Re: [JAWS-Users] YouTube
Hi Patti. If you are referring to the latest youtube to mp3 converter? I think that is also the version that I just upgraded too a few days ago. Jaws doesn't seem to read the options as well as it did in the last version. When you tab through the options? After pasting in the URL of the youtube video you want to convert. There is a list. In which you can choose the format to which you want to convert the video into. I notice now, you can choose between: OG, Wave, MP4 and MP3. Perhaps, you have it set to MP4? and this is causing your trouble? [JAWS-Users] problem with function keys on new laptopth
Hi, I'm using JAWS 12 with Windows 7 64 bit on a new HP Pavilion laptop. The function keys are not working with the insert key at all. JAWS is set to use the insert key, but the function keys on this computer are using the default settings for HP. Is there a way to change these function keys to get JAWS to perform correctly? Re: [JAWS-Users] problem with function keys on new laptopth
The best laptops I think for a blind person are the Dell Latitudes that are dizind spessifically for work, on the HP pavilion and Dell Inspirions for example, you will maybe need to press the Function keys together with the function key which is located usually after the left control key. So if you want to do insert f4 for example, you will press the insert key+the function key+f4. On the Dell inspiron line, you can change that in the bios - I think that would also apply to a lot of HP machines. Google says to make the function keys work the way you're used to, press numlock and the fn key together. Re: [JAWS-Users] problem with function keys on new laptopth
Yes, Vicki. This is common on some HP laptops. You Can disable that functionality and restore your function keys to normal use by disabling Action Keys Mode in the BIOS... Here is the document, that will help you with it... http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02035108cc=usdlc=enlc=enjumpid=reg_R1002_US Make sure to paste the link above, as it will probably wrap on more than one line. Re: [JAWS-Users] Looking for a Driver Backup and Restore Utility
IMO, it's a much better idea to keep your drivers current - within reason - rather than back-up / restore old or corrupt device drivers. In my experience, corrupt or old drivers are the biggest single issue people have with computers. Thanks for your help, and if you can tell me where to choose mp3, please let me know. I don't see where the three choices you said are. Patti Hi Patti. Re: [JAWS-Users] Looking for a Driver Backup and Restore Utility
I have just performed a clean install of windows 7 on a laptop. There wasn't a driver cd. So it took a long time to find all the drivers. It would just be good to back them all up now. -Original Message- From: jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Glen Jan Sent: 29 July 2011 01:53 To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Looking for a Driver Backup and Restore Utility IMO, it's a much better idea to keep your drivers current - within reason - rather than back-up / restore old or corrupt device drivers. Re: [JAWS-Users] Looking for a Driver Backup and Restore Utility
Perhaps, but my point is that some / all of those drivers will be out of date in a reasonably short time, so restoring them to a new install down the track could cause problems.
