. My son has been checking reviews etc. and is getting the parts from Newegg. He has put together a PC for himself and has helped a few others, mmore a hobby than a professional sideline. Python is regarded as a good language for beginners. Personally I'm playing a bit with C and C++. I write all my code in a text editor and compile/debug using only command line tools. For .NET you only need a decent text editor since the .NET framework and compilers is already present on all modern Windows systems. Outlook Express Message Dear David and Mike, I have the same situation, and get the exact same error message, but only in my Deleted items folder! I mean, it was not always this way, about 6 months ago, it started. I used to Compact All Folders, from wherever I was, I mean in whatever folder I was in, and it would compact all folders. Now, I have to Compact each folder one at a time, and the Deleted Folder will not compact, but gives that exact error message. I do not care about it, it is not a problem, as my Deleted Folder is usually empty anyway, but it is strange! Because even if I had no other applications or whatever running or open, I get that message! And David, Thanks for the tip, but that did not work, still got the error message! Re: [JAWS-Users] ftp clients
Hi. You can also open the ftp site in an Explorer window, and have a seperate explorer window open for your own files, and than copy/paste them from the one to the other. It Work's fine with JFW. [JAWS-Users] Question About Jaws 11
Hi all. I have a question and it might sound like a strange question. Can anyone tell me why when cars drive by the apartment building I live in, my Jaws stops talking and when it does, I press my shift and tab and then press my tab key again and it starts talking once more? Can anyone tell me what this is? Thanks if anyone can help. Michelle For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
[JAWS-Users] navigating to websites
Hello: Every time I go to a website it acts like I land in an edit field and it affects the navigation of the website. I cannot go anywhere on the site that I am on. Here are the things I do when that happens. 1. press f six to get back onto the webpage 2. Press F five or CTRL f five and everything is working. I'm using jfw latest build and this also happens on the latest build of jfw 12 and I am using IE8. This doesn't just happen to certain sites, it happens about 90% of the time when serfing the net. Any thoughts or possible work arounds are greatly appreciated. Thankyou. For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
[JAWS-Users] Converting Web Page Content to Excel
Hi all, I was able to copy the web table in IE 7 and paste it into Excel 2007, retaining the table layout on XP Pro with the instructions you provided. - Thank you. I still can't get it to work with JAWS 12 and Jaws 11, IE 8, Excel 2007 and Window 7 64 Bit Pro. My original problem still exists. When I select the table with F8 and copy into Excel 2007 with the configuration above, all data goes into column A. I can use my XP system with IE 7 to complete what I need to accomplish for now. Thank you for your help. After selecting the table with f8, use JAWS key V, press the letter V, and use down arrow to the select and copy choice. Press spacebar until the option for full content using on screen highlight is selected. Press enter key to save the change. Copy the table and then paste it in Excel. The column headings should be maintained and JAWS will speak all content of each cell as you navigate to it, but column widths and row heights will have to be adjusted. I hope this works for you. , Take care. Is there a way to have multiple columns filled with data, and maintain the column headings? For example, One web page table I am trying to convert to Excel has 4 columns and 80 rows. The column headings are in row 1. Is it possible to maintain the table structure after it is copied to Excel? Thank you for your assistance. The following works for me, but you will have to try it with Excel 2007 and IE 8 to see if it works for you. 1. Go to the line of text above the HTML data table where JAWS tells you how many rows and columns are in the table. 2. Press JAWS key with V. 3. Press D until you hear the document presentation menu item. 4. Press spacebar until you hear screen layout. 5. Press enter key. 6. Press f8 to select the table. 7.
