[JAWS-Users] Maximize Windows function script
Hi Señor Ferrin, I noticed a script under the Jaws heading of the Scripts page for maximizing windows. This is the description given; 1. Function To Maximize Most any Window Automatically How would running this script work , opposed to running the Autosizer program? All advice input would be greatly appreciated. Re: [JAWS-Users] Maximize Windows function script
It works in classic display mode where there are the symbols in the upper right hand corner for maximizing ETC. It functions like this. I use it in notepad but it will work on other programs as well. In notepad I have an auto start function which calls auto maximize encoded in my default script. Auto maximize looks to see if there is a symbol that says maximize in the corner as I mentioned. If it finds such a symbol it performs a left mouse click which maximizes the window. The thing is it does that so quickly it is almost transparent to the user. Some times I can catch it working but normally it just does it so fast it's not even an issue. You do need to feel comfortable in the script files but it does not take much programming ability to install it. Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS and Google
Hi Robin and others, just to note that an alternative to using the edit box on the google web page is to use the search box in internet explorer (or firefox). You first need to set google as the default search provider, and then you can just press ctrl+e to move to the search box, type in your search terms and press enter. Full details for using the search box in ie8 can be found in the search box section of this guide to ie8: http://vip.chowo.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/jaws/Internet-Explorer-8-Guide.html This guide to google might also be relevant: http://vip.chowo.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/jaws/Google-Guide.html Note that in ie9, the address bar and the search box have been merged, but you can still search in the same way. However to check what search providers are available, and to change the default you have to open the manange add-ons dialog, which is on the tools menu. best wishes, David. original message: I have noticed on my home and on my work computers using JAWS 12 and one PC on XP the other using Win 7 that when I go to do a google search and turns forms mode on I can type in the information or the search criteria and for some reason what I typed is not there. I can do this several times turning forms mode on and off going to top of page then jumping back to the edit field and still text seems not to be echoed or even written into the field. I cannot arrow back to see what is typed and if I turn JAWS Cursor on there is nothing to be found. Any one experiencing this and what could be the issue here? Re: [JAWS-Users] Maximize Windows function script
Hi Mike. If you are moving to the shortcut for a program, and press alt+enter on it, and be aware of, that you are on the shortcut tab, than tab to the compobox Run as, and arrow down to Maximized and tab to ok, and press enter. Now this program always will start in a maximized window. Just before the compobox Run as, you have the ability to add a shortcut key to this shortcut, so you always can start the program by pressing this shortcut key combination instead of moving to the desired shortcut. Good luck. Re: [JAWS-Users] Maximize Windows function script
Which ever is best falls under the category of personal opinion. I normally place it in the default script file so it can be accessed from various applications myself. Say for example you hit enter on a text file which opens in notepad by passing your desktop icon, then normally it would come up restored without the help of a script or a program like auto sizer which I find useful as well BTW. I placed an auto start event function in notepad that calls auto maximize which is located in the default script file. Like I said earlier all of that happens faster than an eye blink and your window comes up maximized for you ready to go. The script can be found on the server. Re: [JAWS-Users] Maximize Windows function script
Hi David, Thank you very much for the clarification. Just to experiment, I think I'll turn off Autosizer try this script just to see how it works. Thanks again, take care.
Good luck with that, it works nicely. I use it in windows mail since auto sizer doesn't work on that platform. The trick was to find the particular functions in the windows mail script file to place the command that calls the script in question.
